If I remember correctly, it was originally titled Song of Songs, not Song of Solomon. Either way, it's still the same book, nothing changed. There are also other books in the bible that the titles have been changed from the original. The book of Acts was originally known as Luke Part II. I think there may have been one or two more, but I would have to research it.

In my King James Version Bible, the Book of Solomon is found. In my new Southern Baptist Sunday School book, it is called Song of Songs. When did this happen?? Never heard it called Song of Songs!! I don't like anything changed when it come to GOD'S WORD!!!

If you choose to drink a glass of wine with spaghetti that's your God given free choice . You are free from the laws and customs of man . Christ is not sitting waiting to punish you over a glass or two of wine nor a can or two of beer . Now if you are around someone whom it may offend then don't drink it . Do not indulge yourselves to being high or drunk for the body's sake to put it to harm . Live your life free before God and trust him to tell you what's wrong and not another mans opinions and his teaching .

The Bible tells us in Proverbs 20:1 - Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.

No where in the Bible state Jesus turned water into an alcoholic drink and the grapes were fermented. He simple stated he turned water into wine. His word, the Bible, talks against alcohol in several places when you read it in its entirety. He will not contradict himself. Jesus is the word ( John 1:1). Galatians chapter 5 also explains to us what is sin. Ask yourself, how would it effect your witness to the world. Would they take you serious seeing you drinking alcohol and trying to lead them to Jesus Praying earnestly and not self willed, God will reveal thetruth

Wine is not for kings. i mean alchohol as it alters your setting and sponsors behavior that inconsistent with your true personality. Jesus wouldn't have turn water to alchohol thus making people drunk and misbave on the account of his miracle wine. No! Its not possible, Jesus Turned water to WINE.

He is considering his skin as a pride to be a black for others looking at it down and ugly
  • Adam - In Reply on Song of Solomon 1:1 - 4 years ago
Hi Sandra, that's a good question. It's my opinion that since Jesus' first miracle was turning water to alcoholic wine then it must not be a sin in itself. What is says is a sin is drunkenness and giving into the many temptations that alcohol will enable through inhibiting our judgment, conscience, and holy spirit. Link and Link

    getting drunk is the Sin
  • Sandra on Song of Solomon 1:1 - 4 years ago
I am of the Protestant faith and am very confused about the consumption of wine, say a glass with dinner not drunkenness? I have put this to God and asked for an answer and I always come to the same conclusion that it is not a sin, I feel no guilt at consuming a glass of celebratory wine or with dinner. Please give me your opinion.
    Thank you,
    Sandra

    Psalms 61 David says,

Hear my cry, O God; Attend to my prayer. From the end of the earth I will cry to you,
When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
    For You have been a shelter for me, A strong tower from the enemy. I will abide in Your tabernacle forever;
I will trust in the shelter of Your wings.

Verse 8 So I will sing praise to your name forever, That I may daily perform my vows. AMEN Thank You Lord

Beware of sparkly robes of gold: even satan can disguise himself as an angel of light. Compare everything to scripture.
Jesus said "it is written...and quoted scripture to satans temptations

From the previous verse it seems that the Beloved really does not find herself attractive from a physical standpoint, which is sad even in current times. She sacrificed her appearance for the sake of her mother's children. She seems to think that her Lover is pedestals above her in terms of attractiveness. Honestly, I've become invested with the intricacies of the language and the characters that I hope she finds to love herself just as much, if not more, than she loves her Lover.
  • Annysia on Song of Solomon 1:5 - 4 years ago
From this verse, I believe she is describing herself. She's saying that she has dark skin, which is considered "ugly" from the tone which she says it, but her personality is comely. The tents are curtains are referring to her skin, but I believe in a way she still finds those objects beautiful that's why she uses them to refer to herself.

It could be interpreted as racist, but I believe she's just saying how she doesn't conform to the beauty standards of her time but still appreciates what she has inside.

I remember reading this a few years back and being shocked by how the Bible explicitly says the sexual nature of the relationship between Lover and Beloved (being lead into the King's chambers). Despite that, I love the poetic nature of this and how the song describes how much they love each other and consummate their marriage.
  • Annysia on Song of Solomon 1:3 - 4 years ago
The language used in this verse is particularly beautiful but I'm a bit confuse by it. My interpretation of this is the Lover's presence is so intoxicating to the Beloved that just hearing the name brings her joy. What confuses me though is the use of the word "virgins", is she simply referring to herself or do many people adore the Lover just like her?
  • Luna Vincent on Song of Solomon 1:2 - 4 years ago
I've been researching on this quote and it's pretty interesting how open to interpretation the Song of Solomon is in general (is it from God to Man, Christ to the Church, etc.). What confuses me though is why the King James version decided to make the tone of this verse so calm? Other versions of the bible seem to have a lot of energy in their translations of this verse.

Regardless of color. Red, Yellow, Black or Whuite we are all children of the most high God. When I stand next to someone I m not focused on their color I am focused on them being my brother or my sister .

No swarthy was out dates so dark was used. Someone else thought they knew more from only academics and said black. Where I'm of English and German decent, "maybe" some indian, maybe. But my dad took a picture with a black man and they looked about the same color. Where when he stays out in the sun, he's get swarthy. I have a Sicilian aunt, she's very dark complected relative to my pale face.

I;VE read others interpartation concearning this book. My beleaf is that i belive it's all about
CHRIST and his church an the love he had for it.that he gave his life for it. (JOHN;3;16)
  • Alex on Song of Solomon 1 - 6 years ago
The 2 lovers in Song of Solomon are Christ and the Church,THEY REFER TO EACH OTHER AS HAVING DOVES EYES. DOVES ARE SYMBOLIC OF LOVERS,HUSBAND LOVES YOUR WIVES AS CHRIST LOVE THE CHURCH AND GAVE HIS LIFE FOR IT. REMEMBER THE PRIEST HAD TO WASH 2 DOVES BY RUNNING WATER ( THE JORDAN ) BUT 1 HAD TO BE KILLED AND HIS BLOOD SPRINKLED ON THE LIVING BIRD WHICH IS THE CHURCH.THAT DOVE DESCENDED ON CHRIST.

  • Margaret Merryweather on Song of Solomon 1 - 7 years ago
It is utterly beautiful, and utterly pure. The world cannot understand such a pure love. It is only when we know Jesus, and as we grow in our love relationship with Him that we can begin to understand such beauty and purity, and the more we understand it, the more our marriages and family life will thrive and prosper, and reflect the beauty and purity of Christ, and be a witness for Him.
