    Psalm 97

Verse 1 indicates the "multitude of isles" being glad when the Lord reigns. This term has been said to refer to the Gentile nations or the outermost parts of the world. Ezekiel 39:6 and Isaiah 41:5 seem to refer to these parts of the world during the Tribulation with Isaiah 24:15 giving a prophetic indication that even in the fires God will be glorified.

Verse 2 on clouds and darkness are similar to Solomon's description of God in 1 Kings 8:12 similar to other passages.

Verse 3 through 5 show the affects on the earth of His coming. We are reminded of 2 Thessalonians 2:8 as well as the battle of Armageddon.

Verse 4 reminds us of Matthew 24:27 when the Son of Man comes as to His appearing.

Verse 5 shows us similar references to Psalm 68:2 among other places.

Verse 6 shows as things are now; God's presence evident to all as we see indicated in Romans 1 and Psalm 19. Man will see His glory when He comes to rule in the Millennium.

Verse 7 shows that finally idol worship will end when Christ comes back. People will eventually cast forth their idols of gold and silver during the Tribulation judgments as Isaiah 2:20. Perhaps some of that sadly will occur because Satan himself will demand worship and that will eliminate worship of any false gods but also the true God with the mark of the beast sealing people's fate.

Verse 8 shows how Judah and the remaining nation of Israel will rejoice; which will happen when He is returning as Zechariah 12:10 indicates. Verse 9 shows the majesty of God unparalleled.

Verse 10 shows how saints are delivered; either from or through disaster.

Verse 11 reminds us of His light and no longer a need for the sun and moon from Revelation 21:23 but also found in Isaiah 60:19.

Finally the last verse talks about rejoicing of the righteous and thanks at remembrance of His holiness. Good sentiment for all times or dispensations and the age to come.

Why do you not use God's name in your Bible?

The original writings always showed his name, even if it was the Tetragramatton - it still revealed his name.

There are two realms of existence, the eternal spiritual realm, and the temporary physical realm. God and His beings, cherubs, seraphs, angels, and watchers exist in His spiritual realm. In our current physical realm in our physical body, we have a spirit and soul. We need a physical body to exist in our physical realm. When we die, we go to God's realm or the spirit realm, and we need our spirit body to exist in the spirit realm. Our soul is our unique identity of consciousness or awareness. Without it, we would be like an inanimate object, but we have it so we can be aware of God and our existence.

When we are saved, and God baptizes us with His Spirit, it intercourses with our spirit and He becomes alive in us, and we alive in Him, and we can understand it because of our soul.

When we die, our physical body goes back into the dust it came from, but our soul and spirit go on forever with God in the light of heaven or without him in eternal darkness.

When Isaiah said Kings shall be your nursing fathers and Queens shall be your nursing mothers thats folks that have been impregnated by his GOOD SEED and birth a baby Christ the Child of Promise.... Isaiah 49 : 23

......Kings and Queens are just symbolic language for men and women...that have heard his voice, his good seed and birth a Baby Christ...Which is the H.G. that Children of Promise Thats y he always refers to himself as the Son of man.

.....Thats y he says whosoever receives one such child in my name receives me...The Kingdom...Who is my Mother Jesus asked ,...Then he says them that hear my Words and keeps them...Initiating a heavenly Birth of Christ in us...Men and women are gonna be his mother....Simply b/c we are all gonna birth a Baby Christ....And he is gonna be every ones son...Thats y he always refers to himself as the SON of Man...Which is mankinds fruit unto God....ok

Gi Gi...GBU ...But lemme give ya my take on the parable of the sower and his seed....Jesus tells us the good seed are the Children of the Kingdom....So the good seed are the Children of Promise...which is our new heart and new spirit...Our new innerman a baby Christ...the Child of Promise..The H.G...The multiplication of very God in humanity...God was so passionate about this great Promise that he swore by his very self...But this Promise wd require a GOOD SEED to be sown in Humanity..and a New Covenant... A body has thou prepared me...This Promise wd require a Sower and his precious seed to give birth to a heavenly ppl a Godly ppl which are spirits...As that which is born of the spirit is spirit which is the H.G. that Godly ppl that wd be born in Humanity...An Israel of God...As the gift of God is the H.G a Godly ppl that is gonna be born in humanity via his GOOD SEED...The Children of PROMISE is the H.G...OUR NEW INNERMAN..A KINGDOM ...unless ya receive the Kingdom of God as a lil Child you will in no wise enter there in...The very reason that Woman in Rev. 12 is giving birth is simply b/c of the Sower and his PRECIOUS SEED the contents of that book the New Covenant...Her Child is a baby Christ from the seed of the sower....our bridegroom....And THATS Y HE HAS TO KNOW US..No Child NO Kingdom....Unless ya receive the Kingdom of GOD as a lil Child you will in no wise enter there in.

.....Plz Note ..the Kingdom of God does not come till the Woman BIRTHS the Children... Rev. 12 : 10....Remember Jesus said the GOOD SEED are the Children of the Kingdom...When Isaiah saw the Kingdom coming....He says unto us a CHILD IS BORN UNTO US A SON IS GIVEN....And thats y we call Jesus the bridegroom....We ALL are gonna birth a baby Christ...the Children of Promise the H.G....And thats how Jesus will be multiplied as the Stars of heaven in multitudes via his seed...The Contents of that Book in the fathers right hand...All of our names are in that book...i will draw all men unto me.

    Hey Giannis,

That's ok, I am not skilled in Greek or Hebrew.

I still respectfully disagree; my understanding is our soul is who we are. Genesis 2:7 When God breathed into Adam, and he became a living soul/being. The spirit given to us gives us life and it is what goes back to God who gave it. When we are dead there is no more breath or communication until our resurrection when this mortal puts on immortality and death is swallowed up in victory by the grace of God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Thank you again for your reply I read your posts and I am grateful for the knowledge of Greek that you share.

    God bless.

    Good Morning Alex,

I didn't mention the topic of our marriage to Christ. That was off topic from the original post.

I don't concur with the way you present this topic of our union with Christ because I believe your take on it involves error.

While I do believe what Scripture says about the church being the bride of Christ, I don't believe what you speak of concerning the "seed" of Christ impregnating us and believers "birthing" a baby Christ or Ghost. I think this is seriously wrong doctrine.

But we have been this route before. I do not wish to continue a conversation on with you on the topic of your reply to me.

    God bless you, Alex.

  • Alex N - In Reply on Psalms 97 - 2 years ago
When Isaiah said Isaiah 62 : 5 thy sons are gonna marry thee, Thats the H.G. our 1st born our only son as Zech 12 : 10 says....We are gona marry our spritual sons which are the Children of PROMISE the H.G....The spirit and the flesh are gona be made 1....When he spat on the ground he made clay of the spittal....Which implies a marriage....His word and the ground (humanity) are gonna be made 1...As he said the field is the world....so we see a marriage in the Spirit...And he anointed the eyes of the blindman with that clay...The Clay is humanity the bride, the Church...That New Creature that is married to Christ JESUS....Why is it a new creature simply b/c man and God are gonna be made 1...Thats what a Marriage is when 2 are made 1..That was his prayer that we all might be made 1...But this is a very unique marriage, We are gonna marry our sons which is the H.G. OUR 1ST BORN OUR ONLY SON...Which is Christ the son of man...Whosoever receiveth one such Child in my name receiveth ME.
  • Alex N - In Reply on Psalms 97 - 2 years ago
Gi Gi Gbu but you leave out something....The most important part is the marriage of God with humanity...We are gonna be made 1 with God..His SPIRIT AND OUR FLESH ARE GONA BE MADE 1....Thats y John said he that has the bride is the bridegroom....Our Flesh and his spirit are gonna be made 1...Thats y he has to know us,..Thats when the good seed is sown in our hearts...Being bornagain of an incorruptible seed even by the word of God that liveth ...That good seed is the living word not the written word as the letter results in death...But the spirit results in life.... Isaiah 62 : 5...As a young man marrries a virgin so shall thy sons marry thee..As the bridegroom rejoices over the bride,..So shall thy God rejoice over thee.

.....Thats y Jesus was saying to whom the Word came ( his seed ) it made them Gods...Thus he has to know us...If he does not know us there will be no seed deposited in our hearts thus no Child of Promise and no kingdom...Unless you receive the Kingdom of God as a lil Child you will IN NO WISE ENTER THERE IN...ok leme go

    Dear Ronald

That's right the Greek for spirit is pneuma. Pneuma (spirit) is God, the angels, the demons. But they don't have souls. So where is their concious, personality etc llocated? In their spirit of course. So the spirit is ourselves, our conscious, our thoughts, our emotions, literally ourselves. The soul ( gr phyche not psuche) is a lets say dress for the spirit, only people have souls not God not other heavenly existences.
  • Ronald Whittemore - In Reply on Psalms 97 - 2 years ago
    Hey Jennifer Zink,

    Just my understanding.

Soul and spirit are two different words, but some seem to think of being the same and are hard to separate in our mind. Hebrew word nephesh meaning a soul, living being, life, self, person, desire, passion, appetite, emotion. The Greek word psuche meaning the soul, life, self, a person's distinct identity. The soul is our personality, and is made up of our mind, our emotion, and our will.

The word spirit, the Bible writers used the Hebrew word ruach meaning breath, wind, spirit, or the Greek word pneuma also meaning wind, breath, spirit. The spirit in us is our breath that is our life, and it is the part of us that can communicate with God through His Spirit, God is a Spirit John 4:24.

In our soul/who we are, us, we live according to what we think, and we practice a wide range of human emotions, and we often respond to things according to how we are feeling. We magnify ourselves, even if what we do is good, we make decisions with our will. The desires of the flesh are very tempting, the spirit of the world.

When we are born again, we are born of the Spirit in our human spirit, He comes to live in our spirit. We receive God in our spirit and magnify Him through our soul like Psalms 69:30 Luke 1:46-47. It is like we walk into a room and flip the light switch the flow of the Spirit turns on the light that shines out of our soul.

There will be daily battles of the soul/flesh and spirit, they are contrary to each other. Our spirit/conscience the recorder of all we do and think and what is written in the books. The spirit is the steering wheel of our soul. We can be like the song, Jesus take the wheel, or we can crash and burn our soul.

    God bless,

    Hi Suze,

You are right. No created being is eternal as God alone is Eternal with no beginning and no end to Himself as He is Life itself.

We will share in His eternal Life when we are changed from mortal to immortal and live forever like the angels, who can never die. So, wonderful that God chose this for us sinners. The holy angels never sinned and do not need to be redeemed yet they rejoice when a sinner repents and believes the Gospel of Jesus Christ, knowing that his new believer will spend eternity with them.

    Good Morning Alex,

Thanks for pointing out this passage in Corinthians. It is what i thought about when reading the posts on this thread. We are mortal now. We all have a definite beginning. Before that beginning we did not exist. Therefore, we are not eternal as God is eternal. The "Good News" is that, we will be changed upon after death and/or in the resurrection we will become immortal, living forever with the Lord. The angels are immortal, but not eternal like God is. They had a beginning but cannot die. Absolute eternity belongs only to God, but He, in His wisdom, love and grace, choose in His redemptive plan for us to share His eternal life with Himself and the angels. How wonderful is that!
  • Giannis - In Reply on Psalms 97 - 2 years ago
    Dear Jennifer.

    My understanding about this is:

Our spirit is us, ourselves, who we are, our egos, our personality, where our conscious is located, where emotions and thoughts are generated. Our spirit dwells in a spiritual body called soul, which because is spiritual it cannot live in the physical world. So we were given a physical body where the soul dwells in, so we can live in the physical world. The soul is eternal, cannot die. After death the soul is separated from the dead physical body and goes accordingly to one's life either with God in Heaven or away from God in hell. When our dead physical bodies will be ressurected they will be changed, they will become immortal, glorified, of a spiritual form. They will not get ill, not die, not get hurt...And the soul will again be united with our new glorified body and we are going to live together with our God in the new earth that God will make happily for ever.

Hi again Alex , these are the references that immediately spring to mind from the New Testament : Appollumi is the Greek word translated as perish and it means to destroy fully , Luke Ch 13 V 3-5 , all of Jude but especially V 5-13 , 1st Corinthians Ch 1 V 18-29 , 2nd Thessalonians Ch 2 V 3-12 , Revelation Ch 21 V 7+8 and Revelation Ch 22 V 11-15 . Hope these help explain my beliefs a bit better , much love to you in Christ .

Ezekiel Ch 18 V 20-24 , we are in agreement Alex , if we have entered into a covenant relationship with God , then when Christ returns we shall be judged and then hopefully made immortal . I'm looking forward to this most awesome day , imagine the love that shall surround us as the bride of Christ , it's going to be overwhelming , I can't wait to meet everyone on here , there are going to be hugs ! Much love in Christ . If you can wait a day or two I can give more references , I'm so busy helping my mom and step dad at the moment , I want to answer properly but don't always have the energy .

Suze Gbu and i know that you know more about the bible then i do...But let me just say this....1 st Cor.. 15 : 53..This Corruptible must put on Incorruption and this mortal must put on immortality...then comes the saying death is swollowed up in Victory O grave where is thy sting. O grave where is thy victory etc..The sting of sin is death etc...So maybe we are gonna be immortal

.....In a moment in the twinkling of an eye we are gona be changed...And the dead will be raised incorruptible...But thanks be to God that gives us the victory thru Christ Jesus....And we also have to remember what Jesus said to whom the word came it made them Gods...And the scripture cannot be broken....Something to think about

Hi Julian , I'm honestly not trying to be contentious and this is a genuine comment , I don't believe that we humans are eternal , only God is eternal , if we were eternal then death wouldn't be our enemy or a punishment for our sins or need a sacrifice for us to continue living , do you see what I'm saying ? If we were eternal than death would be nothing to us . I hope I explained myself ok . Death is the enemy and without Christ we would be in big trouble .

Our pastor taught about being Spiritual. I studied this in the bible and found that the your soul and spirit are two very different things. 1 Thessalonians 5:32 is a starting point. 1 Corinthians chapter 2 explains how we operate in the spirit. Our soul is carnal, and eternal. The soul is us, who we are, while the spirit is given us to God to communicate with Him.

We Can see even David knew Jesus was coming way after his death. His writing's indicate that

he knew Jesus and God were one!! The battle is won we only have to stay focused on Christ either until we are call home or he coming back to rain.

The last verse says give thanks at the remembrance of His Holiness. Unless we know holiness,we can’t give thanks for it. The Word says be ye Holy as He is Holy. It’s not something we do but what He does in us by His Spirit. He makes us Holy after the purging of the carnal nature we were born with, by the Holy Ghost. Hebrews 12 says without Holiness no one shall see God. Thank you Lord for Holiness

Verse 10 tells us to hate what is evil or bad from God's standpoint. This takes effort because bad things may appeal to our fallen flesh.
