If it was your mate that did the adultery, then you may divorce them and are free to marry another.
  • Terri on Psalms 3:3 - 4 years ago
I think that this is a great verse to remind us that we are safe with Jesus Christ and we don't have to worry how big the enemies army is!

CommentThough God loved David not because he did commit sin but because he always repent and forsake his sin and felt sorry to have done that

This is a wonderful Psalm by King David of Confidence, Faith, Trust in God while facing immense trouble of a rebellious uprising led by his own son Absalom. He begins by acknowledging the great multitude assembled against him, but then refuses to be afraid knowing that God has delivered him from past troubles. David looses no sleep over the situation, and ends the Psalm with rejoicing and praise unto the Lord. A popular song is even written after this Psalm "Thou, O Lord." Thank you Lord.

PSALM chapter three for the third day of the first month of 2020, Guided by Holy Spirit on 11 day of 12 month 2019 to begin with PSALM chapter 11, I missed a few days but caught up now. This one shows me of my life as a child. Growing up as outcast among classmates and black sheep in the family . I became withdrawn. Low esteem suicidal. For all of that I was institutionalized many times but GOD

Let's remember that while David did sin and was a man of war, he knew how to break his heart before God. God did serve His justice upon David by not allowing him the joy of building temple and he allowed David to suffer greatly due to choices. David was not perfect and made many mistakes yet God still chose him. Just as He does with us today, but remember to not misuse His grace toward us.

Asking God to slap the faces of our enemies so hard as to break their teeth seems like a strange thing to ask Him to do. I cannot imagine Jesus doing that to someone.

It was David's sin that caused such pain, he thought he could hide it, he knew in his heart he couldn't, he loved God with all his heart soul and might and nor can we. Deuteronomy 24:16 The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin.

What I love about this particular Biblical Scripture is despite of his sins he still prayed , rejoiced in God . This shows us that no matter what we do we all have a High Priest ( JESUS ) who loves us very much and forgives no matter what we’ve done. His love is eternal and he said David he called him by name David I love thee come and sup with me and belong to me as my dear friend. David prayed.

To Bob the builder. II Samuel 12:7-14 It all goes back to David's disobedience. A man that willingly desires to commit adultery should heed his punishment. Verse 5. Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house...For thou didst it secretly: but I will do this thing before all Israel. Absalom's hatred goes back to the humiliation of his brother's incest that David did not correct.

The saddest part of this whole passage, is that his "enemy" was his own son. Didn't David teach his children about the Lord? You'd think that a "man after God's own heart" would have been more diligent about instructing his family.

Verses 2 and 3~Although many were saying that David had nobody on his side, they did not acknowledge the fact that Jehovah God was on his side. With the most powerful God in the universe on his side, David really did not need another human on his side.

David knew the Lord, before he met his enemies, who did not know him or the Lord.We may hear the voice and sayings of God's enemies, our enemies, but truth is only in what God has done and will do.Sustaining us,giving us rest and insight, move us to sing God's praises and hope in him.Faith/trust comes by hearing the Word of God,and so we should grow daily unto his glory for his purposes.

"LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me." Written for 2 Sam 15:12 "And the conspiracy was strong; for the people increased continually with Absalom;" The Holy Spirit guided David to put the Psalms in the order best for instructing what is the course in life we take in Christ, and what we are set to encounter in a world hated and hostile to the Spirit.

Hello Bill, Happy and healthy New Year to you! It is very moving to read the story of Absalom's rebellion and so terrible destruction! I think its important that the Spirit had David put this Psalm; about probably the most tragic and dangerous events in his life; in the beginning of the Books. And following the message of the 2nd Psalm, really brings the truth home to our real lives even stronger.

The longer we are in this world, the enormity of sin we see and understand/experience the effects of.Our confidence in God has he given to us through exposure to his word."Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing the word of God."Rom.10:17 God will triumph over the tens of thousands of peoples, and we will see it,in his timing,at his pleasure, as his people have blessings unto the remainder of eternity.

We are in the vast minority of the world.
We will have many come at us for our
faith in the Lord Jesus. Jesus said we
are not above Him. If He was persecuted,
so will his followers. When we go through
sore trails, people led by the spirit of this world,
scoff, these say to us, 'Aha, where is
their God now? We stay steadfast in faith
and the belief in the Love Jesus gave to us.

Verse 5 I love it when at the end of the day that I can go to sleep in perfect peace, knowing that God has forgiven me of all my sins confessed and also that He holds my salvation in His hands. That is a restful night!
