To me this verse means that whether the foundations be destroyed or not God is still God. While the righteous may do nothing abouf that, God who knows what is in Msn 's heart will judge and uphold the righteous. They will not stumble becausd of fhe ruined foundations but they will still stand on the rock and remain steadfast.

If our forefathers had laid faulty/fetish foundations,we are to replace them with the foundation of JESUS the CHRIST and follow up with the study of the word(scriptures)and prayers.

I AM SO GRATEFUL THAT GOD IS HOLY. HE IS SO POWERFUL BUT HOLY. HE HAS OUR BEST INTERESTS AT HEART. HE DOESN'T ABUSE HIS POWER.THAT IS ONE OF THE MANY REASONS THAT I LOVE HIM. I SHUTTER TO THINK IF HE WAS NOT HOLY, WHAT HE COULD DO TO ME.
  • Beverley on Psalms 11:7 - 11 years ago
Righteousness exalt a nation but sin is a reproach to any man. when mankind start living a righteous life, God will hear our cry and he will be pleased with us.
  • Toni on Psalms 11:7 - 11 years ago
"Be ye holy, for I am holy"... God is calling for righteousness in the earth. Those who obey His voice, walk in His statutes and keep His commandments, He will be pleased with. His eyes are over the righteous and His ears are open to their cry.
  • TR on Psalms 11 - 12 years ago
In verse three a searing question is asked; "If the foundations be destroyed, what do the righteous do?" It is noteworthy that through all the rest of the Psalm, the righteous are not required to do anything; except (implicitly) to do their duty. We need not fret or fuss or flail about. We need not create yet another program or form another committee. We do well to look up, see the salvation of God, and keep plowing our row. David's answer is that "God is in his holy temple, his eyelids behold the children of men." As Bonhoffer said, "It is the mark of a mature man, as opposed to callow youth that however much he longs for the object of his desire, he stays at his post and does his duty." We have not the strength to resist the evil in this world--but GOD does, and will. Our sober faithfulness and unflinching allegiance to the Spirit and teachings of Jesus will, in the end, be the occasion of God's triumph in human history.

  • Christopher on Psalms 11:3 - 12 years ago
Foundation holds any structure. In fairness to our Christian faith Jesus Christ is the sure foundation. For the righteous to maintain a cordial relationship with the Almighty Father, He has to be in tune with God through Jesus Christ. If there should be any corrosion as a result of sin, confession should be made immediately though the righteous does not deliberately commit sin. The believer has a solid foundation in Christ and must continually depend on Him in all ramifications to avoid any trespass as a result of sin that will give an open room for the devil who is the enemy of our soul.
