In answering mr kana s question I think most religions in the world can never be fully understood. That is why in most catholic prayers and indeed apostle Paul used the word Mystery of the gospel. If u will follow Christ don t seek to unerdstand it the bible say just believe,it say
have faith. The bible say the secret of the lord is with those who fear him
Matthew, 3 16,... Jesus is born with holy spirit or the spirit of God , in this verse Jesus is baptized with John , at that time the God's spirit or the holy spirit is descending up on him like a dove.already Jesus is born with God's spirit or holy spirit . Then again the holy spirit has come on Him like a dove up on him . why. I am not criticising the bible . but I WANT TO KNOW THE CLEAR MEANING OF THIS VERSE.
let us not have full information about the bible but let us meditate the bible as the mind of Christ ll speak to us and understand the word of God. aussurance of our salvation by faith ....ll let us to enter the kingdom of God....
Christ was baptized not because he was born in sin he was baptized for 4 main reasons: First, because it was the right thing to do at that point in time second, it was a sign to his cousin John the Baptist that he was the holy one sent from the Father to save us from sin third, Christ's baptism identified him as part of the Godhead that is why the Father and the Holy Ghost showed up at the baptism and fourth, to show us the true meaning of humility although he was God in the flesh he allowed his cousin John to baptize him. Nothing deep about Christ's baptism.
John and Jesus were cousins. John was an ascetic, withdrawn from the world in order to find God. He was at the height of his fame for all men came to him to learn what he had achieved with God. Jesus also was on a Spiritual quest for he stayed back at the Passover to learn from the Pharisee who studied the Torah daily and disputed with one another over the meaning. Everyone was waiting for the Messiah. Was it Jesus? To this day it is the world's biggest controversy. Christians say he is the Son of God. Muslim's say God has no partners but only worshipper's. Jews are patient and are still waiting. I say "Worship whom Jesus worshipped" He was clean from sin and devoted more than anyone. He was not the only resurrected but was the only one to reappear in the flesh to increase the faith worship whom Jesus worshipped.
There is a deeper Baptism in the Holy Spirit which purifies us in rebirth, a metanoia in the spirit of God indeed, suffering brings wisdom! we, then, realize experientially that we're essentially spirits, infinte, having a mere, transient human experience. So many, tragically unwittingly, die before giving birth to themselves in the deepest, transcendent sense... Amen.
Pamela, John the Baptist was the forerunner of Christ. He went out preaching to people that the savior was coming. He baptized people to cleanse them of their sins. At this point they were not filled with the Holy Ghost. When Christ was baptized, the Spirit came down to dwell with him. The Holy Ghost did not enter mens into their hearts until after Christ was crucified and ascended into Heaven. The Holy Spirit is know as the comforter, and would dwell with men after Christ was gone from this earth. In those days, a priest had to make intercession with God on our behalf. He also required a blood sacrifice for payment of sins. And the symbolism of being baptized is to wash away all our sins, be buried with Christ, rise again and to walk in a new "spiritual" life. John's ritual immersion bath was different for other practices of the day because he did not baptize Gentiles in order to become Jews. Instead he baptized Jews and Gentiles who had repented of their sins as the true children of God ready for the Messiah when He came. This he did before anyone knew Jesus. Once Jesus was know, Jesus would then baptize them with the Holy Spirit.
Was it Jewish tradition to baptism before Jesus? Why was John the Baptist baptizing before Jesus was crucified for us? What was the purpose? What was the connection with belief in Jesus or in loving God? Was John the Baptist the only one doing it? Was that the first appearance of The Holy Ghost? I was under the impression that The Holy Ghost is connected to the crucified Jesus. So, there is God, and the Son, and The Holy Ghost. All are God...in One...but different forms...in sequence???

Part 3 of 3 You have to also remember that the Bible is written to the truly saved people, therefore we are to maintain good works. Titus 3 8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men .

Part 2 of 3 However, if you are talking about did we do anything to merit salvation? The answer is no we did not because our own self righteousness will not get us into heaven, Titus 3 5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost This is why you need to do more than just believe and live right. The devils believe and tremble, James 2 19. We have to take it a step further and follow Acts 2 38. Our own righteousness is as a filthy rag, Isaiah 64 6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags and we all do fade as a leaf and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away .

Part 1 of 3 Hello Marc Jesus did do something pretty remarkable before God made that statement. This statement can be interpreted in twofold. Luke 2 40 "And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom and the grace of God was upon him ". Jesus, at the age of twelve, held conversations with the doctors in the temple for three days. They were astonished with his questions and answers. The twofold answer is that Jesus Christ is God manifested in the flesh. If I can say it like this, so not only was he pleased with what he had done thus far but he was pleased to be dwelling in him. In Colossians 1 19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fullness dwell Colossians 2 9 For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily .
And interestingly, at the time God spoke, Jesus had accomplished no miracles or did anything that would warrant that expression from God, EXCEPT that He was well pleased with Him BECAUSE He was His Son... NOT because of His works, but purely based on God 's love for Him. And that is where we, as believers need to trust that God is well pleased with us, not because of what we do, but by who we are sons and daughters of the Living God !
If you will notice God said that Jesus was His beloved Son in whom He is well pleased God was and is not proud of His Son Jesus and neither will He be proud of us His children No where in his word does He talk about being proud of anything because pride is not of God Pride and being proud in and or about anything will always go before a fall !!!God always talks about what pleases Him. So should I be in my every day walk of life. I told my son that I would not be proud of him but that I would be pleased with the accomplishments he makes in his life. He thought I was a fruitcake at first but then he realized and accepted that I would be pleased with him !!!!! You take a bold stand on what God has revealed to you in His word long enough and others will follow along even though they may not know and understand !!! Isn 't God GOOOOOOOD !!!!
I learnt dat we shud repent and forsake all our sins and come to God now dat he can be found, for tomorrow maybe too late, repentance is now. There is also need to spread God 's word to all people in ur area, city, villages, communities etc.Baptism is also important, therefore,we shud repent,be baptised and preach God 's word to all people.
Well,as for me,I understood this verse very well.It is talking about howJohn the Baptist went about preaching the gospel to all nations by telling them to repent and be baptised. He baptised them and also baptised Jesus Christ.

The end of this chapter teaches us that Jesus is seperate from the Father and the Holy Spirit. All three are mentioned as distinct individuals. How can he be his own father? He prayed for his disciples to "be one, as he and his father are one " obviously he didn 't mean for the disciples to become one person. All three are Gods.
John the Baptist was talking about the Jewish people. God called them to spread Jis kingdom, but they didnt. So in Jesus God calls people from all nations who will be faithful. Israel is the chopped down tree. He says the axe is aready laid to the roots.
I am so thankful that i am memorizing this chapter even all of Matthew is amazing but right now i am on Matthew 3. i am very thankful to have the LORD 'S WORD!!!
