Here is a link for you with "repent" everywhere in the NT. Repenting from sins is not the actual "free gift" of Salvation that God gave us through Jesus Christ. He lived a perfect life for us. No person is perfect. Though repenting and turning from the sins of this world is what God wants us to do, live Holy lives, and will show you are truly trying to follow in the footsteps of our Lord Jesus Christ. Producing good fruit of the Spirit and living for the Will of our Father.
"And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now...".
This is just another way of saying, "Permit or allow this (special) baptism to proceed". I suppose it might also include the thought that John the Baptist was strongly opposing such a baptism, as hardly Jesus needed to be baptized. But Jesus quietly pleaded that John should perform it, for the fulfilling of all righteousness (i.e. to acknowledge His Coming, His Witness, & the receiving the Holy Spirit for the inauguration of His Ministry).
Jeffrey Barrett Perfected in Christ on Matthew 3 - 4 years ago
John the Baptist was not very impressed with Billy and Franklin Graham, nor T. D. Jakes nor the Pope when they came to be baptized confessing their sins. John called the public ministers of his day who held great sway over the church and people in all religious matters and the understandings of serving the Living God. John the Baptists who had the Spirit of God with Him of whom God said John was the greatest of all prophets because God spoke the clearest through him. And John was announcing the new strange thing Jesus and God were doing bringing Jesus exact nature and God's indwelling presence in intimacy to reconcile all mankind to God once again and bringing the hope of glory and eternal life.
God spoke of those He and Jesus were Perfecting in their flesh YOU are greater a prophet than John the Baptist who had not the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with evidence of God's indwelling presence with love, Knowledge, wisdom and Power after the evidence of Speaking in the Heavenly language of prophetic tongues which is God speaking in prayer to and through you for understanding and guidance.
John says Oh Generation of Vipers about these religious fakers in that day and in this as well because they preach No One Is Perfect while on the earth in his flesh. But here was the Son of God as our high priest in the flesh manifesting the indwelling presence of the Living God in sinless Perfection and God's Righteousness in His flesh as our example which God and Jesus said is our image when God cleans us and lifts us from our repented sins. Oh you generation of Vipers who has revealed to you the wrath that is to come. In Job God calls these False Religious men whom come before God in prayer whom he despises SATAN, and reveals their wickedness toward anyone who dares approach God without their approval and through their fake understandings and dead doctrines but not intimacy with God in His grand scheme to lift you suddenly into Christ so you can have a face to.
In Isaiah 7:14, the word is spelled out using the Hebrew/Chaldean/Aramaic spelling, Immanuel. Whereas in Matthew 1:23, Emmanuel is taken from the Greek spelling, Emmanouel. Both mean exactly the same: God with us.
Repenting from your sins and accepting Jesus as your savour is the first step step. Living for Him from now on is your duty to Him. It don't mean we will not mess up now and then. When you do, confess that sin and try, try again.
Baptism doth now save us. I like to believe that in baptism our body is literally buried in death with Jesus Christ. Likewise, when we rise out of the water that we are raised a new creature ,raised in the life of Christ. putting on Christ. The sacrament also being the literal body and blood of Jesus. That we remember what he has done, and pray his body and blood will sanctify and cleanse us from all unrighteous. Doing this as often as we need to. Especially, in times of temptation and when men will fall away from the faith.
Repentance is essentially about changing our way of thinking and agreeing with God in regard to our sin and our need of Jesus Christ. It is the LORD's work to perfect us as we persist in walking daily with him:
Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. ( Jude 24-25)
Salvation is a free gift from God through Jesus Christ whose perfect righteousness is credited to us when we trust him as our Savior. Salvation was purchased by Jesus' blood shed on the cross, and made certain by his resurrection from the dead.
Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. ( Romans 5:18)
But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. ( Romans 10:8-13)
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. ( Ephesians 2:8-9)
Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, ( 2 Timothy 1:9)
"Man of the dart, the son of Enoch, and grandfather of Noah. He was the oldest man of whom we have any record, dying at the age" "of nine hundred and sixty-nine years, in the year of the Flood" ( Gen. 5:21-27; 1 Chronicles 1:3).
So here we a 1 recorded witness of God and there are others they all say the same , This is His Son .
Where does God say by witness anything other than this is His Son ?
Attempt all you want you will never find it unless you can not hear the truth , I do understand some will never truth because they don't have ears to hear . Like the Pharisees they are still among us .
Matthew 3 is a conscious altering dialogue, which speaks to the total of the Gospel.
The Chapter begins with the appearance of John, in the wilderness and introduces Jesus, in need of Baptism. The doctrine of John preached was that of repentance. It could be said that repentance calls for a reversal and correction of social and spiritual behaviors. Though preaching John was able to reach the hearer of the Word, in the wilderness of Judea. John concludes, "Repent ye, the Kingdom of God is at hand. John states to Jesus, " I have need to be baptized unto thee and comest thou to me?." Jesus responded, " suffer it be so now for thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness.
My best study times are done with the Holy Spirit. He always has time for us. I read out loud and ask questions. When He reveals the answer, it's like I hear His voice in my chest or next to my right ear.
I have to turn off the media. I hear him better sitting in the floor. Sometimes He sings a song that I know and it gives me tears of joy, really. I try to sing back and sound not so much like a frog. I'm glad there will be big choirs so I can croak with power. :)
If we work on our relationship with Him, he will help us with our other relationships. I went through a couple of years forgiving others, forgiving myself often. He had to help me untangle the webs we weave in self deception.
If we will read His Word slowly and read all the center of each page reference columns (that match the tiny alphabet letters); you will be amazed at how so it opens up the total picture of what you are studying. I call it "seek and you will find", studying. I take a ton of notes; and date anything the Holy Spirit speaks.
Next week I'll be in the Prayer Request room, 'cause people get sad during holidays. Maybe this year we can forsake Halloween and celebrate the LORD of the Harvest?? Well I haven't done Halloween for 36 years. It doesn't compute in my heart.
Wonder how fast Chick Tracts can send a bunch of tracts on "what Halloween is?" (The little comic like Bible Tracts all the children love to get :). All my neighbors are ancient like me lol. I can ring their doorbell and give them a comic book tract. Sounds fun.
Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
2By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
3For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
4For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
5Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
6This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.
Does anyone know of any church that uses the 66 books of the Bible to teach from? Many claim to, but...
Also I prefer the KJV(1611) Bible as most other translations use different words or interpretations. I believe the Word of God should only be changed by God. I have faith the Holy Spirit will reveal, teach and/or guide.
I am also a Protestant. I have many Catholic friends and family that I pray for, but personally cannot align their beliefs with scripture.
I am not picking on anyone, or judging anyone, fot that is not my place. That is Jesus's domain. He claims to have many flocks and His offer is open to all who accept His grace, hear His voice, and follow His testimony.
My fear is not only are we loving in the Latter Days, but that we are living in the days when "they will search for the Word and shall not find it."
Am I alone?
I do not believe the Old Testament was "Nailed to the Cross". As previously mentioned, I believe in the Bible. The OT is full of prophecies that have not occurred.
I am seeking edification and seem to be outside of most church denomination "circles" now-a-days.
I love the Lord and spend countless hours studying and researching His word. But with the amount of knowledge doubling every 4 years, it is very hard to discern truth from fable.
I pray that I have not offended anyone, and if so, humbly ask for your forgiveness.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Blessings and Prayers.
Andy you sure do like to promote Your website here in this forum along with blunt criticism to any who post within. Everything everyone says is wrong so why are you here? (Rhetoric) Why not put more focus on Your site and allow This forum to be what IT is. Maybe craigslist is a better marketing option. Your "36 year" spiel is over redundant. You are selling a book(skeptical in nature) and we understand what traffic to a website does.. For someone claiming so many website hits you sure are fishing awfully hard.
Just allow this forum to be what it is and post your deception criticism within your site until your heart is content. All of your posts are clearly for self promotion. "We" "our" "us" over and over comment after comment.

God the Father said about Jesus .
Keep it in context to understand the bible .
Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. ( Jude 24-25)
