John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. Based on the research I have done, born of water means Jesus, He is the living waters. Of the Spirit is when you come to believe have the faith, the trust and accept, that Jesus is truly the Son of God, who came down from heaven, from the Father, to pay for our sins, who suffered, was crucified, died, and on the third day was risen back to life. Jesus is the only way to eternal life, that He is the bread of life, and the Savior of the world. When you come to this stage, the Holy Spirit comes to live in you and your heart becomes circumcised and all you pretty much want to do is to please and obey God, and your resistance to sin is stronger. Mind you need to keep eating the bread of life which again is Jesus. In order to stay healthy and alive, you need water to wash with, and you also need water to drink and food to eat. To gain eternal life it is the same thing, but it is not water and food from this world, it is Jesus. You are baptized through Jesus, the living water, and you need to get the bread of life, again Jesus.
Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. It rains on the just and the unjust. One is not a child of GOD until after faith has been placed in Christ being the only begotten Son of God. The wind listeth, meaning its movement. This moving of the Spirit is not under order or control of men. The Spirit moves as the wind effects objects for God's intended purpose, but men have a will to either yield to that purpose or withstand it. Men hear the sound of the wind as it bristles through the trees. Just as men are trees and the Spirit of God working in men's lives we see and hear the results yet not knowing the when and where the Spirit is going to move upon a person. We don't see the wind working but only by the results of it blowing. Jesus told us his words are spirit. This idea correlates to the effects of the wind. It is His words which affected the hearts of men. Either in receiving His words or those same words rejected infuriated those religious leaders. His words always stirring the soul and directing towards belief, just as the wind blows in many directions, yet when the Spirit moves it is in a specific direction with purpose. Jesus spoke to a people familiar with sailing. A variable wind isn't reliable and indicates a storm approaching. Storms in life often bring confusion and contrary winds of adversity, yet again when the Spirit moves it is intended to fill the sails allowing the ship to move in the right direction and reach the intended shore making it to the other side. The Spirit does not always move pleasantly, and Satan's imitation of the Spirit brings adversity in the midst of storms, yet we by faith can see that the stormy winds are either for our chastisement or God proving us and to us He has control and turns that evil purpose of Satan's adverse winds into good. We have Eurocledon, truly a wind meant to destroy ships and drown sailors in the sea, but we see direction and purpose turn that wind into good for Paul and all aboard. We see Jesus walking on the water rebuking the winds of adversity and bringing calm in our lives as children of God. Hurricane Sandy brought great destruction to the North East of United States. I would have to say this example is one where mankind will come together to help each other and rebuild and repair the damage caused by Sandy. People will have work where they had no work. Great stories of survival and rescue will be told. Those who give God the deserved glory will have effect on the hearers to either place faith in God or in humanity; one receiving God, the other receiving humanity and missing the purpose of God. John 3:8 is Jesus giving analogy comparing the wind and The Holy Ghost. We only skim the surface of all the meaning found in the word of God as found in the King James Bible. Some would dare to limit and make lifeless God's word and thus provide a private interpretation. The word of God is to excite the mind, cause deep reflection into its meaning and affect our hearts to bring us into the will of God beginning first at salvation. The word of God is alive and not trapped in the confines of intellectualism and dogmatic interpretations, but will always be found in perfect harmony just as it is found right in the King James Bible. It brings life to the hearers and refreshing just as the wind can and does.
This Chapter shows that God the Almighty has mankind in mind always. It also shows that there is hope for mankind and that God the Creator has not abandoned human race. The chapter also shows how God our Heavenly Father place value on human race by sending His only begotten son to come and die for us, so that we can be reconciled to Him in fellowship and live eternally.
I like this verse because Jesus died for me, and not only that he gave me hope when he was raised from the dead which none else ever did, he also gave me salvation.
I'm very happy about this verse because it says who ever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life. Thank you lord for this everlasting life and making us to become sons and daughters of God.
Jesus is the water, the water of LIFE, John 3:5 also reads John 4:14. I think the water and spirit consist in believing on his name, in him Christ, is the saving grace, Christ will save you. Just like the BIBLE says so.
for God "SO" loved the world. That is, Iam part of the world who even believed in him an added advantage. THIS IS THE BEST INTERESTING VERSE IN THE BIBLE
Jesus shed his blood on the cross so that we may be reconciled to God. To be born again the bible tells us we must first believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that he died for the sins of the world and rose again on the third day. If you believe this then ask Jesus to forgive you of all of your sins an he will come in to your heart and make you a new creature in Christ. After you accept Jesus, you need to be baptized and you will know without a doubt you have been born again.
So the fact that Jesus is commanding (well ok u dont think that)but is telling a grown man that if he was not born again he could not see the kingdom of heaven and then went on to command, I mean, tell him, except he is born of the water and spirit that he cannot enter the kingdom, call it what u may, it was indeed a commandment meant for the 1st century church, and the end time church today! Then it picks up again in Acts where the very word command is used multible times check it for yourself.. sir, Jesus said if U love me obey my commandments So if u love him obey his commandments. The born again message that was bourne out of this chapter entwined its way into the message of Pentecost when Peter COMMANDED a multitude of 3000 on that 1st day; to repent and be baptised every one of you name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and the promise of the Holy Ghost. Well anyway I think Jesus was commanding it. Just a little insight
I have to say this verse never made much sense to me until I read peoples bible notes above and now it goes with the rest of the chapter. No one sees the wind but the evidence of it leaves blowing, a flag waving etc. Believing in Christ is not what causes the wind to blow or the spirit to move but the opposite. The spirit moves on or in the elected child of God then faith appears.
i once viewed this as a comandment, but its not, its a statement of fact In order to experience the kingdom of god you must be born from above. which no man can do based on his on choosing or doing, its the choice of God according to his gracious election.
In response to Mary's comment. These two verses dont actually talk about salvation. It just states two very basic truths 1. God needed a vessel to carry out the act of redemtion he chose to do this in the likeness of man. So, God chose an embodiment of himself because the blood was going to need to be sinless and only God could do that. So God formed himself in the womb of a jewish virgin girl (mary)then live 33 yrs then to calvery. The other simply states that God Loved the world. No, what your looking for is much more of a blatant answer. The 1st light of God's salvation opens up in Jn3:3/3:5 then tracks itself all the way to the book of Acts starting on the day of Pentecost and all through the the book that is the unfinished history of the new test church. Read and you'll see that everytime salvation was met out they were mandated to repent ,they were baptised in Jesus Name for the what? the remission of sins, they recieved the Holy Ghost and began to do what? Speak in other tounges as the spirit gave the utterance! That is what I call blatant salvation. So dont be sold short. 16/17 r great scriptures no dought, but God has a salvation that goes beyond dought, beyond two settings of scriptures. RU born of water and spirit? read on Mary great truth awaits you.
JOHN 3:16 & 17 is my 2 favorite verses that is in JOHN 3.IT speaks about the SALVATION OF JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD,AND I LOVE THAT.Man kind everywhere needs JESUS CHRIST as LORD AND SAVIOUR.There is not a person that lives on the face of this earth that doesn't need SALVATION.WE ALL NEED JESUS CHRIST AS LORD AND SAVIOUR.WITHOUT JESUS CHRIST COMING IN OUR HEARTS AND SOULS WE ALL WOULD DIE AND GO TO THAT HORRIBLE PLACE CALLED HELL.(BUT THE GOOD THING ABOUT IT,IS JESUS CHRIST'S BLOOD CAN CLEANSE YOU, AND MAKE YOU AS WHITE AS SNOW.)IF YOU ONLY BELIEVE IN HIM,AND ASK HIM TO COME INTO YOUR HEART AND SOUL TO SAVE YOU FROM YOUR SINS.THEN JESUS WILL DO IT.HE SAID THAT IN ROMANS 10:9
Great job sis Carolyn. Greetings from member of First Pentocostal Church of durham nc. There is one Lord, One faith and one baptisim! Thankful for apostolic truth!!!
John chapter 3 tells us about a Jewish ruler named Nicodemus who chose to go to the Lord at night. He did not want to be seen by his people but he had a question he did not understand about "being born again." The Lord Jesus makes it very plain that unless we are born again and baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost we can not enter the kingdom of Heaven. As we read on in the Bible about baptism, we are given the formula for baptism in Acts 2:38 and we are told that the Holy Ghost is a gift from God and only God can give you the Holy Ghost and what a wonderful gift! The Holy Ghost teaches us and helps us every day of our lives. Jesus wants us to get as close to Him as we can while here on earth. He likes a personal relationship on a daily basis where we spend time with him and praise him and thank him for all he does for us. He hears our prayers for our families and friends and acquaintances and receives those prayers from us and always answers our prayers. He looks forward to hearing from us on a regular basis and is always there waiting for us to share with him and talk things over with him. Jesus loved us so much that he died in our place on Calvary so we could be saved. The Bible is our guidebook for life on earth. It is our responsibility to read our Bibles and learn about God. He teaches us right from wrong and we have no excuses when our appointed time comes to go before the Lord about not knowing about salvation because the Lord plainly tells us in his holy word how to be saved. He also tells us how to stay saved and know that we are saved and belong to him.
That is sense based reasoning, with unperfected mind.
In the eyes of God there is no boredom.
God bless you.
