The fact that people believe the word literally never ceases to amaze (and frighten) me.

This is for all of those who want to know where Caine got his wife. In those days, they spread out, and Adam & Eve lived a lot longer than we do today, I have been taught that because of this , that Caine married one of his sisters, their race was a pure race, so they had to marry into their families, later on God only allowed the Hebrew, after Moses to only marry their first cousins within their own tribes,{Reuben, Judah, Simeon,etc.I hope that this has been some help to you guys.

Enoch walked with GOD all the days of his life. And for this reason he did not die, but rather GOD took him. For us to be also taken by GOD on the DAY OF RAPTURE we must walk with HIM in all circumstances we may find ourselves.

Adam means Man
Seth means Appointed
Enosh means Morta
Cainan/Kenan means Sorrow
Mahalalel means The Blessed God
Jared means Shall Come Down
Enoch means Teaching
Methuselah means His death shall bring
Lamech (where we get lamenting) means the Despairng
Noah (see gen 5:29) means Rest (or Comfort)

Man (has) appointed mortal(s) sorrow; (but) the blessed god shall come down teaching| (and) his death shall bring the despairing comfort.

If you disect each and every passege you can really see a divine bieng weaving codes in the passeges.

i am confused as to where Cain had his wife, because the Bible told us that God first created Adam and Eve only, they had two sons,Cain and Able, and these are the four human being who leaved by than, so how come Cain got married, from whose daughter?.

How did Cain find another wife but Eve had sons? which they were not the first people on earth because we are told that Cain found himself a wife in the land of Nod....i need help

In the questions. I didn't realize that enoch and elijah went to heaven and then died. I thought that tey were caught up to heaven and never came back to earth.

chapter 4 verse 1 says and adam knew eve his wife; and she conceived , and bare cain so adam did father cain cathy understand what your reading because when eve said she was beguiled she meant enticed, tricked, fooled, manipulated , etc etc something like that and cain sinned because he was born a sinner like the rest of us because of eve's sin that brought sin to everyone except Jesus. I THINK IT IS SOME WHAT CONFUSION. HOW DID CAIN HAVE A WIFE WHERE DID THE OTHER WOMEN COME FROM? HIS MOTHER EVE WAS THE ONLY WOMEN, HOW WAS MORE PEOPLE PUT ON EARTH ?

@Myth Buster - Save it for another site. Also, do you really believe events occurred exactly as they happened in secular historical accounts? Weird you can put so much faith in a scientific book, that requires a good measure of deductive reasoning on topics with little evidence, and have so little faith in the Bible. You've busted nothing.

@ Trent. Sorry, but the bible was written by people. In fact, it wasn't even a complete book for almost 1400 years because of its litany of contributors!

Some people believe, albeit without any evidence, that it was 'the word of god' but that is an entirely different concept to it being physically written by god.

And Mica, why do you think at this point of history with all the scientific knowledge we have accumulated that we should 'believe what is written'?

Even though we now have plenty of evidence to explain how humans evolved we should still follow a hoard of stories which contradict each other, written by different authors in completely different periods of history to explain how we got here?

If you want to believe there is a god, fine, but please read up on some secular history, philosophy and biology to save yourself from dangerous levels of ignorance.

If the Bible was made up by a person, it would be dangerous to use names and genealogies that could be checked. But the Bible is full of names, genealogies, and proof of family lines that could be verified.

Howdy! I see that in Genesis 4:17 that Cain's wife bare Enoch. Also in Genesis 5:18 Jared begat Enoch. Which is true or are there two Enochs.

1) I'm pretty sure that if cain were satans son the Bible would have said that. No where in the Bible does it say this. It does say that adam knew eve and eve bore cain. That means cain is adams son.
2) I think some people are reading way to much into this. It's the Bible and it means what it says. If people lived 900 years...that means 900 years. God made it that way. It has nothing to do with oxygen or different calendars or any other far fetched reasoning.
3) believe what is written and don't add to it or take anything away. God gave this beautiful book to us to learn from and teach others. It is our ticket to the pearly gates! Take it literally!

The reason why they lived for so long was because the earth was much different before the flood. They had waaaaaay more oxygen back then.

5 chapters in and I am having alot of trouble seeing how anybody can take this literally. 900 years people lived in the bronze age? I'll keep reading. But I have alot of questions about the validity of these verses. I ask again if a literal interpretation is correct.

Good stories help us to understand reality - in English, however, "story" and "history" are two different words.

Cain was not the son of Adam. The serpent beguiled Eve. He was not a snake slithering on the ground, he was an upright, man-like creation. It was only after God cursed him that he became a snake- upon thy belly thou shalt go- Before he was cursed he was able to converse with Eve- Thou shalt surely NOT die- Eve had a sexual relationship with this not-quite-human creation and conceived Cain. After this act she had a relationship with Adam and conceived Abel. Twins were in her womb,but they had different fathers-not biologically impossible, as long as the 2 conceptions were very close together. Eve bares Cain and says I have gotten a man from the Lord. All life comes from God, whether that life is God's son or not. Cain had his father's nature from the beginning. His sacrifice was not pleasing to God and he became wroth. Abel was Adam's son and had a sacrifice which pleased God. In the meantime, Adam and Eve were having other children, the Bible does not say how old Cain was when he murdered his brother. So Cain marries one of his sisters and goes off from his parents. His offspring have his nature- the sons of men-, but Seth, the replacement for Abel, has Adam's nature- the son of God. But in the course of time, the sons of God looked upon the daughters of men, and the rest is history, the bloodlines becoming mixed. Not demons falling to earth and having sex with women, sorry. Read what the Bible says and don't put your own slant on it. Even Christ told the Pharisees- you are of your father the devil, to which they respond- we are not of that wicked one. It was Satan inspiring the serpent, who was so close to human that he could interbreed with them, that brought sin.

I don't know how people are getting that Cain is not Adams son when prior scripture says 'Adam knew Eve and they bore Cain and then she bare Abel '...which seems to be saying they are twins because it doesn't speak of him 'knowing'her again ...thoughts please ....

i ask myself how come they lived for over 100 years and more?!

the fact that cain is NEVER included in Adam`s family Chronology is correct. In the bible, after cain runs off to nod and gets married, it reveals his family tree. Then in a totally separate chapter, the bible lists Adam's family Tree. Cain is NEVER mentioned as Adam's son as far as I can tell. That alone shows that Cain is NOT Adam's son. So Cain can only be Satan's seed/son.

Satan was trying to sabatoge and stop the blood line of Christ to come. Satan's attempted to stop the bloodline again by allowing fallen angels to impregnate the women and having hybrids (giants/superpowers/etc.) God chose Noah's family because they were in Adam's geneology and were still pure. That's what the flood was about, to get rid of the hybrids and God promised to never flood the earth like that again. God reminds of of this promise frequently. The Rainbow after it rains is the reminder.

I know some people think how could satan or the fallen angels have sex with human women. Well they were deceitful. They did what ever it took to sleep with the women. They appeared as attractive men and propose themselves as whatever it was that was going to get them in the women's "pants"

Just a few things to keep in mind while reading the bible. It's there, just read it for what it is. Especially about Cain not being in Adam's Chronology. He is NOT Adam's son.

The notion that Satan had sex with Eve is ridiculous. angels and demons were created as heavenly beings. No where in Scripture are we given any inclination that heavenly beings have reproductive organs or sex drives. But we are told that in heaven there is no one married or given in marriage. So to think that Cain was of the seed of the devil is ridiculous. To think that the sons of God in Genesis that were spoken of in Noah's day were fallen angels is once again built upon a crumbly foundation. The sons of God spoken of are ones who were after the lineage of Seth, worshippers of God not self! They did backslide and committed fornication with women.

Up to this point you can see how CAIN and ABEL was spoken of with no daughters involvement. NOW you see sons and daughters. It would be foolish to think only CAIN and ABEL was the only ones conceived by ADAM and EVE.

The way I read the Word from what happened in the garden with Eve and the devil starts out with the exhaustive concordance Greek #1818 wholly seduced which I feel it was more than just a lie. Then,The figs hiding their private parts, them just being naked wouldn't of matter but them having sex with their bodies and being naked would matter after sex and then the sons of cain showing up as kenites and the fact that cain wasn`t included in Adam`s family Chronology and then what Paul says in 11Corinthians 11:2 and 3. For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy:for I have espoused you (Espouse you) to one husband,that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. But I fear,lest by any means,as the serpent beguiled #1818 Eve through his subtilry,so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. Now satan was trying to block and stop the blood line of Christ to come. With Christ saving the living ,Eve then would be theEve; because she was the mother of all living. In Gen. 3:4&5 that crafty lier and so it's all about The devil's lies. Gen 4 Adam knew his wife Eve (they had sex then came Cain.)
In 1Sam. 1:19&20 Elkanah knew his wife Hannah (they had sex they had a son.)and in Matt1:24&25
Joseph did not have sex with Marry until Jesus was born Matt 1:23. The devil did not have sex (knew)
Eve. The devil lied to her. 1Peter 1:23.
