This chapter written by Solomon is to give counsel in view of man's wickedness. He gives a series of proverbial sayings concerning wisdom & foolishness. Verse 26 probably refers to a loose woman (harlot). Solomon also refers to her in his Proverbs 6:24-29. Sadly, he uses the female gender to demonstrate his point of seduction, when both genders are equally responsible in the decisions they make. Solomon says that this is "more bitter than death": the seduction into sin's traps. However, he says, both righteous men & women are a rare find (vv 27,28). Not a nice picture at all, but again showing us that our hearts are "deceitful above all things & desperately wicked...." ( Jer 17:9).

I honestly used to struggle with moving ahead bcuz i was used to the former things which in my opinion were much more of what i can relate to as of now. But God set me free and i realize everything doesn't have to be picture perfect or in the same tune as what you're used too it just has to be God!!! A different singer, speaker, teacher or preacher can still relay the message if God is in it!!!

Ecclesiastes 7 is a good chapter which describes the folly of laughter and explains the real heart of man. It opens up reality and discards vanity in life by talking wisdom.

"Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools." Ecclesiastes 7:9 Why do we get angry? There are many things that can wear us down or catch us at a weak moment when we're weary or distressed. How do we let the furnace burn us all out and melt us, without "spontaneously combusting?" If we go back to the basics in the Sermon On The Mount for example , we do have a guiding principle to work toward but it will cost us everything we ever trusted in ourselves, to really have that wonderful grace living and working in us. We want to be the Blessed poor in spirit, those that mourn, the meek, etc but it is a gradual development through difficult training and many hard lessons to learn and there is a price! I wish more than anything that somehow by His great mercy and grace to really be that man after God's own heart, really and truly in His image and likeness and for ALL OF MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN JESUS LIKEWISE.

We need to think before we speak or we will regret what we say. It will make us look foolish and or we will have to apologize.
  • Angelica on Ecclesiastes 7 - 6 years ago
This was right on point, because immortality and immoral desires make us subcom to the flesh, it does make us surround ourselves with the ignorant and unloving, the unbelieving and unjust crimes that are a result of that human choice. We worry about being friends with man instead of being lovers of Christ and the Father, our Lord God. I know i have fallen prey to Satan's traps so many times that I can't count, but God has been there to clean up my mess. I love You Lord God, my Father and by and thru your Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. PLEASE make this journey that I am on a fruitful one that is long-lasting experience that benefits me, the ones I love and those that love me, so that I may someday be able once again to be a wise giving tree to your other children in the struggle. In Jesus name I pray. AMEN

Verses 21 and 22: As much as we hate being talked about, we have done or do the same to others. This will help us not to quickly take offense if we remember this fact.

Verse 29: God made man upright, but man chose to seek out hurtful schemes.

Vanity of vanities said Solomon in his search for wisdom and living in riches, he could still find vanity. God has allowed emptiness in our hearts no matter how much possession and success we may amass, for we were created to worship him and remain obedience to to his word so that he can be the one to fill the empty space and we'll find peace and love.

V.10; Haggai 2:3; Ezra 3:12 - When I came back to the church, and knew the former preacher had died, and heard the new preacher, I really liked the new, but - there was a yearning for the former. But I rebuked it in prayer and God has gotten me over that 'looking back'. I love the memories, but I need to ALWAYS be looking to God's new work toward His Kingdom.

The fact is Jesus was born, He came into the world to atone for our sins,He was resurrected, and He's alive today. This is what we should celebrate, as we are told in the Old Testament in such passages as Zechariah 2:10: Shout and be glad, O Daughter of Zion. For I am coming, and I will live among you,' declares the LORD. In fact Jesus Christ is Jehovah God in the flesh! Celebrate every day!!
  • Brianna on Ecclesiastes 7 - 7 years ago
Vs. 25 - I enjoy this verse because it prompts Christians to do research and look for the reason behind things. Example: as a Jehovah's Witness I do not celebrate Christmas. As expected many people ask: WHY? Isn't it about Jesus? After exploring the origins of Christmas, I found that it was a pagan holiday. Therefore, after searching for wisdom, I came to the conclusion that pagan and Christ = NO!

A fool is one that says no to God : A fool will proclaim all his anger : Anger works not the righteousness of God. With God's help I will be able to have control over any anger that I want to express, and not show it !!
  • BSP on Ecclesiastes 7 - 8 years ago
This shows that it is unwise to quickly become angry over everything. We should slow down and use our reasoning skills or let love cover over others faults.

HOW IMPORTANT IS THE WORD OF GOD IN YOUR LIFE??? IN ORDER TO LIVE IN THIS WORLD WE LIVE IN, WE MUST READ THE MANUEL THAT COMES FROM THE CREATOR OF THE WORLD! MANY PEOPLE VIEW THE BIBLE AS A SUNDAY MORNING BOOK TO CARRY TO CHURCH IN OUR HANDS! BUT IN ORDER TO HAVE AN SUCCESSFUL MARRIAGE, TO RAISE BLESSED CHILDREN, TO HAVE GOOD FINANCES, TO LIVE AN ABUNDANT LIFE WE MUST HAVE THE WORD IN OUR HEART DAILY! THE WORD OF GOD GIVES US THE WISDOM WE NEED FOR EVERYTHING WE FACE IN LIFE! IT ALSO GIVES US WISDOM TO HANDLE OUR ENEMIES AND SATAN HIMSLELF! THE WORD IS MORE THAN JUST A BOOK, BUT ITS THE VERY WORDS OF OUR CREATOR! IF U WANT SOMETHING REAL IN YOUR LIFE THAN THE WORD IS THE WAY TO GO! Amen! GLORY BE TO GOD!!!

  • BSP on Ecclesiastes 7:22 - 9 years ago
This is a great verse to keep in mind when someone may say something bad about us. It will help to slow down our anger and help us to be more fogiving if we recall that we have sad bad things about others before.

  • Paul W. Green on Ecclesiastes 7:3 - 10 years ago
this most beloved scripture occurred to me as I lay sleepless in bed early morning 7 26 14. I am thoroughly convinced of it 's efficacy in the truly longing heart. Interestingly enough just before that I had gone over the opening paragraph of a well known to me essay that touches upon the spirit and necessity of "the broken and contrite spirit " which is core to the "beauty of holiness ". which sorrow and sadness was epitomized through the sacrificial suffering and death of THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. Here it is. "MOSAIC " It occurred to me that it is generally composed of shards and bits of various materials. Taken separately they are quite meaningless and un noteworthy yet in the hands of the artist they are collectively transformed to such a gorgeous degree that hardly are we even aware of there actual unattractiveness apart from each other. Perhaps, by virtue of the artists ' vision they each become imbued by the over arching light of his design melding them almost unperceptively into the whole of a "NEW CREATION ".

I believe Solomon was saying do not be hurry in your spirit to be angry, analyze a situation, before you discover, in your haste you made a wrong decision. you will surely look like a fool.

I believe Solomon was so tired of "chasing the wind, " in so many areas that he just felt that leaving this man made spoiled world was a great relief. For the world and nature without man is a great place to be in this hugh and ever growing universe.
