    Verse 4 is considered to be one of the most important prayers in the Jewish liturgy. The significance of this prayer lies in distinguishing monotheism from the earlier pagan practices that recognized many different pagan gods. Each pagan god received prayers for a different purpose. This verse signifies a recognition that there is only one G-d for all purposes.
