Verse 36, Joses must be a Levite from birth but has rejected the teachings of his priestly station. As a Christian, Joses must have earned a living in some sort of activity. He has received the teachings of Jesus and has converted. So to own land, he had to have acquired it after becoming Christian. Levites, as already pointed out, can not own land by law. However, Joses is no longer accepting his station in life as a Levite. Joses was already not accustomed to land ownership so it seems he attained the land with the intention of selling it for a profit and donating the money to the Christian community.
