How did people get saved before the flood?
  • S Spencer - In Reply - 5 months ago
    Hi Bennymkje.

    Thanks for responding.

Yes I stated "God's requirement of what must be believed is based on the amount of revelation He has given mankind up to that time."

I also emphasized Salvation is by faith in the crucifixion of Christ.

The knowledge we have is what already happened and we believe and have faith in that. It's hindsight!

At best the old testament saints didn't have that knowledge.

They did sacrifices that pointed ahead.

    They didn't have 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, "For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

They was saved by faith and believed in what was given to them at that time.

As for the passage you mentioned in Romans 1 that applies to God Glory and his existence.

It contrast the idol worshipping of all sorts and the Idea that there is no true and living God!

Genesis 3:15 "And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; IT SHALL BRUISE THY HEAD, AND THOU SHALT BRUISE HIS HEEL.

That's the first mention of a coming savior.

I may be wrong but I believe Adam believed that, That's why he called her "The mother of all living"

Adam lost dominion and everyone after Adam and Eve inherit death.

Adam didn't name her that until AFTER they sinned and fell under the penalty of death.

Before then she was called Woman in Genesis 2. "..she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

Adam called her Eve "The mother of all living" After Adam hears the prophecy of Christ in verse 15 and his fate in Verse 19, "In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

There's another Adam coming! A life giving Spirit!

And he's coming through the Woman of all living.

The first Adam plays no role.

    God bless.

    Hi Poppybrown 75.

Those who were saved before the flood was by the same divine Will he made known in the Son. Jesus Christ the same yesterday today and forever. Those who were saved had no difficulty in understanding it , you see. God had revealed it to them as with His creation. (Ro.1:20) Seth,Enoch and the great many followed what God made manifest to them. Those who followed hermeneutics as we do in our times they also have their version. "And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually." (Ge.6:5) Of course the men did not call their lives wicked or evil being very much involved as to be objective. Tell next time when you hear any 'prosperity theology' or Christian nationalism coming from any platform that it is wicked or evil, you will understand what I mean.

Yes ! So many man pleasers using the smooth words , that we all can get sucked in by , in order to fill their own bank accounts . Beware of those wolves in sheep's clothing !

Adam and Eve knew God personally . They didn't doubt His existence or power . They believed in Him . After they were driven out of the garden of Eden , they began to reproduce . It's reasonable to presume that they told their offspring about God , just like the Israelites that wandered in the desert told their offspring about God . However , eventually people would have started not to believe in things that they themselves have not seen or experienced first hand . We read in Genesis chapter 6 just how bad people had become and how God felt about this . God chose to save Noah and his immediate family , He also chose to destroy everyone and everything else that he had made . That was God's judgement on them , He gave them a chance , Noah would have told everyone what was going to happen , he would have warned them about what God had told him that He was going to do . If any of them had chosen to believe Noah , I'm sure a place would have found for them in the Ark . No one believed God's Words that He gave to Noah . They didn't believe and so they died . When , in the history of those people who lived before the flood ,

that happenedd exactly , we don't know . Chapter 5 of Genesis gives us the genealogy between Adam and Noah . Some time in there , there was an awful falling away . Ultimately , God knows each and every person that He has ever given life to and He knows who is His . It's up to us as individuals to draw closer and closer to Him . We can't tell anyone else what to do and we are not responsible for the lives of others , all we can do is try but , it's up to all of us on an individual level to respond to the calling of Christ . Some just don't want to know and there's only so much any of us can do . We have a full time job trying to keep ourselves on the narrow path . Be as kind and as loving as you can to everyone , but remember to whom you belong and don't walk too close to the fire or you might get burned .

    Hi Poppybrown.

The basis of salvation has always been the death of Christ.

No one, either prior to the cross or since the cross, would ever be saved without that singular event.

Christ's death paid the penalty for past sins of Old Testament saints and future sins of New Testament saints.

The requirement for salvation has always been faith. The object of one's faith for salvation has always been God.

Ww look back in history and by faith, believe what is written.

God's requirement of what must be believed is based on the amount of revelation He has given mankind up to that time.

Adam believed the promise God gave in Genesis 3:15 that the Seed of the woman would conquer Satan. Adam believed Him, demonstrated by the name he gave Eve verse 20. ( The mother of all living )

The Lord indicated His acceptance immediately by covering them with coats of skin verse21. At that point that is all Adam knew, but he believed it.

Those coats of skin "from a sacrifice made by God" pointed ahead to Christ sacrifice that takes away the sin of the whole world.

    John 1:29.

You notice here the word "sin" is singular. This is the penalty of sin! Death. Separation from God.

Jesus came to redeem what was lost.

    Read Romans 5:12-21.

    God bless.

Hi Spencer, "If I am add to your line,"

You write, "Adam believed the promise God gave in Genesis 3:15 that the Seed of the woman would conquer Satan. Adam believed Him, demonstrated by the name he gave Eve verse 20. ( The mother of all living)

"And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living. Before Adam would name her God had brought all His creation to him. It was with regards to His helpmeet, that was his free will. "And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof./And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him."(vv.19-20) His helpmeet ('partner') is not what a mother is. He made him a living soul so that would meet the requirement of creature comforts. The Spirit instructs us what His breath has done. (It explains Rom.1:19-20) Adam called her Eve. Nothing there says Adam believed or called her mother as such. The Spirit is referring to the line, "over every living thing that moveth upon the earth." in Ge.1:28

Ro.5 the passage you cited explains why it encapsulates the very Spirit of Christ. One represents all. many sons of God on account of one man's obedience. May sons of Adam on account of Adam's disobedience. Now figure out where you will place the nation of Israel."When the Most High divided to the nations their inheritance, When he separated the sons of Adam, He set the bounds of the people According to the number of the children of Israel."(De.32:8)

Death entered into the world because of God commanded, "In that day"(Ge.3:17) that happens according to Re.20:12)

    Hi Spencer,

You write: "God's requirement of what must be believed is based on the amount of revelation He has given mankind up to that time."

Check it out with Ro.1:20,19 "Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them."

Revelation that God has given mankind is never piecemeal. His fulness in Jesus Christ is complete. "And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power."(Col.2:20) That makes a lot of difference does it not?

Co.1:19. According to his good pleasure "For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell."

He has also revealed his perfect will which is also complete. "by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven."

    Hi again Bennymkje.

I replied to you from my job on my cellphone. I didn't proof read it at all.

It seems I bundled my answers up.

As for the passage you mentioned in Romans 1.

It applies to God's Glory declaring his existence.

It contrast the idol worshipping of all sorts and the Idea that there is no true and living God!

I don't see where it fits in the question posted or my reply.

    Thanks and God bless.

Noted your reply,Spencer. I am down with a severe bout of sore throat and must conserve my energy for absolutely essential things. The Bible is plain for all, For the Spirit is a lamp etc., so explaining from it is not as essential for me as I have let my comments out on the matter. Have blessed days ahead,

    Bennymkje,

I will be praying for you today that you soon are made well from this illness.

Gig, May God bless and keep you; and my doc this morning set me on a course of antibiotics. God kept me through the day. Amen
  • GiGi - In Reply - 5 months ago
Well, glad you saw the doctor. You should be improved in a day or two with the antibiotics, but taking the full course is necessary so that your body doesn't rebound back with the same infection. I am always happy to pray for you.
