    Matt.25:31-33 "Goats" (2 of 2)

When Jesus said, " Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers." (23:32) they had choice of their fathers like Moses or Samuel. But they did not. " Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind could not be toward this people: cast them out of my sight, and let them go forth."(Je.15:2) This brings us to the significance of the scapegoat. This commandment came after the two sons of Aaron died for impiety. "And the Lord spake unto Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they offered before the Lord, and died."(Le.16:1) Scapegoat or Azaelel was a testimony that they did not purge their sins for want of true repentance on their part. Their sin was ever before them. The writer to the Hebrews also concur with David's cry."and my sin is ever before me./Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight."(Ps.51:3-4) Because of bad faith Yom kippur is only in name.

In the parable "When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:/And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:/And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left." Goats on the left has only one place to go. "And these shall go away into everlasting punishment."(v.46)
