"Also in the day of your gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, ye shall blow with the trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may be to you for a memorial before your God: I am the Lord your God."(Nu.10:10) This is Gospel of peace spoken by Jesus Christ. So the voices the Israelites heard was that Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh.
Trumpets serve as condemnation on the nation of Israel. They were so unnerved by the voice, "And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die."(Ex.20:19) How effective was it. They were as farther off than then when the voice from heaven spoke at the time Jesus was among them, "Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again./The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him./Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes./Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out." ( John 12:28-31). In the Book of the Revelation the trumpets stand for judgment according to the gospel.
