"I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."
Life in the flesh refers to the body formed of the dust of the ground. St Paul refers it to 'a vile body'. There is a body ("with our house which is from heaven,"-2 Co.5:2) which should make my transaction with Christ complete.. The cross and the nails were real so was his death and resurrection. The nearest thing that I can attain is faith and how I live. All things are possible because of the freedom in the Spirit but it is inconvenient. My faith should not cause a weaker brother any offence. So I ought to walk not by sight as Dinah did, going out to see the daughters of the land, or learn their ways and to taste,- experience what made them freak out in their own inner circle.(Ge.34:1).Is it worth our while or take up their culture?
If Matthias is crucified with Christ is he not interchangeable with other eleven disciples? Simon Peter stood the test by the grace of his Master and nothing else.
The fulness of God is what Jesus Christ signifies. He dies no more. The same blessing is conferred on every believer that has similarly lived so St Paul's declaration is ours as well. This is what Christian Living signifies. "For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life./Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit./Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord."(2 Co.5:6) At home in the body refers to the vile body that is subject to onslaught from the wiles of Satan. "Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall."(1 Co.10:12)
Like Abraham, we are all sojourners in this mortal life as we await our change wrought by the resurrection of Jesus to new life with new life that no longer will die, decay, or be corruptible by sin. How glorious that will be. while we wait eagerly for that moment, we put on Christ everyday as we live and breathe and have our being in Him even now. He is all to us now and will be all to us forever.
Thank you for the uplifting of my heart today with your post.
We all work according to the grace given to us,- and sufficient unto the day is all we need; and may the Lord bless us and daily be our comforter. "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me" Have a blessed weekend,
