Hi you might want to consider using this website's "Bible Trivia" you'll find that at the top of the website. Testing your bible knowledge is a way to create more curiosity or desire for God's word and build your faith. It takes time to build faith and desire the things of God. Vegetables are good for children, at first some children don't like what's good for them, however as a child matures and grows a taste and appreciation for vegetables for what is good for them can be established.

Similar for believers the cultivating of the mind of Christ Jesus is new and it takes time to rid the old mind or way of thinking. It takes time to adjust to new things. Jesus is very patient and long suffering with each believer.

"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." 2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV

If you accept Christ, you may not feel new right away, even though you are new, just believe it and live right, only believe what God's word has said about you. Only believe...God will satisfy your longing soul.

"Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is." 1 John 3:2 KJV

Believe the truth of God and not the untruth of the enemy. "(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)" 2 Corinthians 5:7 KJV

Believer's don't walk by feelings, this is a learning way.

Also, you might want to try other types of Christian activities, like art, drawing, music, puzzles, crosswords etc. just to stay motivated and excited about your faith and believeth in God.

For example, I have a picture of Jesus walking on the water I look at this picture it reminds me of that same scripture and helps me think about our wonderful Lord and Saviour Jesus the Christ. Let us not give up on ourselves, because God will not give up on us.

Perhaps getting someone to agree to be a prayer partner with you on a regular basis will help you establish a prayerful heart.

Agree, having someone to pray with a believer is a source of strength and encouragement in a believers' life.

Listening to an Audio Bible could help, you can also follow along the words of the bible as you listen to an audio bible you can find an audio bible on this website. If for whatever reason you don't read much, use an audio bible to listen to God's word on the daily. Stay encouraged, be blessed.

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Hebrews 11:1 KJV

"Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints." Jude 1:3 KJV

"These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth." Hebrews 11:13 KJV

"And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God." Mark 11:22 KJV

Search "faith" and read and meditate and pray scriptures about faith to build up your most holy faith. Fight the good fight of faith and continue to believe God and seek God. Stay encouraged...only believe in your heart and mind.

"And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." Luke 11:9 KJV

    Hi Aaron.

I would suggest doing the very thing you say you have trouble with.

    Keep praying!

Pray for the Lord to strengthen your faith and to continue reading your Bible.

May I ask what do you mean when you say, "when you do both things you feel like you get further away."

Is it your understanding, Is it conviction or something else? Maybe we can help.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    God bless.

Hello to you Brother . Two things you didn't mention your age and how long is it since your baptism . All relationships need time and effort for them to grow so it's the same with your relationship with God and with Jesus . You do have to put in some effort one of the easiest ways is to see your God everywhere . He is visible every day in His creation . I love nature and animals all of them and I can see God's wisdom and beauty in all of his creatures . If I have to pick one thing it would be the sky . Go somewhere where you can see a lot of it . Maybe somewhere high . The sky is awesome . The different colors at different times of the day and the different cloud formations the sun and the moon and the stars . Looking at all these things that God has created how beautiful they all are and totally different every day ! God isn't only in the Bible He's everywhere you just need to have eyes to see Him in His creation . Then look at your own life . See how He has been at work in your life bringing you closer to Him . See how He takes care of you every day . You might think that you look after yourself or maybe your family helps you but guess what ? Every good thing in your life comes from Him and you can have nothing or do nothing or be nothing without Him and His love and mercy in your life . Learn to see Him and then maybe you will learn to hear Him and you will grow closer to Him . Don't give up . God is alive and with you and He isn't going anywhere .
