Here we have the answer to the mystery of the earth. It abides forever because it signifies the Son in whom all things hold together 'and by him all things consist.'. So the unseen God is made visible in his Son, and who was before all things.(Col.1:16-17) God separated the waters below in order to make the visible and the unseen in him as one. "by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven."(Col.1:20) The abstract in ch.1 consequently laid out for us a principle which Jesus Christ signifies. Ministry of Reconciliation is the key to the Fellowship of God with Man.
This solves also the mystery of generations since they are pendant upon the day,"In the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens." Let us recall the preacher, "One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh: but the earth abideth for ever.(Ec.1:4)
"And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man." (v.23)
In the light of the explanation we need examine the role of Adam as the double for the Son and the Church derived from his death and resurrection sanctifies every member and St Paul records the service of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus(1 Co.16:17)and accordingly the Spirit has included their names as well. (1 Co.12:25-27)
"Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh."
We shall discuss only the first part. Jesus explained who were worthy ("He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me."-Matt.10:37-NKJV) Adam as the head allowed nothing else with regards to his body; The book of the Proverbs refers the 'strange' woman as rottenness to his bones (Pr.12:4) we can understand from the case of King Solomon (1 Ki.11:1-3).
25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
"And they shall be one flesh."
