"Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live" This refers to God breathing into the nostrils of Adam. These dry bones became living soul so bone joins to one another. "there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone."(v.7)
But what v.9 refers altogether new! "Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord God; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live./ So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army."(vv.9-10) . Evidently the baptism of the Holy Spirit renders every believer part of this army.
This army we find following the rider on the white horse in the Book of the Revelation. 'And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses". It is thus our battles are fought in the world of the Spirit. Our battle is not with flesh and blood.
Bones do not carry labels but are as one,-the one gospel of God. So what does this verse signify? "Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel."
Ministry of reconciliation by his Son explains 'the whole Israel' is interchangeable with body of Christ. The allegory of two sticks becoming one in the hand refers to Jesus Christ the King of kings, lord of lords. " And David my servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd:" He leading them to the living waters we have this verse," Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely."(Re.22:17)
