Our Baptist church believes in the pre-millennial rapture of the church. In Rev 20:1-3, Satan is bound for a thousand years, and tradition states that Jesus rules on the earth for 1000 years. However, when reading Rev 11:7 says that the east ascends out of the bottomless pit to kill the two witnesses. Don't the two witnesses die during the seven year period prior to the 1000 year reign? So when was he bound and put into the bottomless pit. Did he go twice?

    Hey there , Hello

Ya know , I'm reading here in Rev 11:7 as in the beast comes out of the pit and kills the 2 witnesses. call me frugal but I see it simply as identification purposes, so there can be no mistake as to who John is referring to . as to to who kills them .

The two witnesses are killed during the tribulation, in the middle of to be exact , and the beast isn't released from the pit until after the 1000 years Rev 20:2 , 3

Hopefully you can understand my question as to why the beast was already in the bottomless pit before the 1000 year reign. Everyone that addresses my question agrees that he is only placed there once and that is after the 1000 year reign. So apparently, based on what you are saying, he went into it twice, but Scripture only says once.

    Hey Zapenter,

There are many opinions on this, my understanding is Jesus is coming back to set up the kingdom on earth and I believe scripture supports a literal 1000 years. The events in Revelation skip around in the chapters which if we read straight through seem confusing at times. When Satan is cast down from heaven in Rev. 12 it starts, and in Rev.13 we see the beast rise out of the sea, which the sea can represent the abyss or bottomless pit. The beast was given 42 months not seven years.

We see the bottomless pit in Rev. 9, Rev. 11, Rev. 17, and Rev. 20. This place is the deepest darkest place where God has put the angels who left their first estate, 2 Pet.2:4 and Jude 1:6. This is where the beast will ascend from that is told us in Rev. 11 and 17 and where Satan will be for the 1000 years, Rev. 20.

If we see in Rev. 13 the beast has 42 months and we see in Rev. 11 that the two witnesses are given the same amount of time, 42 months so they are here at the same time. When the beast kills the two witnesses and that gets us to Rev. 19 the second coming of Jesus when heaven was opened, and we see Jesus on the white horse coming and the angel calls and gathers the fowls for the supper of the great God.

After the battle of Armageddon, the beast and the false prophet will be cast into the lake of fire and Satan will be cast into the bottomless pit and the 1000 years will begin, the first and only time Satan is put in the bottomless pit. After the 1000 years in Rev. 20:10, Satan is gone forever.

There is a lot more, and much I have left out this is just a very short kind of outline that I hope helps and does not confuse your study.

    God bless,

    Brother Ronald:

I also believe that somewhere in the future, after the second resurrection, God's kingdom will be here on earth, and the saints will rule over them and judge them, and give to them the inheritance that was given to them, all this is in the prophets.

I do not believe it will only last 1000 years, but for eternity.

I believe the 1000 year reign, is for the firstfruits of the spirit, and they are reigning with Christ NOW, as they are harvested from the earth into the kingdom of God, men (angels, ministering spirits) in glorified bodies, the royal priesthood, and they will return with Christ and sow and reap the harvest of those in the second resurrection.

We all see dimly through a veil now, but we shall see clearly, when we we are harvested.

We should declare what light has been given to us and share that light, and as we become more mature, more light will be given to each of us.

    All will result in:

1 Corinthians 15:28 And when all things SHALL BE subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject to him who put all things under him, that GOD MAY BE ALL IN ALL.

God Bless you! and keep sharing.

Lovely post from you Earl thank you . I don't believe exactly the same things as you but I still appreciate you and your insight .

Psalm 55 : 23 . I also believe that hell is the grave / pit / death / destruction etc . There are dozens upon dozens of references throughout the Bible that indicate this to be true . Honestly , it makes me sad , all these fables . However , God is extremely merciful . It distresses me that some of us are viewed as enemies because of what we believe . I'm a very tolerant person and certainly don't view anyone as my enemy just because they don't believe exactly the same things as I do . When Christ returns we shall all know all things and there won't be any division or need for disputes between any of us . We shall all see clearly and be one , all in all forever . Happy days to come .

    What is the bottomless pit?

    It is the grave.

Who has the keys to death and the grave?

Christ has the keys to the bottomless pit.

Who arose out of the bottomless pit?

Christ arose out of death and the grave.

Who is Satan that is cast into the bottomless (the grave)?

The princes of this world, that die still in deception of the gospel of the kingdom of God

    Who is the beast?

The beast is the forth kingdom on earth, the kingdom of God. ( Daniel 7:23)

    What is the 1000 years?

It's the day of the Lord, one day is as a thousand years, so far it has been 2000 years, and those that have departed during that time have been reigning with Christ, study the parable of the workers in the vineyard ( Matthew 20:1-16).

Revelation 11:7 And when they (the two witnesses, the law and prophets, foretelling of Christ) shall have finished their testimony) the beast (the forth kingdom on earth, the kingdom of God, Luke 16:16) that asscened out of the bottomless pit shall make war with them and shall overcome them and, kill them (they prophesied of Christ's death on the cross).

Revelation is the revealing of Jesus Christ, there is not a seven year tribulation, God's children are caught up to him one at a time.

Revelation is all symbolic of the fulfillment of the kingdom of God.

All the answers are in Mosses and the prophets.

Amos 3:7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealth his secret unto his servants the prophets.

I was raised in a Baptist church, they are as deceived as are all the other churches.

You learn God's word by going into the wilderness ( Mark 1:12)

    God Bless You!

This is a demon that comes out of the bottomless pit. Satan utilizes him to embody the Antichrist who then appears to resurrect; kill the two prophets; and then initiate the worship of the beast who appears to be invincible. The name of the demon is "Apollyon" or "Abaddon" likely the demon that was over the Greek empire; certainly one that has been imprisoned as many have that are let out temporarily during the Tribulation. Thus; those times will indeed be worse than ever has or ever will be as Jesus warned in the Gospels.
