If you're asking do we have to clean up ourselves before we come to the Lord. The answer is No. We can't clean up ourselves. It's Christ who cleanse us. So yes you come to him as you are. Once you receive Christ spirit there os spiritual growth. You are given a new heart. Sanctification comes after salvation.
2 Corinthians 5:17-18 . Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
We can never be accepted by God as we are. We are sinners and live with a sinful nature that permeates all of our being. We can only be accepted by God on the basis of Jesus' death and resurrection and the righteousness He imputes to those who believe the Gospel.
However, God saved us while we were still sinners and enemies to Him and dead in our sins. This was strictly God's workings and not man's. So, anyone is able to be saved, no matter how evil they are or what wickedness they have done. But salvation comes by receiving the grace offered through the work of the Holy Spirit who regenerates us and give us faith to believe in Jesus and the Gospel. Any who believe this way are saved, no matter what they have been like before they believed that Jesus has saved them and that their sins are forgiven because He shed His blood to take away all of our sins.
Those who are sincerely humble and contrite of heart in seeking Him He will never cast out.

Sin because of Satan's tricking Adam and Eve. God being all love His great
Desire is for all to come to Him through Jesus Christ Romans 10:9+10 but
Until a person decides to do that and have a change of Heart they are separated
From God. Answering your question God sees everything and His love and
Forgiveness and long-suffering and He keeps His Word is why he hasn't ended
Things yet because he knows there are others that will believe. On that note
It will end this world when the last person God knows believes, and only He knows
This. But as the song says until then our hearts can go on singing waiting for
The gathering together unto Him in thessalonians. The gathering of the Body
Of Christ the Church of God.
