In the past I have known 3 Bible translaters,(sp), and all 3 say Barnabas pined Hebrews, before that I always thought Paul had wrote Hebrews, Seems to me in every letter Paul wrote, His Name is in all of them that He did write, Im not a learned translater, but we do still have common sense and the Word of God Who IS the Author from cover to cover. Some Day We Will meet Paul and Jesus face to face, but We will have our new bodys and we will know so much more than we know now with our finite thinking, but as it says in Psalms 150:6, Every thing that hath breath, Praise the LORD, Amen.
Dear Bert, The topic of the authorship of Hebrews has been debated and researched repeatedly over the years. I am not sure if we will ever truly know who wrote this portion of Scripture until we get to heaven (and then, will it really matter who wrote it?)
What I'd like to say is that we do not have ALL the writings of Paul or the other disciples that Jesus called and who followed our Lord during His time on earth. So, we do not definitively if Paul ALWAYS included his name in his letters.
I do believe that God did guide the distribution, teaching, and acceptance of the writings that are included in our New Testament. I would love to read ALL of the writings of the apostles and disciples of that first century. I think such writings would reveal overall a great consistency of teaching on doctrine and practice among believers. But, we do not have such writings, so we are to go on what is included in the Scripture. I believe the Scripture holds all that is necessary for us to come to know the Gospel, Jesus, how we are to believe, and how we are to live.
