It would seem to me that the verses in both the seal judgments and trumpet ones in Revelation showing the "incense of the prayers of the saints" indicate a likelihood of prayers being lifted up for those suffering on earth; along with those still going through the horrors of the Tribulation at that time. We should also recall Christ Himself operating as our High Priest, "ever interceding" for us according to Hebrews. The danger here is for us to attempt any communication i.e. necromancy from our side to the other. It is Christ only who is to be worshipped; and this is indicated by the elder or messenger John attempted to worship when seeing the Revelation. All messengers or angels (can be translated either way) in that book as well are at that time; whether angelic or glorified souls (or those raptured) are in a sense ministering spirits if we look at it that way. Other scriptures give us a more indirect look at this concept; as we are said to only "see from a distance" the destruction of the wicked. Surely; once we are out of sinful bodies and the distractions of this life we can see more clearly what is going on in the spiritual dimension (as Moses and Elijah did during the transfiguration for instance). Being in the Spirit will surely be glorious; and we will see His judgments and be aware of Satan and the spiritual forces which are truly at work in the air and the powers and principalities of influence. The heavenly angels and creatures no doubt will be clearly seen for who they are not to mention Christ Himself. Worship and songs of praise will clearly be given by saints; and yet the elders will have thrones in heaven and in that sense exalted above the angels.
