Bible Discussion Thread

    Hello fellow readers

A week or so ago I posted in a discussion about praying for our nation. I suggested selecting a day to do this monthly. I suggested the first of the month.

So tomorrow is the first and anyone can choose to join others this day to pray for their own nation or another

    nation or people group.

    I had suggested 6:00 a.m.

12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. as times to pray, but people can certainly pray anytime, any day for nations of our world. I am not suggesting people pray all three times. I just wanted to accommodate various schedules.

So, feel welcome to pray with me and others tomorrow,

If people want to enter prayer requests specific for their nation I encourage that they use the prayer request section of this site to post these.

Thanks and may God be mighty in our nations in February!

There shouldn't be just one day, we are commanded to be constant in prayer, but even more so we should fast and pray and righteousness is the key to prayer being heard. Read Isaiah 58 it tells you why God stopped hearing Israels' prayers and I'd say he isn't hearing ours because we are doing the same as Israel did. Isaiah58 also tells us how to correct our unrighteous ways and be heard of God. Jame5:16Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

    Dear Charles,

Thanks for your contribution to this discussion. Really, you do not know if God heard our prayers on the first or not. We pray through the lens of faith that God said He answers prayers where two or more agree in prayer.

If this prayer time wasn't something you felt led to do, then don't, but please do not criticize not judge those who do. What isn't of faith is sin. I know my prayers on the first were of faith. It is for God only to judge the motivations and content of our prayers. No believer should discourage people from praying because the prayer situation does not fit one's view of "proper" prayer.

Will someone please review, confirm, or clarify, the following:

    1) The first day of the week is Sunday, making the 7th day--the day of rest--Saturday aka the Sabbath, which we are to remember and keep holy. Further, that from sundown on Friday to sundown on Saturday, we are to rest and do no practical "work". The Lord rested on the 7th day, which in our day, is Saturday. Do you believe and witness that Christians are observing the Sabbath and keeping it Holy? If not, why not?

    2) Regarding the Lord's Prayer, I am of the belief that the Lord would never tempt us. It says so in James. Ergo, we need not pray that He, "Lead us not into temptation" but rather, "Lead us OUT of temptation." Perhaps over 2000 years of bible translation, "out" was mistakenly transcribed as "not". Just a thought. But it is how I recite the Lord's Prayer now. This subject was brought to my attention by the pope, not that I heed anything he might say; but this happens to ring true for me.

    3) The word "catholic" is nowhere to be found in the bible. When we pray, "I believe in the Holy Christian Church", yet Rome prays, "I believe in the Holy Catholic Church," then Rome indeed has changed the Word of God to comply with the doctrine of a mere man. Most of the laws of Judaism are man ordained and are not in the Bible. The Pharisees even chastised Jesus when he and his disciples ate wheat before they, "washed their hands." Dear Lord, the arrogance and nerve.

    4) When I say the Apostles' Creed, I have begun recently to say, "...he descended into Hell; on the third day is rose ANEW from the dead and ascended into Heaven," because indeed Jesus did not die twice and cannot "rise" AGAIN. This may just be semantics on my part since "again" does not necessarily mean twice. Thoughts?

Thank you for this opportunity. This website was suggested to me by David Jeremiah at Turning Point Ministries...after I barraged his pastormail with many questions! They still answer my email..they are good.

God bless America, land that I love

Stand beside her and guide her

Through the night with the light from above

From the mountains to the prairies

To the oceans white with foam

God bless America, my home sweet home

    Hi GiGi.

I believe this site is global so why not we pray for ALL the people of ALL the nations of the world! And do it ALL the time.

And let's not limit ourselves when, where are how we pray, Let's pray in truth and in spirit. A quite silent prayer in secret from the heart is as worthy as one "staged" out in the open.

And let's no leave out God's Nation.

THE CHURCH!! 1 Peter 2:9. But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood,

( AN HOLY NATION,) a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

Again let's pray for the people of all Nations that they repent and come to the Lord!

God will someday be taking "A People" out of the World. before tribulation comes on those who "Dwell" on Earth.

    God bless.

Yes, I concur with you. I was not trying to be contrived and I my meaning was to pray for all nations. Individuals can pray for their own nation as Paul instructed us to pray for those who govern us. Or, as led, we can pray for one's own nation and others.

Of course we pray for the church in every circumstances and for a revival of the hearts of many to come to faith and salvation in Christ.

I do understand that this site is global, so I was

Not singling out any one nation. Some people may be nudged by the Spirit to participate tomorrow and that is good. But we should be prayerful daily for the matters that the Spirit puta on one's heart. I try to go to the prayer request section to prayer for the requests of those who took time to post their prayer needs and let the poster know that someone has prayed for their requests. I encourage others to do so, too.

I suggested the times tomorrow as a loose guide, not as an imposition.

So, thinking the best of each other you and I can serve in prayer as the Spirit leads us to do. For me, it is helpful to choose a specific day to address ongoing prayer needs. And of course I pray daily. But burns God who Answers with His will, power, and wisdom.

I put my trust in Him and not into any formulation.

Amen. I think it's a great idea to keep our Governing nation in prayer, and pray they let God govern their hearts!

When Israel did right by the Lord he gave them rest and the spirit of the lord rested on the leaders! Numbers 11:25-29.

As a nation we've put together great writings on paper and we Identfied ourselves by these writings but we never accomplished what we have in writing. Sort of reminds you of Israel doesn't it? Actually Israel didn't just have the law written on skin, they had the Lord in their midst. But his laws wasn't written on there hearts! And this is the only geographical nation/Country that has been set apart by the Lord.

That ought to humble every other nation! God has raised up nations in the past to do his will and then judge that nation!

    Habakkuk 1:5-6.

    Jeremiah 25:11-12.

God used Assyria and Babylon to chastise Israel and turn the rod on them.

God raises up great kings to do his will!

    Isaiah 45:1.

    Ezekiel 29:18-20.

Pride goeth before destruction and an haulty spirit before a fall.

All these nations fell! Now Let's look at Israel. Ezekiel 16:48-50. Notice verses 49 and 50? You noticed God called sodom Israels sister! When God brought Israel out of Egypt God called them his son. He was a father and a husband to them. But they turned from God so at this point he's telling them they have the same father as Sodom, and we know who that is!

"He's not governing there heart" but there will come a time he will. Jeremiah 31:31-34. Noticed verse 33? He will put his law in their inward parts!

Looking at Israel and the way the Lord raised up nations and later judged them should humble us!

There will come a time when his nation will be taken out of the world and he will deal with all the worlds nations.

    Joel 3:2.

So let's pray the lost people of ALL nations humble themselves and get on a tract they have NEVER been on.

    God bless and goodnight.
