The Gospels Matthew, mark, Luke, John they tell the story of Jesus I'd read the entire NT 1st then the OT but the main thing is to eat so you can grow, read the Bible always and constantly. Genesis is a good book as well so you know the beginning of the creation.
I Hope our Father will direct you to the Truth (which is His Word) and that the Spirit will draw you towards it always.
Everyone will fall into one of these two situations:
* Isaiah 6:9-10 - i.e. They have eyes and ears but are unable to see or here because the Spirit of Truth is not in them. They are essentially satisfied as they are.
OR
* Luke 11:1-13 - i.e. They believe that God is reliable to His Word (that His Word is not vanity) and if they earnestly seek He will give reliable answer.
I recommend following the Luke 11 method. Your success in your search for Truth will be directly related to your faith (i.e. effort) in His Word (Which is to say, pray for Truth and understanding of His Word, and always follow that up by opening up the scriptures and studying them intensively in expectation that He is Reliable to His Word). 'Religious freeloaders' are not rewarded with anything that you will be searching for.
It's not realistic to think that you will have a reasonable grasp of the New Testament without first having a strong fundamental understanding of the Old Testament. That is not to say that you can't start by reading New Testament books, only that the foundation for understanding them much more fully will not be in place until you have a reasonable grasp of the Old Testament.
If you're intent on reading any book (with understanding), it is reasonable to start at the beginning. The Bible fits that expectation pretty well.
Book of John first. Then Romans, which has the "Romans Road" salvation scriptures.
Then the book of Luke, begins when Jesus was born. Matthew=teaching on Joseph's contact by an Angel; and Jesus's Geneology.
A special blessing for you: Malachi 3:16-18
All of the gospels to learn what Jesus is like because we are his followers.
Some of the greatest lessons are on how to spend time in prayer away from distractions. How to praise in song (psalms) like King David did; and to worship our Father.
Ask the Holy Spirit to be your Teacher; to anoint you for reading of the Word.
Just my suggestion but begin with the New Testament starting with Matthew to Revelation. Take your time and sometimes re-read a chapter as sometimes it becomes clearer when you read it the second time.
Matthew 5:3-18, John 1:1-14, John 14:6, Galatians 5:22-23
When I was a new believer, I began reading the gospels, starting with Matthew. Where to begin is an individual choice. I would ask the Lord to give you a hunger and desire for His word and for Him to show you where to start. I think it's different for each individual but I believe the Lord will lead you in the right direction.
