I just try to see this from the words of Jesus. But I know that there are many differing viewpoints on this. I am sure this tread may get many posts. That is good. I want to hear from others. This is a matter that is hard to resolve wit the culture in churches these days. I know we have forgiveness, but I guess I see it like this, if someone murders and confesses and then continues to murder again and again, what should the church do with this? Or how about a homosexual who confesses and continues to engage in homosexual relations. Would we put him in charge of Sunday School? Would we want our pastor to perform a marriage ceremony?
We are soft on divorce and remarriage because it does not offend US as much as these other sinful things I mentioned. But the important things is: "How does God view it?"
That's my point. I don't care to point fingers at anyone. It just causes me to be concerned about how to speak about and deal with this activity in life.
So, I know we have forgiveness. But we because we have forgiveness, I don't think then we are free to redefine what Jesus calls sinful.
Yes it is a difficult verse that should be taken like every other action of disobedience concerning the way we function as a Church. It seems the Lord made an exception here in Matthew 19:9.
I believe When they are Married they lay with each other and that constitute their Marriage, When one commit Adultery they break this constitution. But they may remain Married if chooses to. And I believe in the beginning as it is now they were meant to remain Married under all circumstances under the law of mercy. Same union Christ has with his Church.
If a spouse divorce the other where there's no fornication then perhaps that spouse should remain unmarried.
But say this person has grown up in his/her faith acknowledge their wrong doing after he/her remarries, Does he commit an act of disobedience again and repent and get a divorce? Are is that second marriage even valid. The Lord doesn't go into great detail. Probably because as the scripture say the Pharisees came to test him.
Also so do we factor in lusting with the eyes? Thats Adultery as well.
Matthew 5:27-28. I believe we are held on a higher standard than just the act. This is one I believe the Lord judges individually and only he has the wisdom to do so.
O don't believe in Divorce.
Let's get that out the way first.
I also believe If a unbeliever marries and unfortunately end up in Divorced, turn his life over to Christ then he's a New creature in Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:17-18.
I also believe if a believer is taken in a fault such as divorce and remarried he can be forgiven and restored back to fellowship.
We all started out as unclean vessels and we're cleansed daily.
Some may see it different.
God bless.

would screw up [but not meLOL] knew divorce would occur because people would be tricked by hardening their
hearts on the word. Even in the age of the church of grace God again covered 1 Corinthians 7 starting verse
10 +11 speaking about believers. Then verse 12-16 the change talk about grace if either husband or wife believe
not and one chooses to part from the other or they decide to stay together and are blessed we are called to peace.
Now the mind blower the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband and vice versa and even their children
together were unclean now there sanctified or set apart. So God didn't change in His idea of marriage originally
wanting the two to stay together but look what's again covered in the age of Grace! Paul had to address a lot of
off the wall practices in the churches at that time, which God obviously knew was going to continue to occur due
to mans unbelief. But there again look at whats overlooked By God through Christ Jesus our lord. Unfortunately
Grace is WIDELY ABUSED OR TAKEN FOR GRANTED! My perspective We WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND FULLY
UNTIL FACE TO FACE WHAT WE HAVE IN THIS SPECIFIC TIME IN GODS TIME TABLE!
God bless.
