I understand that the reason we die is that we sinned. My question is then why do animals die when they do not sin?

Good Morning Barbara Due to Adams disobedience to Gods only command in Genesis 3 Eden, he handed over all the

authority was given by God to serpent [it wasn't a literal snake figure of speech for his satans sly deception] that's why

in luke 4:6 the devil tells Jesus all the power and authority was handed to him that was done by Adam. In Romans

8:20-22 that was and is the effect all of creation suffers animals included satan put all of creation in a power struggle or

his confusion. The opposite side when we believe in Romans 10:9+10 all that authority that adam lost we are given back

to us in Ephesians 1:17-21 we again have that power and authority when we claim the name above all names

Jesus Christ. Thank God for what he did for us by Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Godf Bless.

Hello Barbara When Adam went against Gods Word the dominion and power that he had over creation was handed to the adversary or devil Luke 4:6 and that's when he became God of this world and all creation paid for that sin Romans

8:20-22. Even the weather conditions when Hurricanes and floods, drought etc. occur its the adversary affecting remember John 10:9 The thief cometh not [his only purpose] but to steal kill and destroy. Our God is the Author of life!

That's a very good question, Barbara. Maybe you'll get other thoughts expressed here, but I tend to think that even though animals haven't sinned, indeed they cannot sin, they can still be affected by the general corruption that has taken place all over the world. Why would some animals want to kill other animals & humans? I don't believe that in the beginning this was ever the norm. Why does the Earth suffer such horrendous storms, earthquakes & famines? Again, I think that all these have come about because of Satan's presence, both influencing man to sin & the many tragedies we see now. Another thought is, that it's possible that God always intended animals to age & die as they do not bear the Image of God not having the capacity to be ministered & moved by His Holy Spirit ( Ecclesiastes 3:21). But these are just my thoughts - others may have some more useful things to share.

    Chris, good explanation.

My thoughts are that animals were not given the consciousness or soul to know God, to sin, or to be indwelt by the Holy Spirit. As you said, they were not made in the image of God. I think that they were created to age and die as well. But I am not aware of a bible verse that states this.

In Genesis God gave us Dominion and put us in charge over creation; but not humans.

I love animals too. Just like us, they get sick, old or injured and they die. Try to be happy for the time you had with your critters. Don't be afraid to love again. God is Love. It's in our likeness of Him to love others as best we can; even pets.

I really love them critters too!

A short while ago someone posted here something like, " Dogs are the closest things To Angels here on earth!"

Also, a dog may be the only thing that loves you more than it loves itself!

Hopefully, there is also a heaven for our pets somewhere.

    God Bless.

Revelation 5:10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priest: and we shall reign ON EARTH.

    Yes, there will be animals.

Thanks for the great scripture and kind thoughts on this. You brought a big smile to my face picturing how this new earth will eventually look.

Much love to you Brother Earl.
