    Is Man a God
  • Jesse - In Reply - 3 years ago
In Matthew 16:13, Jesus asks a question that is considered to be the center of the gospel. Who is Jesus? This is a question we all have to settle within our own hearts.

In Matthew 16:13, Jesus is not asking His disciples who they say He is. He's asking what the public's opinion was about who He is. He says who do men say that I the Son of man am?

In Matthew 16:14, the disciples give four different answers as to who the public says He is. Today, when the question is asked, we get many different responses about who Jesus is.

But when we get to Matthew 16:15, now it's personal. Now Jesus wants to know who His disciples say He is. The first question is public opinion. Now Jesus asks whom do you (His disciples) say that I am.

Peter gives a perfect response. Peter says "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God." Wow! There are two very important parts to this confession. The first part says "Thou art the Christ," HO CHRISTOS, the Christ. Christ is the translation of the Greek word that is the same as the Hebrew word for Messiah, MESHIACH, and it means the anointing.

So the Jews believed that when Messiah came, He would be the anointing of God in human form. And that's who He is. Peter says "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God."

If you ever look up the phrase (Son of the living God), not from a religious standpoint, but from a Hebrew standpoint, you will find out that is the phrase that is used for God.

This was Peter's response. And please keep in mind that Peter was a Jew. So when Peter said "the Son of the living God," that is a title of God to the Jews. So, what Peter was confessing was you are the Messiah and you are God. Wow, what a Confession!

The importance is that everybody must settle it in their own hearts and minds about who Jesus is. Was He just a great man? Was He just a great teacher? Was He a great healer? Or was He God in the flesh? I'm going with Peter's confession and saying that He was God come in the flesh!

Good thoughts, there, thanks for reminding us that Jesus is the center of our faith and lives.

The Jews could not accept Jesus because e claimed to be God and the monotheism of Judaism cannot accept a "rival" god to who they knew as YHWH. They did not spiritually understand the many references to the Triune God in the Torah. They were spiritually blind, dull of mind, hard of heart, and "plugged their ears" to what the Torah and Jesus revealed. It is interesting that the Shema which is recited by observant Jews, Says, "Hear O Israel, the Lord, the Lord our God is One". I always wondered why God just didn't say, "I am the only God" as the Shema. But I think that saying that He is One is speaking to the future revelation of Son and the Holy Spirit, that there are not three separate gods, but a union of Three Persons that constitutes the One True God.

God is not man or ever will be because never changes . He is eternal the same always .

Jesus is the Son OF God not God that's impossible for any man to be GOD .

Of God yes , came from God born of God . Yes The SON OF GOD . This was Gods own testimony at Jesus baptism.

I am in total agreement with you , there are one or two others on here who would also agree . Many on here feel differently to us , they are kind enough to tolerate us so we must respect them also . I like to try and focus on the things that we have in common , you are not alone so don't feel as if you are . I've learned a lot on this site , stay with us all and we can hopefully edify encourage and enlighten each other in spite of our differences .

No. Father God is not human.

Jesus is all God and became human by being born of Mary. He's all God and all human.

The Holy Spirit is God and is Spirit.

    Mishael,

Thanks. The belief that Jesus is fully human and fully God has been the standard doctrine affirmed through the church since the time of the apostles. The belief that Jesus is not God, only human has always been affirmed as heresy in all ages of the church. I understand that we should not quibble about minor things, but this really is the paramount teaching of Christianity. Trinitarian belief is at the heading of all of the creeds of the church.

Scripture says that Jesus affirms that He is the I Am of the Old Testament. This name means that He is eternal. From eternity "past", "present", and "future" exists. Only God has an existence like that. I parenthesize the time terms because God exist outside of Time and Space. W just have a hard time imagining tat concept without thinking about time.

    Kent,

Only Jesus preexisted as God before his human birth. He was before all time and will always be the one and only "Begotten" Son of god, because He was begotten, not made. We are made in God's image. Jesus is the exact image of God because, He is a member of the Triune God. The Triune God is exclusive to any additions. We may have to agree to disagree on this topic.

    Hi all

Is it possible and can we call one who has created all life forms for a man or woman? Is He not Only God and said I Am. God bless in Jesus Holy Name
  • Kent Bass - In Reply - 3 years ago
The only man that was God as well is Jesus. But Jesus told us we actually had a chance to be a God if we lived as he did, without sin, perfectly. No one did this, so no one is God but God( In three persons father, son, holy spirit)
  • GiGi - In Reply - 3 years ago
Kent, there is no teaching by the apostles that states that any believer becomes a God. That is an erroneous statement, I believe. There is and always will be only one True God. He will not share his glory with another. We become sons of God, adopted into Him by faith in His one and only begotten Son. Jesus is the only Son of God who shares the essence of God. We will never possess His essence. We are privileged to share in the fellowship of the Trinity, but we do no become gods. That is the ancient lie and hook Satan used in Eden to tempt Adam and Eve. He, himself birthed sin in himself when he hoped to ascend to the throne of God and become equal to Him, thus existing as another god beside the one true God.

I do not mean to be harsh. But this is an age old false teaching. I pray that you will gain understanding on this idea through the Holy Spirit and the Word.

Sister GiGi, here are more scriptures that say we are going to be gods. In the Hebrew text the words were never capitalised.

Exodus 7:1 And the Lord SAID unto Moses, See, I HAVE MADE thee a god unto Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet.

Joshua 22:22 The LORD God of gods, the LORD God of gods ......

Psalms 82:6 I have SAID ye are gods, children of the most high.

Psalms 86:8 Among the gods there is none like unto thee, O Lord, neither are there any works like unto thy works.

Psalms 95:3 For the Lord is a great God, and a great king above all gods.

Psalms 97:7 Confounded be all they that serve graven images, that boost themselves of idols, worship him, all ye gods.

Psalms 97:9 For thou, Lord, art high above the earth: thou art exalted far above all gods.

Psalms 136:2 Give thanks unto the God of gods: for his mercy endureth forever.

Psalms 138:1 I will praise the with my whole heart; before the gods will I sing praise unto thee.

Zechariah 12:7 The Lord also shall save the tents of Judah first, that the glory of the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem do not magnify themselves against Judah.

Zechariah 12:8 In that day shall the Lord defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the HOUSE OF DAVID shall be as God, as (the image of) the angel of the lord (that is) before them (the gods).

I do not concur with your interpretation, nor does the church through the ages.
  • David - In Reply - 3 years ago
Earl In a lot of your scripture I see contrast being made is between the True God and the idolatrous gods being worshipped

and if my understanding is correct in exodus Moses being called out at the time to be Gods leader was Going to display his word and works through Moses defying Pharoah power and authority to deliver his called out people. In psalms 103:7 He made His ways known unto moses his acts unto the children of Israel. There are other men of God that did the miraculous but that doesn't make them gods.
  • Earl Bowman - In Reply - 3 years ago
Brother David, the verses that I referenced, such as God of gods, Is God the God of man made gods, or of gods that bear his image.

The words says Christ IS CREATING you in his image, you have no problem believing Christ, who is created in his Father's image, is god, why can't you believe you also will be god.

The saints are going to judge the earth, with Christ, the word says all judgement was given to the Son, you are going to be a Son, like Christ, a body holding the FULLNESS OF GOD; this is how you will be able to judge the world with Christ.
  • GiGi again - In Reply - 3 years ago
Umm, Jesus' Divine nature was never created. He became incarnate. But that is a different matter. We grow as Christians to imitate His character, godly (not gods) and eager to do the will of the Father.
  • GiGi - In Reply - 3 years ago
    Hello again,

I do not believe Scripture says we will be ever possess the fullness of God. The Father fills the universe. he is totally unbounded. Jesus has a body now in heaven and in Him the fullness of the Godhead dwells. I don't think this means that all of God is not necessarily contained in one place. When God was present in the pillar of cloud and light in the wilderness with the Israelites, doesn't mean that He wasn't also everywhere present. Or, when His Presence was in the tabernacle on the Holy of Holies on the ark of the covenant doesn't mean that He was not also everywhere present.

My post was lost. Hi Gigi, I will post scriptures to explain and back verify my post. I am not looking to fight nor say you are without understanding or that your post is somehow under Satan.

Jesus replied, "Is it not written in your Law: 'I have said you are gods'? 35If he called them gods to whom the word of God came-and the Scripture cannot be broken

I have said, 'You are gods; you are all sons of the Most High.' 7But like mortals you will die, and like rulers you will fall."

The reason why there is only three God person, the father, the son, the holy spirit is because they are the only perfect ones. If there were someone else who would've lived a perfect life just like Jesus, they would've been a begotten son just like he was.

In the scriptures when God says he won't give this glory to anyone else...doesn't mean that the son, and the holy spirit don't exist, but rather that they are 1 and considered one. If someone had done what Jesus did, there would have been two begotten instead of 1, but no there isn't. God bless!
  • Kent Bass - In Reply - 3 years ago
Hi Gigi, Jesus said it himself. It is written in his word n black and white in the gospels. There is no getting around it. John 10:34

Jesus replied, "Is it not written in your Law: 'I have said you are gods'? 35If he called them gods to whom the word of God came-and the Scripture cannot be broken

But we know that no one lived the perfect life, so only the father, son, and holy spirit are God, but we can't say we didn't have the chance.
  • David - In Reply - 3 years ago
Hello Kent Interesting view point my concern is before adam and eve were deceived they were perfect did that make them Gods or Equal to God at that time. ahust food for thought
  • Kent Bass - In Reply - 3 years ago
Hi David, don't forget that Adam and Eve were created, which means that God foreknew that they would sin because they were not begotten from the beginning. However they were created in a more perfect environment and state. But there shall be no one saying, "Why didn't i get a chance to be like god" . We all will know we are not begotten like Jesus because none of us could live without sin.
  • David - In Reply - 3 years ago
Hi Kent moving on some how text of subject matter changed. God Bless
  • Gigi - In Reply - 3 years ago
    Kent ,

Thanks for your reply. Mankind and spiritual beings do not have the essence of what God. at makes God. Perfect holiness is one aspect of His essence. but not His total essence that distinguishes Him as wholly apart from His created beings. The angels that did not rebel are perfect, in that they have never sinned, but they are not gods. The Scripture does speak of them as sons of god. Redeemed mankind will hold a place before God that may be higher in rank than the angels, but there will be no other created being that can acquire God's essence that makes Him immensely unique and His eternal perfection from everlasting to everlasting. I cannot concur that God will make any one He has created a god, that would be worthy of praise or worship.
  • Kent Bass - In Reply - 3 years ago
Gigi, God is not making new God's. There are 3 who are perfect all in one. But why is there only 3? Because they are the only sinless, perfect beings. Jesus and Yah made it clear that we could become gods. Why did they say this? They didn't say this because we would, they already knew that we would fail otherwise we would have been with them from the beginning. Because If we had been perfect, we ALSO would have been begotten of the father from the beginning and there would have been more than one begotten son. In the garden Adam and Eve did not fall because they wanted to be like God. That is a good thing. They fell because they sinned, disobeyed Yah, he told them not to touch or eat from the tree, like we all sinned and fell. All scripture is correct. There are only 3 person in the Godhead and they all are one. But we can not overlook that they said we had the opportunity, and thus is why we are mortals and God is God.

Again, if there were more than one person who lived a perfect life they too would have been begotten of the father from the beginning and would have been able to do all the things Jesus did including stepping into time in a later date and being born. But there is only 1 begotten son, the father, and the spirit. All sinless, everyone else are sinners

    God bless you Gigi.
  • GiGi again - In Reply - 3 years ago
The holy angels in heaven are sinless and not divine. Jesus is not begotten or God because He is sinless, He is God because He has always possessed the essential divine essence and eternal tri-unity that sets Jesus, the Father, and the Holy Spirit apart as solely God alone.
  • Mishael - In Reply - 3 years ago
Jesus came to earth to be born a legitimate human. THE SON OF MAN.

It's Important because Satan possessed Adams mandate; but he didn't have a human body because he (satan) was a created being.

Lesson today, satan NOR demons have authority to possess a human. They can__possess a willing human. And the illegal spirit can invite other spirits inside too.

Through a plan that spanned from Genesis to Bethlehem, Jesus was born as a human baby. He had set aside His deity and powers to accomplish this: a legal human baby (the Son of Man) and also the Son of God. The Messiah, who

Went to the Cross to permanently take back everything Satan STOLE from Adam.

Through Jesus we can receive Salvation and work the works that Jesus did. If we're available, Jesus is able. Oh wow, because we can be filled with the Holy Spirit. Third person of the Godhead.

It just thrills me to pieces to set my feet on the floor, mornings. Every day is exciting opportunity to share Jesus with most folks I run into. It's like having a wallet full of gift cards to give away free.

    Hallelujah!!

Hello, Mishael again. Can you also explain your statement that Jesus set aside His Deity in His incarnation. My understanding is that He remained fully God as well as fully man in His incarnation, but emptied Himself of is heavenly Glory that had shared with the Father in eternity past. I appreciate hearing more of from you on this. Thank you.
  • Life After Earth - In Reply - 3 years ago
    The Godhead has always existed.

Adam was FORMED. Eve came from out of Adam.

Lucifer was a created archangel in charge of praise and worship. He coveted the worship for himself. Evil was discovered in him. He had been 4th in line to the throne. Gabriel was 5th.

Michael the Archangel was in charge of throwing (now demoted) Satan to earth.

After Satan, Demons have hierarchies too, as explained in Ephesians 6. Satan Lost the DEED to earth at the CROSS. He has demons and wicked human beings who serve him. They're unbelievers despite everything. Antichrist, False Prophet, First and 2nd Beast, think they can still win back the earth. There will be a final battle and the Saints of God will ride along Jesus. yay!!!

The Crucial Truth is, Jesus took back Dominion, Authority. The position of High Priest and more. He is Lord of all !!!

We, his followers have the dominion God said in Genesis, we have the Authority Jesus took back from Satan right after he stomped on satans head! We are His followers! We are the Bride of Christ. We are kings and priests. We'll give direction to angels :D

The best part is there will be no sickness, no arthritis, no dark places, the Tree of Life to sit under, cmon let's get happy now! I know we all have momentary anxiety about new places, lots of people we haven't met yet, but I believe the Lord has already thought of that. We've got a wedding feast to go to.

Some day we will see earth the way God intended. As Eden.
  • GiGi again - In Reply - 3 years ago
    Thanks for explaining more.
  • Before the incarnation of Jesus - In Reply - 3 years ago
I explained it clumsy. See if this is clearer.

Though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. ( Philippians 2:6-7)

So in verse six, you have the preexistent Christ before incarnation in the form of God, which the next phrase defines as equality with God. Then in verse seven, you have him taking the form of a servant in the likeness of men. I think just as the term "form of God" in verse 6 does not mean "less than God" - because of the phrase "equality with God" - in the same way, the phrases "form of a servant" and "likeness of man" in verse 7 does not mean "less than human," but rather "equal with all humans." That is a real human nature.

One of the reasons I don't believe that is what Paul meant is because he says the very opposite in Colossians 2:9. He said, "For in him", in Christ - the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily." You even wonder whether he used the word fullness there partially to say, "He didn't empty himself of that. He's not empty. He's not only not empty - he's full. He's full of deity." The whole fullness of deity dwells bodily in Jesus. So I don't think he emptied himself of anything that constitutes the essence of deity.

[Another thing, Jesus did no miracles until after He was anointed in Luke 4:18, Isaiah 61:1]
  • Rick - In Reply - 3 years ago
Hi Before the incarnation of Jesus My understanding the context of Luke 4:18 is he was in Nazareth of Galilee where he had been raised own home town and keep something in mind these people new Him and the family. When he opened the scrolls and found the place where it was written, [some thing to consider right here is that the scrolls he was reading from had no chapters headings nothing just straight manuscript form] verse 18+19 an interesting detail about that is he closed the book right there and said verse 21 this day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears I.e. I'm the anointed one! This was him anouncing in His own home town the beginning of his Ministry.

Also when he read from from Isaiah 61:1 and not all of two he stopped in the middle because the vengeance of our God does not happen until the Apocalypse when the enemies butt is kicked and all unbelief is wiped out.

From verse 22 to 27 He's reproving them for their unbelief then it gets hot and they get angry to the point they want to kill him and he walks through them. That's why anytime he went back into his own country he could not do many mighty works because of their unbelief Mathew 13:54-58. You have got to believe to receive anything from God. Like I said this is my understanding.
  • GiGi again - In Reply - 3 years ago
    Hi Mishael,

I am trying to understand your post better concerning Satan and Adam's mandate. My understanding is tat both Adam and Satan are created beings, but one is created a human being ,and Satan a spiritual being (a cherub). Please explain tis one part a bit more for me. I appreciate it.
  • Mishael - In Reply - 3 years ago
We need Chris here. Adam was FORMED from the dust. Adams name, means RED. (There's our first color mention). God sculpted him.

**In Genesis I circled all the words: created, formed, made. I'm sure the Hebrew interpretation gives more light. God created DNA and Atoms. They're still studying that. All is not discovered yet. I'm sure they're cloning people; trying to bring a copy back from the dead. It's Creepy! Robot people! I hate SIRI. She gets it wrong half the time.

I have suspected that maybe at the Tower of Babel, when the Godhead was discussing the problem together and decided to change languages. People separated and settled in other areas based on language. Maybe the skin colors changed; so if people saw a certain color, they did or did not know that language? I did a whole study on this color thing a year ago. What was notable is that people from Africa, Middle East, all over actually; immigrated by boats, to South and North America and Europe, Islands. It was said some Egyptians were dark skinned due to sun exposure. I don't believe that theory.

I dont believe in UFO's. Clearly from archaeology and other sciences, before Genesis; there were sort of human looking people on earth. They've found bones, dinosaur bones, etc. they were male, female; found infant bones, cave drawings. Scientists have all kind of THEORIES.

I used to tell people that we are all going to get the answers we seek, in Heaven. I doubt seriously all angels in heaven look alike, don't you?

I'm thinking in heaven there's going to be a Genesis 101 class. :/

And now CRT. I'm against it just because the Bible doesn't stress it. God wants believers not to intermarry with UN-believers. Period.

I'm happy God likes colors, shapes, feathers, no feathers, tails, no tails, hooves or chicken feet and MORE. Like every color mixture under the Sun

    Good Morning Mishael,

Good post. I think that Adam an d Eve's DNA and was unflawed. This DNA and had no mutations. This DNA did possess the genes to express variety in skin color, eye color, hair texture, etc. (Things we associate wit "race", although I believe we are all one race, with some distinct genetic variations in certain groups). I agree that the confusion of languages at Babel prompted people to group together according to language, and then these group migrated together to all parts of the earth. At the time of Babel the earth masses (continents) may have been more closely connected than they are now and began to drift apart in the time of Peleg, which says that the earth was divided during is lifetime.

When people began to live in language groups and interbred within these groups, certain genetic characteristics began to emerge as dominant genes. This most likely was how groups began to arise wit lighter or darker skin color, etc. Blue eyes are said to have emerged from a mutation in a man in the Caucasus mountain area. These people from the Caucasus area populated much of Europe and the blue eye mutation continued to be expressed in certain groups, as they continued to migrate across Europe. Green eye color (mine) is the rarest of color. Grey and amber eyes are also rarer than blue. Brown is the overwhelming dominant eye color in humans.

I have not done any DNA testing personally. China processes those tests and is collecting DNA from across the world. China, so, I do not want China to have my DNA information. I believe that China is doing tis in order to create deadly viruses that target certain DNA groups. Evil, evil, evil!

I do believe all kinds of cloning is going on of both humans, and animals, present day and extinct(think Jurassic Park). This is being done in clandestine ways. They may be even manipulating DNA to make hybrids. Evil, evil, evil!

CRT is meant to divide and people along racial lines pit one race against another, fostering hate.

Hi Mishael I believe whatever life form was on earth before God formed Adam and eve was between Genesis 1:1 and 1:3 that is why in genesis 1:28 to replenish the earth, whatever happened between genesis 1:2 had to be catastrophic

and absolutely destructive in purpose. I don't believe it was of God.

    Kent,

I think we agree that there is only one triune God. But Jesus, is athe Only "Begotten" Son of God, not because He lived a perfect life, but because He has always been The Only "begotten" Son from eternity to eternity, one in Being with the Father and the Son. Created beings can never be "begotten" by God. We are adopted as sons of God. There is a difference in my opinion.
  • Kent Bass - In Reply - 3 years ago
Gigi, If you are "begotten" means that you are without sin, perfect, faultless, eternal. You are right we can not be created and begotten at the same time. However if you lived a perfect life as Jesus DID you are begotten. A sinner CAN NOT live a perfect life. It's impossible. Jesus was the only one to do that because he was begotten. If there were someone else who did that, they would have had to be begotten as well, thus without sin, perfect, faultless, eternal with God before all creation.

Yahweh and Jesus said it themselves that no one was found to be worthy. But it is in the law that, 'I have said you are gods, but shall die like mortals you will die. Both in the Psalms and in the gospels. No one will be able to say they didn't have a chance.

That is why there are only 3 eternal beings. I won't repeat this again as knowing this info won't save nor send you to hell. God Bless you.
