"And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us." God must be not one, they are as many as grass everywhere in the Eden.

    Lamech,

"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is ONE LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might."Deu 6:4-5

The Hebrew word for ONE (echd) is the same word in this verse...

"Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be ONE flesh." Gen 2:24

So when God said, "Behold, the man is become as one of us," He was referring the plurality of The Trinity: God The Father, God The Son and God The Holy Spirit.

In The Bible there are TWO "In the beginning..." verses.

"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." Gen 1:1

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."Joh 1:1

The Word was in the beginning.

    The Word was WITH God.

    The Word WAS God.

This is a way of saying that The Word (The Son) was involved with the creation with God (The Father). If you continue to read John 1, you will see that "The Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." This was Jesus!

The teaching about The Trinity is that God is ONE BEING comprised of three PERSONS: The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. Each of the Persons are fully God, but distinct Persons.

    Hope this helps.

Oh! surely, you can understand the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit can't you?

I have issue with the Holy Spirit being a person, or part of the man made trinity. Specifically, the Holy Spirit is "poured out", which doesn't describe a person. The Spirit is not a person that can be poured out. It's a Spirit and blessing from God.

Isaiah 44:3 "I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants."

The outpouring of the Spirit is a completed prophecy that ushered in the church age and the New Covenant in which all believers are given the Holy Spirit. Fact is the Holy Spirit has already come to us in salvation, and doesn't leave.

"But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart TO LIE TO THE HOLY GHOST, and to keep back part of the price of the land? Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? THOU HAST NOT LIED UNTO MEN, BUT UNTO GOD." Act 5:3-4

If God is not, "one being but three distinct persons (Trinity)", as you claim, than scripture must be wrong. Than as Paul states "God forbid". In John 14:26 why then did Jesus call the Comforter (Holy Ghost) "he" as in reference to a person as opposed to "it" as you would describe him, or in John 16:7 "but if I depart, I will send "him" unto you," another reference to the Holy Ghost, as a person. 16:13 "Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come."

Matthew 12:31 "Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men."

These are but a few scriptures to support that the Holy Ghost is a distinct part of the Trinity of God.

As per your claim "The Spirit is not a person" it would be nice to see some scripture to support your view.

    Luke 12:12,

1 John 5:7 "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one." 1 John 5:8 "And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one." John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." John 1:14 "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." John 14:26 "But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you."

John 16:7-16 "Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you."

    Romans 8:34

Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the RIGHT HAND OF GOD, who also maketh intercession for us.

    Romans 8:27

And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

Folks, this is the Godhead. Jesus did not let Mary Magdalene touch him, because he had not yet ascended to heaven to assume the position of High Priest.

He is in heaven where the 2 scriptures say what He is doing. When this age closes, the Father will tell the Bridegroom to go get His Bride.

The Holy Spirit is on earth now performing His ministry. Jesus went to the Cross to give believers the Holy Spirit who indwells each believer with the spirit of Christ.

He comforts, teaches, baptizes, SPEAKS, strives with sinners, creates, renews, convicts, anoints, guides, empowers, sanctifies, gives gifts, illuminates, reveals, truth of God, and much more.

After the catching up of the Church, His ministry will be diminished.

I would say I have a close relationship with Him. I pray, talk with, worship Jesus, read huge chunks of the Bible daily, sit still until He teaches me what I just read, He sharpens my spiritual discernment, corrects me often. I cannot express the inner JOY it is to covet being in His presence! He speaks to me at home, in the car, taking a walk. He gives words of knowledge and words of wisdom.

why?? Because He knows I am smitten with Jesus, and the Father that Jesus wants us to know. I'm going to do or say whatever he tells me.

My most favorite time is in silence, listening intently for Him. I sing-He sings. One time he sang, "I walk the Line" by Johnny Cash!

Get to know Him! He's a real Person who happens to be invisible to our eyes; but visible in the spirit; to hearts and to our spirit inside, ears. Be as close as you desire. Read 10 virgins story. The OIL is the Holy Spirits JOY.

Not you. There are millions of Christians that believe the 3 are persons, and you can tell them their wrong.
  • Charles R Peek - In Reply on Genesis 3 - 3 years ago
    The majority is always wrong.

The holy spirit descended on Jesus as a dove in His baptism. We receive this same spirit when we are baptized into Christ. The holy spirit. The comforter! The paraclete!

Who said the Holy Spirit is a person and what exactly do you mean by 'person'? The Bible doesn't say that. God the Father is also a spirit. John 4:24
