what does the bible say about suicide

Thou shalt not kill includes yourself.

7 people in the bible committed suicide but I would believe its a sin because, in the 10 commandments, it states thou should not murder I believe if a person was to kill their self they will not be forgiven because they killed their self and won't be able to repent of the sin and with that, they would go straight to hell.

Arlene, suicide is forgivable. However it's God's choice. There is only ONE unforgivable sin even murder is not it. God is the Judge. We don't know the reason someone commits suicide. We must not judge others actions that's God's department.

'There is only ONE unforgivable sin even murder is not it." Can you enlighten us on what that one unforgivable sin is? Thanks

There is only one unforgiveable sin. That sin is the sin of unbelief or not believing in Jesus Christ as one's Savior and believing that Jesus died, was buried, shed His precious blood and rose from the dead so a person can receive eternal life in Heaven.
In I Corinthians 15:1-4 Paul does an excellent job in explaining the gospel of salvation. In the Book of John the importance of believing in Jesus for one's salvation is very much emphasized. That is the only unforgiveable sin.....not being saved. The good news is that a person can turn to Jesus and believe upon Jesus at any time while one is alive. It is when the unsaved dies, then there is a problem. God loves us so much.

ccarter, I see many good descriptions for your question already. When we who are still in the flesh are brought up before the anti-Christ at the 6th trump we are not to speak but let the Holy Spirit speak through us. To refuse the Holy Spirit is blasphemy and that is unforgivable, unpardonable. To speak yourself is to tell the Holy Spirit you can do a better job than He can. You place yourself ABOVE God & this is punishable by causing your soul to perish. However this also must be judgement by God as to your second death or not. God is still on the throne and in control of all he created. NEVER feel that you are smarter than our Father.

    Matthew 12:31-32,

"Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come."

Hello, blasphemy against the holy spirit is unforgivable: Link - Also, one must question if someone who commits suicide is truly a Christian following Christ who loves Jesus? Because suicide would be like slapping Jesus in the face: JOHN 14:15

My nephew committed suicide several years ago. He was an albino, he struggled with why God made him that way. Kids teased him and when he got to college the situation did not end. Kids did not want to touch him, as if it was going to "get on them." The family kept him in church ALOT, loved him immensely. We did not know just how depressed he was. Apparently, he did not want to live this life as "different." It breaks my heart all over again, just writing this. He kept his feelings to himself. We just didn't know it was this bad for him. I guess he thought he was ending the hurt.

ccarter, Sorry for your loss but God has special treatments for mental & disabled children of God. They are not held accountable for things that they can't control. Your nephew had many problems including mental. We don't really know what was on his mind when he took his life. He may even have asked God to forgive him before he died. God does know the WHOLE story and He will deal with it according to His law. Your nephew is now in Paradise and suffers no more about his condition. God is fully in control so be happy your nephew is in the GREATEST care facility ever. God bless you.

That is a very sad story. God is a fair judge and knows our hearts.
