Its easy to see how well all the verses harmonize together. Mark 16:16, He who believes and is baptized shall be saved... Acts 2:38 And Peter said unto them repent and be baptized everyoneof you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins..... Romans 6:1-6 says we are "Buried with him by baptism into death." But then you get to verses like Eph. 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith... That is excatly right. Faith leads us to repentance. We confess Christ because of our faith. Romans 10:9 Faith makes us do all these things. We are buried with him in baptism and raised THROUGH FAITH. Col 2:12
To Ock:...that is a very BRILLIANT question... The AUTHORITY to SENT someone to PREACH the GOSPEL is in this wise:...from "GOD" who sent Jesus Christ ( John 17:8) with the "Spirit of the Lord" who anointed him to PREACH the GOSPEL to the poor( Luke 4:18-21)...THEN...from "our Lord Jesus Christ" who sent his disciples to PREACH the GOSPEL to "every creature" ( Mark 16:15)...THEN...from "apostles" who were commanded by our Lord Jesus Christ to teach "all nations" to observe ALL THINGS whatsoever he (Jesus) have commanded them (apostles) ( Matthew 28:19-20)...THEN...if YOU "heard the PREACHING of the GOSPEL" from "ANY CREATURE in ANY NATION" and "you believed it" and "you were baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost"...THEN...YOU are also being SENT to PREACH the GOSPEL...and has the authority to SENT those "who believed and were baptized" to PREACH the GOSPEL to every creature in all nations...and that is Romans 10:15 all about...
Romans 10:15.....And how can people preach UNLESS THEY ARE SENT? [ who were sent and by whom and with what authority?] "SENT", as used in the Greek language of which the book of Romans was written, is apostello. [apostle] "Peace be with you. As the Father has SENT me, even so I SEND you."That authority was delegated to the Apostles ALONE by Jesus Christ. Someone please show where where the Bible gives authority to anyone other that Apostles or their designee 9VIA THE LAYING ON OF HANDS) TO PREACH?
confessing that Jesus is lord in this dispensation entails more than just saying it with your mouth. The confession here must be born out of a strong belief from the heart.
Here is a verse which teaches that twofold evidence of salvation. First, when God saves a person, they believe in their hearts, which is really in their spirit essence. They receive their resurrected souls at the moment of salvation. ( Ezek 36:26 KJV) A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. Secondly, a person who truly believes in their heart, will be unable to keep it to themselves and will become a verbal witness and tell others about the Lord. Jeremiah wanted to stop bringing the word of God to Judah but he could not because it was as a fire in his heart. ( Jer 20:9 KJV) Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay. The mouth confesses what the regenerated heart has believed.
(This is my response to Ciscokid's comment dated 8/14/2013 at 12:12am on Romans Chapter 10):
Whatever kind of letter it was or to whoever it was addressed that question has no substance in knowing the process of salvation. It was clearly stated in Romans 10:13 that, "WHOEVER shall CALL upon the NAME of the Lord shall be SAVED".. While Romans 10:14-17 stated the process of salvation backward before you can call the name of the Lord and be saved and that is to "believe what you've heard from a preacher who was sent to preach the gospel of peace by hearing the word of God so that faith shall come to you. (Simple).
(This is my respond to Wilma's Matthew Chapter 5 comment on 9/10/2013, 10:50pm):
It's true that he came not to destroy the LAW but to fulfill it. In fact, it is also written in Romans 10:4 that Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
This is my respond to GLENN's Romans Chapter 10 comment about verse 10 on 9/09/2013, 9:26am: The significance of confessing audibly (with one's mouth) unto salvation is that, your faith that is in your heart should be revealed by confessing with your mouth the Lord Jesus. Prayers should be in the way as it's written in Matthew 6:5-6.
What is the signifigance of confessing audibly (with one's mouth) unto salvation as opposed to saying it in one's head? Might this imply that prayers should also be audible in order to be efficacious?
Don't stop at that one verse. The explanation is given in the next verse... Romans 10:10...For with the heart manbelieveth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. And then 10:13...for whosoever shall upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Verse 23 "Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever."
I would have to ***ume the word of God, also, means every verse in the Bible pertaining to born again salvation. All these verses would have to agree with one another, because ALL scripture is inspired of God. Therefore, ALL scripture DOES agree with one another. In other words John 3:5, Romans 10:9-10 Acts 2:38, and the rest, MUST ALL give us the same STANDARD information, pertaining to salvation or the born again experience. Unfortunately, mainstream Christianity "VERSION" of salvation is drastically different---from the version found in Acts 2:38.
scriptural reasoning--SCREAMS--THAT ALL INFORMATION PERTAINING TO SALVATION MUST absolutely be THE SAME.--IN ORDER THERE IS NO confusion>
Bobby's said about Romans Chapter 10 comment on 7/13/2013, 8:51pm..." Romans 10 is powerful! Especially Romans 10:9@10. It actually instructs a sinner how to be saved."
This is my answer to Bobby's comment.
Bobby--if you will notice--Romans is a letter to the church at Rome--these folks were ALREADY saved. Paul was addressing SAVED folks. Bobby--why not go BACK in the scriptures where the church was started--where folks ACTUALLY received INSTRUCTIONS how to be saved. The book of Acts is scripturally where the New Testament church started. NOW compare the instructions Peter gave those men in Acts 2 to those so called "instructions" in Romans 10:9-10.
IF Romans is actually "INSTRUCTIONS" that lead to salvation--then why is there no mention IN ROMANS of REPENTANCE, baptism in Jesus name, and receiving the Holy Ghost. These instructions were in Acts 2. You mentions Eph 2:8-10--also. Again, WHY are these "instructions" TO OBTAIN salvation SOOOoooo much different from one another???
The mainstream Christian world is TOTALLY AFRAID of Acts 2:38???--BECAUSE it ****s holes in the false doctrine of "believe in your heart and confess with your mouth". Romans 10 and Eph 2---are EPISTLES--HELLO EPISTLES --LETTERS to CHURCHS OF Rome and Ephesians ----folks who were ALREADY SAVED. These ARE not INSTRUCTIONS HOW TO BE SAVED>
It's amazing that so many "Christian" believers have this salvation thing all wrong. THEY say, all you have to do is a speak words and you'll be saved. That is most EGOTISCIAL, especially when the scriptures DO NOT concur with that type of thinking.
Romans 10 is powerful! Especially Romans 10:9@10. It actually instructs a sinner how to be saved. Why not use this scripture along with Ephesians 2: 8-10. The Word is powerful. Please explain to me why these scriptures should not be used when leading one into salvation.
Abraham Believed God...that is faith. When we by Faith Take God at His Word..we are giving the Glory to God. He tells us We walk by faith, not by sight in 2 Corinthians 5:7KJV. He did not falter, He did not stumble upon the fact that God the Father Told Abraham the Promise ( Genesis 12:1-3KJV) and Abraham merely Obeyed. see also Romans 10:17KJV...Faith comes by hearing God's Word, not man's. If we all could be like Abraham in our own lives...Walking by Faith, by newness of life.
@ Reggie,
Comments on Hebrews 7:8. You say: The only way to pay tithes today is to witness that Jesus lives... Our life then becomes a living epistle, in honoring our Great High Priest.
While I like very much the idea of honoring our God by our lives, as living epistles, I dont agree with your idea of not paying tithe. Heres why: The tithes and offerings principle/law was established by God way before Sinai. Remember Abraham paying tithe to Melchisedec ( Genesis 14)? The tithes were supposed to take care of the men of God, the poor and the orphans. The tenth belonged to God before the cross, and is His today. The same Apostle Paul says: The labourer is worthy of his reward ( 1Timothy 5:18), and Even so hath THE LORD ORDAINED that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel ( 1 Corinthians 9:14). You dont suppose the Gospel Workers should be paid of government subsidies?! Your reference to Romans 10:4 doesnt apply. Heres what bro. Malachi says: Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee?: In tithes and offerings ( Malachi 3:8).
But the best argument of paying tithes and offerings is made by Jesus in Matthew 25:40, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto Me. And you know what will happen to those who dont God bless.
Do I lie if I say Romans 1 is an Epistle, a letter to the church at Rome? Why then does the Christian world--DIRECT-sinners to Romans 10:9-10 for the purpose of accepting Christ as their Savior??? All of Romans, the complete book are letters, Epistles to SAVED FOLKS. Could some one explain--why this has been done for hundreds of years???? I would love to hear a SCRIPTURAL answer.
It's unwise to point sinners to Romans 10:9-10--the Epistles are letters to saved Saints. I realize this has been done for many years, never the less, it makes no sense. Why would anyone assume that an Epistle, a letter to the (CHURCH) Saints at Rome, be considered instructions on how to be saved?
Timothy Wayne George on Revelation 22 - 11 years ago
Dear Jim, read Ezekiel 28:13,14 and that will give you the light on this subject matter. Jesus is the Bright and Morning Star. We must be careful not to add or subtract from the Word of God. Accept it by faith. Faith comes by hearing the Word of God. ( Romans 10:17)
May the Lord bless you richly.
Dan...these scriptures should answer your question. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Are you saved NOW in the present tense or at the 2nd Coming of Christ Jesus? And if you are saved NOW in the present tense, can you lose your salvation?
If Jesus is God, so who resurrected Jesus? Jesus is not God, whose name is Jehovah; but he is the Son of God. Jehovah resurrected Jesus from the dead. Romans 10:9.
Acts 2:38, being Baptized is not part of your Salvation; it shows that you are saved, read Romans 10:9-13, John 3:16. If you notice Jesus did not Baptized anyone, John Baptized him for an example for us, it shows the Death, Burial and Resurrection; the only way you can be saved is through Blood Of Jesus Christ.
