"LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me." Written for 2 Sam 15:12 "And the conspiracy was strong; for the people increased continually with Absalom;" The Holy Spirit guided David to put the Psalms in the order best for instructing what is the course in life we take in Christ, and what we are set to encounter in a world hated and hostile to the Spirit.

Hello Bill, Happy and healthy New Year to you! It is very moving to read the story of Absalom's rebellion and so terrible destruction! I think its important that the Spirit had David put this Psalm; about probably the most tragic and dangerous events in his life; in the beginning of the Books. And following the message of the 2nd Psalm, really brings the truth home to our real lives even stronger.

The longer we are in this world, the enormity of sin we see and understand/experience the effects of.Our confidence in God has he given to us through exposure to his word."Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing the word of God."Rom.10:17 God will triumph over the tens of thousands of peoples, and we will see it,in his timing,at his pleasure, as his people have blessings unto the remainder of eternity.

We are in the vast minority of the world.
We will have many come at us for our
faith in the Lord Jesus. Jesus said we
are not above Him. If He was persecuted,
so will his followers. When we go through
sore trails, people led by the spirit of this world,
scoff, these say to us, 'Aha, where is
their God now? We stay steadfast in faith
and the belief in the Love Jesus gave to us.

Verse 5 I love it when at the end of the day that I can go to sleep in perfect peace, knowing that God has forgiven me of all my sins confessed and also that He holds my salvation in His hands. That is a restful night!

The book of Psalm 3 was ministered at service and soon as I arrive home I began to study it over again. I realize God will give you great peace in the battle set before us.

BSP; Amen! It is interesting the way God had David put the most dreadful time of his life at the beginning of the Psalms. The matter around Absalom was not confined to his house alone; but was used by God to make manifest what was in the hearts of every man. The strong delusion and conspiracy grew as it did because so many who had known the blessing of God's Anointed turned instead to rebellion.

Verse 5: Even though David was dealing with some very distressing circumstances, in verse 5 he went to sleep and left matter in God's hands. We must trust in God and take things one day at a time.

Psalm 3 show me that David was a real person with real enemy, problem, and fears. Nevertheless through years of experiences with God's unwavering love, protection, and faithfulness David's resolve remained steadfast in-spite of his initial responses. This is also letting us know that like David, we all will experience struggles of every kind in our life time, but God is faithful and never change.

In the midst of his troubles, David pens down his thoughts and heart. God has preserved these ancient writings for us today, because he is still here with us, as he was with David. If God be for us, who can defeat him?

"Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God." What do the Righteous do to make the ungodly hate them? What did Abel do to Cain to make him get angry and kill him? Those who "will not have THIS MAN (Jesus) to rule over them;" who have no heart for knowing or doing the truth; think that their own life without God "proves" that there's no God, and their right to scorn faith.

They may say there's no help for you. But if you got him you ain't got to worry about them. Even though they may tear you down he will pick you up. Just call on the Lord in heaven, because that's where help is , your hope is and your home is.

Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? And they fell upon their faces, and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and wilt thou be wroth with all the congregation? O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come. My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD: and let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever. And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh. Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me? Be silent, O all flesh, before the LORD: for he is raised up out of his holy habitation. These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me for they are thine. While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition that the scripture might be fulfilled. And all flesh shall see the salvation of God. And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

Psalm 3 is one of my weekly prayers . I feel the Lord protects me from my enemies. I turn to this saving grace especially when people I have loved and cared for even given up something to help them and yet they speak ill of me , and when I am in great need they turn their backs and laugh at me . When I see this I ask Jesus to keep them away from me and he does so wonderfully well. Praise God Amen

I have read books on the Cross, when I was younger; but now I see, it's really something you have to experience to know! Just now we are appointed by God to walk in this fellowship with Jesus; to bear with the evil treatment and evil minds of ungodly men, because of Jesus' name;so to learn to despise the shame like Jesus did,and to endure with faith, joy and meekness. Sometimes I feel very alone.
