Thank you for that witness Maryfran. I will read Ps.27 right now and meditate on it today, and send you blessings and love through it... Someone who has gone through as many losses as you have, and remaining faithful to God.... this rivals Job. How many fall into complaint when they stub their toe. Bless You.
In the midst of your great sadnesses in life Maryfran, there is also great joy & hope in your message, having proved the Lord to be with you always, giving you the needed strength & special comfort that can only come from Him. The "arm of flesh will always fail us", as a verse in that old hymn goes, but the Arm of the LORD will never. May you continue to experience the joy & presence of the Lord with you in every way & every day, sister.
Psalms 27 has been one of my favorite scriptures for years. I uses it as a shield of protection in my home. A bible is always opened to it 24/7. God has been my salvation and strength through the death of my husband (at 25), both my parents, 3 brothers, 2 sisters, 2 sons and 2 grandsons. Verse 13 "I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living and 14 "Wait on the LORD; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart; wait, I say, on the LORD" Whatever you are going through wait on the LORD this Psalms will get you through it. Thank God for loving us, never leaving nor forsaking us. Amen

This is precisely what cured me of every scar in my soul after I was born again. I loved my Dad with all my heart. He worked so hard that he was not really available to nurture his 5 rowdy children; plus one my mother adopted.
My life story is one of feeling " left behind the door", abandoned; later, betrayed repeatedly. I retreated into astrology to find out what was wrong with me. 15 years later I was adopted by God. $Happiest day of my life.
You are adopted fully and legally into the family of God, through Jesus. We don't have to tiptoe around, afraid he will ever say it was a mistake. He's a covenant God. I am my Beloveds; my Beloved is MINE. (Song of Solomon) He wrote that 3 times. The most powerful day of my life was when I read those verses in succession. I never felt passed over or rejected another day of my life. He is Mine and I'm never letting go. He is the Bridegroom. We have covenant with Him. Rest in these scriptures:
Psalms 27:10
When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.
Proverbs 18:14
The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?
Romans 8:15
For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. [God becomes your Daddy]
Ephesians 1:5
Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
Romans 8:16
The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
1 Corinthians 2:12
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
Ephesians 1
6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us ACCEPTED in the beloved. (Jesus)
Pass this along to anyone you meet who needs to know they are loved and accepted. He who wrote it is called, Faithful and True.
I have spent over 4 decades offhandedly wondering about Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani, but was never called to researched it. I'm not as fluent in Psalms, I've read it 4x, so I was kept in the dark. Matthew 27:46 & Psalm 22:1 & Psalm 42:9 among other scriptures were fulfilled on the cross through Jesus Christ.
Knowledge is given to those who seek it. Ask God to open up the Bible to your heart. If you want to fast track your experience, I suggest you start off by reading these 5 books in order (of 66):
1) Genesis
2) Isaiah
3) Daniel
4) Luke
5) Revelation
This will give you a grasp on the Bibles foundation. Then when you have developed a feel for the Bible, go back and read Genesis through Revelation. It is a never ending learning process. Best of luck to you.
Hi Mercy , here are a few scripture that may encourage you in your walk John ch 14 verse 6 ,Isaiah ch 30 v 21 ,Hebrews. ch 13 v 5 and Matthew ch 28 v 20 .May God bless and keep you very close to Him .
Thank you, Chris! It was good to remember that David really didn't have a temple to go to (I didn't remember this detail). And really the church can serve us as a meeting place with God. I find then that there are two meeting places: externally, in the Church, and internally, in the secret of our hearts. Thank you for the answer, pray for me; God bless you!
I agree with you that it couldn't be the temple that David was referring to, as the Temple wasn't built yet - the first one built was by his son, Solomon. At that time, the Tabernacle was the place where God met with His people through the ministry of the High Priest & by the conduct of sacrifices. David could have referred to this 'Tent' as the House of the Lord, but as in so many of his writings, David always looked forward to the Heavenly Temple not made with hands. He might have regarded the time spent in prayer, seeking the Mind of God, or in the Tabernacle surrounds as special, but when He saw the Lord, with the eyes of faith & hope, all he could envision was the Lord in all His Glory, His Beauty & his longing to be with Him.
And for us to, it does us good to be at a Church Fellowship to worship the Lord together, but if we're not there or not having one suitable to go to, can we still find every reason & joy within to lift up our hearts in praise of God & to enjoy His Beauty & envision His Glory? What a day that will be, when our faith & hope we've held onto, become sight for us as we worship at His Temple: right in the Presence of the Lord of Glory.
Matheus Henrique da Silva on Psalms 27:4 - 3 years ago
What did David meant by "House of the Lord"? Could it be the temple? I think not. Because David could not be in the temple every day, he was a king and had his duties. Then, would it be a spiritual level? Would it be a state of grace? A life of continuous prayer?
Never said the tithe was connected into being born again age of grace law was 10% under grace give from heart best you can, then as God supplies need give according to increase. You cannot out give God. Smiles!
"We" depends on who you are, and the tithe only applies in the time of Israel, for Israel. Today, the giving is not mandated to a particular percentage.
Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye. Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. 1Corinthians 16:1&2 "As God hath prospered", is your determination after your needs have been met.
Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. 2Corinthians 9:7
Salvation is never according to what you do for God, but instead, what Jesus did for you on the cross. Salvation is never a law you follow, but the grace of God you must accept.
You know Diane, the one thing that I first consider when I hear of someone who has fallen into sin or even overwhelmed by it, is what has happened now, to change that situation. I hear your cry, but I also see that God has certainly NOT given up on you. Why is that? Because you demonstrate the very work of God the Spirit taking place within you. A person who doesn't or refuses to say what you have just now shared, is a person who cares less about the things of God & her soul, rather to feed the sensual appetite even more, trying to satisfy herself with anything that gives pleasure or security.
Your pleas for help & guidance in this matter is indicative of God speaking to you by His Spirit. As the Bible says in John 16:8, "And when he (the Spirit) is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgement". That is the Holy Spirit Who does more than being the Comforter, Guide & Minister to our spirits; He also convicts whenever sin enters in, He speaks to us of right (holy) living, & He warns of God's Judgement. Many reject God & His Gospel & are headed for certain fiery judgement, even when they feel the tug upon their hearts. But you have not only sensed that 'tug' in your spirit, but now wanting to set things right - and this is the first step to healing & restoration.
We have a saying: "there is no sin that His Blood cannot cover". Jesus' Blood shed for you, was applied when you first came to Him & still avails for you even now. Jesus said in John 6:37, "All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out." This is His Promise that the salvation He gave you, not only made you a child of God, but also promises that your Father, Who longs for His prodigal daughter to return, is not willing to reject you for anything.
Come to Him just as you are, read the Scriptures (maybe John's Gospel), praying & seeking forgiveness - let His Spirit speak to you through them - He WILL assure your heart.
There are several references to tithing in the Bible. Check out Genesis 14:20. A book I have that is helpful in these matters is Where to Find It in the Bible by Ken Anderson.
You have sometimes thought God walked off and forgot about you; but He doesn't do that. Within you He was growing the spirit of adoption.
Everything you've endured was to bring you to this day. How do I know that? I was brought that way too. I was the little gray duck in a family of swans.
Some day, even now, you'll be able to embrace the great work that God has been doing within your heart. Only you know the hollow feeling of not really belonging anywhere.
In the perfect time, God sent forth the Spirit of Adoption, into your life. His name is Jesus. He is your ABBA. Your Daddy.
Daddy means as close to his heart as you desire of him. Now write these 2 verses on the inside cover of your Bible.
Psalms 27:10 - When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.
Psalms 68:6
God setteth the Solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.
You're not a mistake. There is a plan in place for you. Let go of the past, and embrace your adoption and the future. Ask Him now to complete the work in your heart. Get still and listen for the Holy Spirits voice. One of peace; not fear and confusion.
I'm not speaking out of my flesh here. You are to have this Word now.
In this verse we are taught that if we would have the Lord hear our voice, we must be careful to respond to his voice. The true heart should echo the will of God as the rocks among the Alps repeat in sweetest music the notes of the peasant's horn. Observe, that the command was in the plural, to all the saints, Seek ye; but the man of God turned it into the singular by a personal application, Thy face, Lord, will I seek. The voice of the Lord is very effectual where all other voices fail. When thou saidst, then my heart, my inmost nature was moved to an obedient reply. Note the promptness of the response -- no sooner said than done; as soon as God said "seek," the heart said, "I will seek." Oh, for more of this holy readiness! Would to God that we were more plastic to the divine hand, more sensitive of the touch of God's Spirit.
Wait, I say, on the Lord. In anything we do as Christians we have to wait on the lord. Let God be your guide, by taking your hand leading you to the path of righteousness. Only the Lord can sustain to walk in the way he would have you to go. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and your might, lean not into your on understanding but trust him, the will not led you astray. Comments on psalms 27
