I always took "Thy Rod and thy Staff" as a reference to the powers he commands in his/our world to guard and protect his will and to keep us safe from harm.
I memorized the 23rd Psalms when I was 3 years old. It’s comforting to know Jesus is my Shepherd while I’m going through the Valley of the shadow of death. He restoreth my soul.
Happy Easter!
i love this Psalm cuz its soothing to me I read this at my grandmothers funeral n now gonna do the same for my mother who just passed on yesterday morning!!.. after such a long illness n several days mostly asleep from the meds her drs. had ordered for her but a werk ago i went to see her in the hospice n we had a very nice visit but I kept going there for snother week until the day of her death!!
It is an all embracing scripture that reminds us of the love, power might and righteousness of the Lord. It speaks to the humility of the King and likens his love to that of shepherd. The shepherd has never deserted his flock and in same manner Christ the Lord remains our protector, provider and friend. It is a wonderful experience with Christ and through His Word we are encouraged.
I am spiritually, even physically, connected to the people of the deep past when I recite this Psalm. It is soothing and nourishing. Through the words and their meaning, I feel directly connected to God. I love the connection to countless souls of the Jewish faith as well as my own sense of it as a Christian, that I so deeply feel when I recite it. May the Peace of God be with all.
I love it it is what we should know about God he is their for all of us and he will protect us all we have to do is believe and trust him he is God all by himself he is our shepherd and he will protect us and we shell not want for anything in Jesus name Amen

God has been good and I am glad that when you are saved he walks you and guides you through it all. And this verse shows it. Also he restores you soul for his name sake and he cleanses us of the enemy.
I really love this verse. It refers to what the Lord is doing presently and also what He promises to do in the future. Nowhere in that verse does the Bible say 'The Lord was my Shepherd ...or he made me to lie down...or he led me...or he restored or comforted'. It never touches on the past because the Lord is here now. He is the Alpha and Omega and is forever present in our lives. Just believe.Amen
