Psalms 119:73 "Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments." Our God knows and understands all things; and His desire regarding us has always been, that as His children we should also. If there had been no sin in the beginning... but we never got a chance to learn how to be His children the way He had in mind when He created us, until JESUS!!!!
"Let my cry come near before thee, O LORD: give me understanding according to thy word." There is no other Glad Tidings than that which was first entrusted to the Saints; and there is no way to make it easier and more comfortable for men, than that which the Lord prescribed; which is "except the corn of wheat go into the ground and die, it abides alone; but if it die, it brings forth much fruit."
Isaiah 8:20 - "To the law and to the testimony, if they speak not according to this word; it is because there is no light in them." Acts 17:11 "These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so." Job 23:12; Psalms 56:10; Psalms 119:104,128; Deuteronomy 6:8; 8:2-3; 11:18; etc.
Psalms 119:60 "I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments" V.120"My flesh trembleth for fear of thee, and I am afraid of thy judgments." V 160."Thy word is true from the beginning, and every one of thy righteous judgments endures for ever." Some say"there is scripture that does not pertain to salvation." This lie, leads people away from the verse I have listed here.
A disciple I posted; guess it was blocked.Apology accepted!I gave your post more thought; My"sensitivity" is in the spirit of Psalms 119:104. "Everything is not an attack"; When people speak against (turn into lewdness; His word, when they say God does not mean what he says, and they add to the word,it is spiritually attacking him,I abide in him. In these dark day we live in, His word is a lamp.
Psalms 51:6"Behold,thou desirest truth in the inward parts:and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom."(The Psalmist knows that the Lord expects him to know His truth, he will give him wisdom.) Ps.119:11"Thy word I have hid in my heart, that I might not sin against him." (A heart filled with his word, is pure and obeys his statutes,A filled heart will be revealed;how one lives, speech
i am: Blessed are ye,when men shall revile you and persecute you and say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Matthew 5:11 /--- The servant is not greater than his Lord if they have persecuted me they will also persecute you--- John 15:20 / Enter ye in at the strait gate for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leadeth to destruction--- Matthew 7:13
Rachel: All Born-again Believers will be Attacked in different ways. I have never been injured ,yet, but I have been in Jail 4Times because of Christ. People have told wild stories, lies, threats of injuries, fired from 2 different jobs. I was facing 30yrs. on false charges. I always thought life with Christ was smooth. A week after salvation I found out different. The Peace He Gives is Amazing
Remembering His way isnted confusion. I get attacked with the thought of or the devil saying that we have every thing backwards and we're being tricked that Jesus is not the son but a bad spirit made to keep us from the kingdom.does any one else get attacked like this in not stating that I believe this I just want to no if others get attacked the same way . If I offened any I mentioned no disrespect
While the Bible evokes admiration by it's wise advice rhythmic verse, fascinating stories and profound concepts, none of them alone compel us to change our lives. It's greatest feature is in expectation of obedience. This constitutes the major difference from all other writings. We cannot read just for enjoyment; it must alter the course of our lives. Unless it is obeyed, we read it in vain.
Thanks Irene123, your words are very encouraging. The darts do hurt, right now my darts are swords. But like you said, it not about me. When we come to that realization - we can thank God cuz we know HIS spirit in us is doing what God meant for it to do. Another wonderful point about Jesus and Stephen praying for their oppressors. It is that time in your life that you truly has experience God.
I am not ashamed of the Gospel. Psalms 119:129"Therefore I esteem all thy precepts concerning all things to be right; and I hate every false way." Psalms 119:104 also. 1Corinthians 6:12"All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient:all things are lawful for me but I will not be put under the power of any." A false way is against the Lord. False doctrine is against the Lord.
The Lord Jesus loves every soul; He hears our prayers for every soul. Ps. 119:42. Where our souls spend eternity is such a very serious thing!! Jesus prayed for those who crucified Him, as did Stephen, as did ALL Jesus apostles and disciples - that stayed with Him to their end.
Every experience man is going through in life is in the word of God and God has made a way of escape through His word. The entrance of His word giveth light. God's Word is light to all situations.
To Katapalca - I think maybe the 'consistency' of David's references to the word, law, judgments in almost every verse in this whole Psalm is what you were referring when you said, "..... always turning to the word ..... ? It's a GREAT Ps., isn't it? I'm sure very few people notice the consistency character of it. I did just now as I re-read it just before sending you this.
Psalms 119:2, that prayer is our main source of communication between Heaven and Earth. We must study Gods word to learn of him so that eventually it is planted in our heart so that it becomes a part of our everyday life. Prayer is the medicine to remain on track with God.
I really love Psalm 119 it teaches us that loving the Word of God is a very good thing and will bless us. In stipe of all that David went thru he always turned to the Word.
Ps. 119:11 - I used to think, up until a couple wks. ago, that this verse referred to just knowing right 'n wrong according to God; but it doesn't; it refers to David knowing the O.T. law - by heart - without looking at. I know this because - I have been told of a couple of pastors that know every word of the WHOLE Bible by heart that are living today. I know there are more than that.
This is a little off the 'beaten path', but I had to share it; tonight at church a woman asked me who my favorite author was. I said, "God". She said "no, secular books. I said I only read the Bible and books about it. I USED to read secular, but no more. They are SO-O-O boring!! Ps.119:167
It's a wonderful piece (just as all God's word is) I learned that there are only 4 verses that are not speaking directly to The Lord. They are verses 1 -3, and verse 115. All others are a prayer to The Lord. Also it is an acrostic of the Hebrew alphabet. There are 22 letters in the alphabet and there are 8 verses for each Hebrew alphabet which equals 176. Just a few things I've learned about it!
This verse of the day has given just another big hope to trust in God in Jesus name.God was for the old Abraham,Isaac,Jacob,Moses,David and others. He is the same God who promised thought the prophets that he will bring his own tosave the world. He is here now and i thank Him for the promises found in His word for He stands with the promise and fulfills.....Amen
