There are 176 verses in Psalm 119 and you could only ask one question and about what separates the sections of Psalm 119??

Come on! it is the longest chapter in the Bible!!

    Hi Norman,

I believe that suggestion is a insult to our Lord,

The creation shows his Glory! God spoke this universe into existence! God made these vessels of clay live! God has no beginning or ending, Knows our thoughts, Stands outside of time looking in!!

GOD IS OMNISCIENT, "ALL KNOWING "

Isaiah 46:9-10. Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,

Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

    .

Psalms 94:8-9. Understand, ye brutish among the people: and ye fools, when will ye be wise?

He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see?

Psalms 139:3-4. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.

For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Psalms 119:105,

WE DEPEND ON THE WORD FOR LIFE IN THIS WORLD AND THE WORLD TO COME!!

THERE'S NO FAITH WITHOUT THE WORLD AND NO SALVATION.

WITH THE WORD BEING SO PRECIOUS AND VITAL AND GOD BEING ALL WISE AND ALL KNOWING, WHY IS IT SO MANY PEOPLE DISCREDIT GOD BY SAYING HE CAN NOT PRESERVE HIS WORD!!

And little created man can out smart God by scrambling the inspired scripture and derail his plan for salvation. That thought is disrespectful.

    God bless.

I looked into this for you Mary,

Psalms 119 is the longest chapter in the Bible being 176 verses. It is divided into sections using the letters of the Hebrew alphabet. In which the first letter being Aleph then ending with the last letter Tau.

Hope that answers the question about those words you see in that chapter.

    God Bless.

Question: In Psalms 119 there are several verses that have one word (all caps) at the beginning of certain sentences What is the meaning and the purpose
  • Andrew Kingsly Raj - In Reply on Psalms 119 - 4 years ago
These are all Hebrew alphabet. Alaph, Beth, Gimal etc.,. Each and every line of a set of verses under an Alphabet starts from the corresponding alphabet. It clearly shows that David is well known to write songs (handling his language as a professional)

    Donald,

Read 1 Corinthians 8:8. Righteous before God is not by what you do, but by what you believe. Did Jesus pay for YOUR sins? The law was a schoolmaster to show us we are sinners that need Christ for salvation, not to make us good enough for God to save. Galatians 3:24. People who see a relationship with God through merit, are not only wrong, but also misrepresent what the real relationship looks like.

I believe that Psalm 119 is so long (176 verses) that it is divided by the Jewish alphabet A = Aleph, B = Beth etc... to divide it into smaller more readable portions. I have only read this today as part of my morning prayers, I hope this helps.

    God bless you JR

To get baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ is a wonderful thing. Afterward you have to consecrate you life, praying every day to receive the Holy Ghost.

But remember that before you get baptized you must have repented of your sin. That includes going to the people you know and asking them to forgive you if you have done anything wrong to them. It does not matter whether you know of something wrong you did to them or not. Go to everyone you know and tell them that you have given your life to Jesus Christ and now you are asking them to forgive you if you did something wrong to them.

    Peace and Love in Christ

Ian, that's a question many have contemplated long & hard over the generations. You could receive different views, but I can only share how I consider such an intriguing matter.

Whatever things are hidden from us & are in the domain of Almighty God need to remain with Him, without our compulsions to believe a certain way. One of the best verses that gives us a glimpse of this is in Ephesians 1:3-5 where Paul tells us of God's Plan for those He chooses. However, the verses only tell us that God has chosen us IN HIM (in Christ) even before the foundation of the world to be holy beings. And that God has predestined (planned our destiny) to be called His children through Jesus Christ & according to His good pleasure.

But, as you ask, why some & not others? Are we so privileged to belong to Him because our names were 'drawn out of a hat'? Or, did God, in His Omniscience, already know those whom He wanted or would respond to His Call & therefore appointed us to receive salvation? Is it at all possible that there could be some earnest soul wanting to be saved through Jesus, but is refused because of not being predestined? I have never seen such a pitiful situation as this.

Then why is the Gospel preached by the Apostles & the Church, if God's predestining overrides any effort or desire on our part? The only way I can understand this aspect of God's Character is by harmonizing the Scriptures. If His Love for the sinner was so great & persistent that He would send His Son for our sake & that Jesus Himself enjoined his apostles to take this Gospel message to the far reaches of the globe, then surely God's predestining & choosing is dependent on His prompting of a heart to hunger for Truth, to hear & receive the Gospel & be sealed with His Spirit. And those who will reject the Truth because of the hardness of their hearts, to them God has not shed Light nor predestined to salvation. Yet we still preach the Gospel so all may hear & know - that's our responsibility.

Our daughter was saved at a young age. She matured & grew in the Lord with much discernment. By the time she was 23 she was into homosexuality & has married her partner. She is going to be 46 in Oct. My question is if she has lost her salvation because of her lifestyle choice?

Annie - that is so true. Same edomite problem with many leaders in so called churches or they are sold out to them. I hate easter / xmass and what not so I am not of that crowd. One thing that bothers me about messianics is few will stand against the Talmud. I have read some of it in book form in the reference section of the library. I know what it says.

I had some claiming to be messianic deny the talmud exists. I know better. The kabbalah / Zohar is even worse. King Herod was an edomite per Jewish historian Josephus and yet he, Herod, would claim to be a "Jew" I am sure as he was involved in running the temple in the days of Christ. Yes the edomites give the true Jews and few true christians a bad name.

I am sure they planted xmass to drive away true jews away from churches. I have great respect for the Torah / Tanach believing Jews and know the Israeli state treats them poorly. I consider them as lost sheep. The ADL says the Vatican supports the ADL. When you came to Christ, did the family have a funeral? Following the way is oftentimes a lonely road. Stay close to the Lord things are getting bad.
  • Annie - In Reply on Psalms 119 - 4 years ago
Just a little comment concerning the Jewish people. Not all who say they are Jews, are true Jews, there are Edomites etc. But, it is sad to see that the Messianic's are never included. They are in the middle. The Jews don't want them and the Christians don't either, and yet they love Yeshua passionately, and do their best to live according to His Will. I know I am one.
