This is my favorite scripture because, you can dig into this scripture really deeply! James 1:19-20 is literally the main learning point of the old saying "God gave us two ears and one mouth for a reason", we should should use our ears to listen and learn and when we gain wisdom through this we can then use that wisdom to teach through our mouths; Cross References= Proverbs 17:27 and Proverbs 14:29! James 1:21-24 goes to show that we should lay aside all disobedience and defiance, read the word and live it; Romans 2:13, Jeremiah 44:16, and 1 Thessalonians 1:5!
Hello Tyler. I'm sorry to read of this 'hole' that you're stuck in, where nothing seems to be enjoyable to you or even worth pursuing. There are probably a whole bunch of reasons why we humans feel or behave in certain ways, whether it's in our genes, our family situation, our environment, lack of opportunities in life, even when there's no one to help & encourage us in some positive direction. I can relate somewhat to what you've written, as I've had a reasonably sheltered life (at least in my younger years), as far as friendships, interests or hobbies, even having parents who were very reserved in their lives & activities & what we kids were allowed to engage in.
There's no specific Scripture(s) that I can give that would help you, except to keep the matter before the Lord for His Work in your life, and also to extend yourself in some way or reach out to others (however difficult this might be for you), that might trigger the otherwise repressed motivation impulse in you.
The general verses that come to mind are: Psalm 37:5; Proverbs 17:22; Matthew 5:16; Galatians 6:9; Philippians 4:13; 1 Thessalonians 5:17; 1 Peter 5:7.
Some folk in this type of predicament might even visit a therapist, who would help identify any underlying emotional or other health problems & offer suggestions to kick-start your drive to trying out new things. Yet, some things in life require discipline; just as you would need to prepare food or clean the house, so too spending some time in Bible reading & prayer is very important. It's always an interesting journey when you commit this time to God & expect Him to reveal something special to you - this alone should motivate you, just as you are driven to feed yourself or live in a clean home. I pray that you might get a clear direction from the Lord & to pursue something that will bring glory to His Name & bless someone else in need.
Charles, have you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior? You didn't specify. This is the first step in your treatment. If you have not done so, please scroll to become a Christian at the bottom of this page. You'll be glad you did.
Heavenly Father, please heal Charles's pancreas from this cancer. God you're able and i ask You to heal him, please. In Jesus name. Please comfort him and help him to put all of his trust in You. Help him to draw near to You. As close as he can get by reading the Bible daily and standing on Your promises. Repenting of all known and unknown sin. Help him to forgive anyone he has been holding a grudge against , if there be any such person. Help him to eat whole healthy food give him wisdom in that department Lord . Cancer cannot stand in Your presence Lord. Help him not to stress. Let the Holt Spirit comfort him. Give his medical team wisdom and compassion. Bless them and send Angels to work among them. Work it out for his good and let it be his testimony! I ask this in Jesus name. And I thank You Jehovah Rapha, ( The Lord who heals)
What would cause a person to not know that he's lukewarm?
They are lacking gold tried in the fire.
They are naked lacking white raiment.
And apparently don't know it. "and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see."
The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the LORD trieth the hearts. Proverbs 17:3.
Gold is purged of dross ( Isaiah 1:25), so by the refining fire of temptations the faithful are cleansed from pride and self-reliance and the pollutions of sin.
When we are self-reliant, we are naked before the Lord.
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. Hebrews 4:12-13. (I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear;
Anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
I believe this is blinded by pride, this reminds me of the Pharisees.
Matthew 6:1-5.
John 12:43. For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.
There is no conviction in a person who is self-sufficient. spreading the gospel is not on the top of their list. Walking in the spirit is only in the church building afterwards everything else is just a discussion forum or a round table or a competition where we compete for first place.
The word of God is handled to loosely. If we have faith in the inerrancy of the word of God, we should display it cautiously.
Don't do it as a hobby, it may not be your calling.
Don't counseling on things you don't understand.
The only barrier to truth is to think we already have it.
Matthew 25:31-46, is how we are to treat the "least of these" to belittle anyone is a direct offense to GOD. 1Corinthians 1:20-27, Proverbs 17:5, Romans 14:13, James 4:11, 1Corinthians 4:5, John 13:34, Romans 12:10,
This is "brother or sister" literal & family of believers aka "brethren " because those words from "family" hurt deepest
Verse 14-If we see that a fight is about to begin where things may become violent, it is wise to take our leave and try to cool down before actions take place that we may regret.
As with the other "signs and wonders" gifts; questions exist of healings today as were the case in the Apostolic era. The verse in Corinthians ( 1 Cor. 13:10) which states that certain things will pass once the perfect comes leads some to question whether that means the end of Canon being written or when Christ Himself comes as to when tongues; healings; prophesyings and other such things will end. It is certainly clear that prophecy will characterize the Tribulation with the signs and wonders of destruction being given to the two prophets.
Strictly from an impartial view; there are instances when "spontaneous" healings seem to occur with cancer disappearing; for example. I am not aware of any doctors ever describing a limb growing back; however. There are also some so called healings that are clearly faked. These would; more often than not involve TV evangelists who have "healing" gifts assigned to a preacher. Often there is not good documentation from any reliable doctors; and testimony other than from the individual involved (such as family members; friends). We certainly don't hear of warnings like Christ had to "go and sin no more" nor have the discernment as to whether an ailment is because of sin; demonic influence or no fault of the individual; ALL which are dealt with in specific incidences differently in scripture.
God works out all gifts in distributing as He will. There certainly should be more prayer in general in churches for illnesses as well as a myriad of other needs. There is no indication that healing is mutually exclusive to seeing doctors; in fact the O.T. rules of seeing the Priest were mentioned by Christ on occasion after healing. General wisdom on proper care is important as well.
Proverbs 17:22 also shows how joy can bring healing; particularly for the soul. I have seen too many lives prolonged after prayer; so we should pray particularly for the saints and meet needs whenever possible.
Lord God, please help Amy and her momma & family/friends, get through Covid with NO adverse or lingering effects. Please protect all of their organs and their lungs. Bless and strengthen their immune systems. That it would be unto them a testimony.
I thank You Father for bringing me through Covid. And I praise You Father that my breathing is actually SO much better now than it was before Covid. I thank you I was able to stop my steroid inhaler cold turkey! (I started this inhaler almost a year before I got Covid.)

A quick explanation is that meditating on the Lord involves worshipping the living God who is outside of our own human soul; wisdom and understanding. Meditation according to Eastern religions invokes the soul within; or some deluded mindset that somehow we have a "spark of divinity" within us; or some goodness of our own that needs to be focused on; some mysterious power or control that we can have over energies somehow controlling our lives and the universe to our benefit.
I would like to add that one who meditates on God's Word is one who reads it often as well as thinking about what it means in relations to the Words of God as a whole. So, to do this one needs to read as much Scripture as is appropriate for the length of time they have been in Christ. The Holy Spirit will guide new believers and seasoned ones to what part of His Word He wishes you to consider at the present time. Follow this lead. It is also good to attempt to do a read through of the whole Bible. Maybe one will read the Gospels through, then Acts/Epistles. Then move on to Psalms or begin in Genesis to read the Pentateuch. Taking the Scriptures a section at a time in this way helps to overcome the large amount of text that is in the Bible.
Finally, I would like to add that one who meditates on the Word is one who has their mind set on God and His ways. Therefore they will view life and circumstances through the lens of known Scripture and recalling to mind or re-reading Scripture to apply to the circumstance.
I agree with the answers here and feel that besides study and thinking deeply on God's word that prayer can be another form of meditation. The healthy kind, not the worldly polluted kind.
T. Levis answer was very good! I only want to add that 'meditation' is something believers have always done, and been encouraged to do, in God's Word.
Satan, the great impostor, tries to counterfeit what God does. Thus we see false religions also practicing their own so-called 'meditation', but their 'meditation is so lame. They 'meditate' on crystals, candles, and every other kind of vanity, for they meditate not in God's Word! Their religions are a sham, a shame, and they are deceived!
Question for everyone. When I read meditation I immediately consider that is everything other then a Christian base. In the back of my head I don't feel or truly think that.
Thank you Kay for your meditations and thoughts! I myself am a member of at least a part of the visible Church. We are many congregations and united and undivided in our love toward Christ as our head and we confess a love toward his doctrines that we read in the New Testament. It is our desire to adorn his doctrines in our lives by grace. We also love one another. It was another brother who has passed into eternity that inspired my recent meditations.
This issue cannot but be on the minds of true believers who are following the Lamb.
It has been my observation for quite a while that when I've tried to find a church - instead of finding Christ exalted, I find, over and over and over again - the church exalting itself!!
There is all kind of talks about how great the church is, how great the pastor is, how great the youth ministry is, how much 'giving' is done to the missions program, how great the choir sings, and on and on and ON!! But....NEVER talk about how great JESUS is!
The church is a candlestick alone. Christ is the true Light.
The church is supposed to hold forth the Head, Jesus Christ! How perverse when the church holds forth itself!
Oh let us walk humbly with Jesus, and follow HIM WHEREVER He may go! Help us to do it, precious Lord!
Thank you for your reply, Marke. What I wrote, believe me, I wrote with such groaning in my heart and spirit. Some days I have such heaviness, such sighing, such crying.
For any true believer, to see our Lord's lovely name used in vain, to see His Word twisted, to see eternal souls so deceived - there is nothing else but to be sad and grieved unto prayer.
Mixed with that is a holy fear! ONLY God's grace and His grace, and mercy and power ALONE makes me to differ from anyone else! How I pray now for that amazing grace to keep me to the end and carry me over the finish line of my race!
I've mostly been enjoying your posts , however you do know that the things of this world are totally irrelevant don't you ? Christians , from all over this planet are spiritual Israel . Rev Ch 11 V 15 , Rev Ch 21+22 . This world is nothing compared to the Kingdom of God Num Ch 14 V 21 .
As Christians we have a responsibility to pray to God to deliver us from evil, both personally and corporally. We should pray that our national leaders make good decisions instead of bad. There are two main political parties in the US government and neither is focused on seeking and obeying God above all other considerations. Nevertheless, when voting for political candidates we should vote for the candidate who shows the most reverence and appreciation for God. That is almost always the republican over the democrat in today's political world.
Praying for Republicans to take power to save us from ungodly Democrats is folly. Both sides are sowing and reaping violence and lawlessness now and justifying it in service of politicial ambitions. Love is growing cold.
Factionalizing the church along worldly political power divides that demonize one side in blind service to the other is the last thing it needs. What is needed is repentance.
Hebrews 10:24-25
24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
Good post Kay. The biggest problem with the modern church is that, like the church of Laodicea, Jesus stands on the outside and not inside of so many hearts of those who participate in its ongoing work in the world. In other words, many if not most Christians in today's church are not even saved.
Hello Kay. Earlier today I was meditating on how the Church does not need the power or wisdom of the State. The Church is made up of believers that are lambs that love their Shepherd and will follow Him. Glad also to hear your meditations this day.
Quite a few years ago now, I had the blessing of hearing a sermon by a 97-year old preacher from the UK named Arthur Burt. In it, he explained that the problem isn't the world. Sinners behave the way they do because they aren't saved. The issue God has is with those who profess His Holy Name.
The condition of the visible church (generally speaking), is very sad; there is such greed, flattery, self-love, such competition, idolatry, worldliness, secret sin and even open sin; there is compromise; there is adding to the Word of God and there is taking away from it.
There is, in manifold cases, an adulterous union between the church and the state. We say, "God and country" ...but that is false. God has declared that He alone is God, and BESIDE HIM there is NO other. Sometimes I'm tempted to believe that people put the Bill of Rights on par with, if not above, the Bible!
The salt has lost its savor. The church has not been the preserving influence in our society it should be.
It is written, "If MY people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, THEN will I hear from heaven, and forgive their sin, and heal their land."
But where are the prayer meetings in which people are weeping between the porch and the altar, in travail, in intercession, in fervency and in earnestness?
Where are the prayer meetings where we cry out for God's will to come and be done, for His Spirit to be poured out, instead of just praying for our wants?
Where is biblical separation in the visible church? So many are so much like the world, they are almost hard to be distinguished from each other! I've have been saved almost 40 years, and have seen so much not only in our country, but in many other places in the world, and the case of the visible church is desperate.
The church, not the world, is the real problem; this is why we are under the rod of God. The problem is a spiritual one, not a natural one.

Strictly from an impartial view; there are instances when "spontaneous" healings seem to occur with cancer disappearing; for example.
