For the next few days we'll consider how spiritual growth, is gracious, gradual, and guaranteed. My interpetation is God's confirming his covenant & to be God's son and in growth. Galatians 3:17 KJV
And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.
Though we have an important role to play, even our determination to flourish with fruit of the Spirit is evidence of God's grace.
Eveidence- Hebrews 11:1 KJV
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Myself trusting God and having faith has blessed me with evidence to receive (fruit of the Spirit)
Ways you can have faith is by reading your Holy Bible, prayer, attending church, involved in ministry, volunteering.
The Holy Spirit is the one who stimulates our desire to grow in Christ. Growth is gracious. My interpetation is God's grace Matthew 3:2 KJV, Ephesians 2:8 KJV
Trust that growth will happen, and when it does, thank Jesus for the fruit produced by his appointment.
Scriptures that will help you trust God that he establish Deuteronomy 8:18 KJV, Proverbs 10:22 KJV
Producing fruit John 15:7-8 KJV
7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
If I may add a few points to this subject, I know we have different understandings on this and I hope you will not be offended, these are questions I have asked myself. What does Scripture support, our soul is an immortal entity that consciously lives on after the death of the body or does it sleep in the grave until the resurrection? Is the definition of death a separation of the soul from the body or is it the end of life, a permanent cessation, and the grave is our home until we are resurrected?
John 3:15-16 Without the belief in Jesus we will perish the Greek word apollumi means destroy utterly, to put out of the way entirely, abolish as in Psalms 37:10Psalms 92:7Proverbs 10:28-29 Job 20:4-7Malachi 4:1-32 Peter 2:12.
Matthew 10:28 we are to fear the one who can destroy the body and the soul in hell, the Greek word for destroy is apollumi same as perish, a permanent/absolute destruction. Hell, the Greek word is geenna the fire and smoke that goes up and burns forever that never goes out is a reference to the lake of fire. Job 17:13 the Hebrew word sheol is the same word translated as hell. Job 17:16 the word pit is the same Hebrew word.
Our first death is sleep, Psalms 13:3Daniel 12:2Acts 13:361 Cor. 15:51. If all souls are immortal which means they have eternal life, the question must be asked, what is the gift of eternal life we see in John 3:15John 6:54Romans 6:23Titus 1:21 John 2:25Jude 1:21? If our soul is immortal, why do we have to put immortality on as said in 1 Corinthians 15:51-58?
Hello Jordyn, I agree that we should quote your words, and S. Spencer has done not just once but many times. Debating others here is not always the best approach, but being open for correction is always appropriate.
"He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth." KJV
Proverbs 15:32 "He that refuseth instruction despises his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding."
Jordyn, it is not easy for any of us to her the words of one who doesn't follow our own ideas. But it is wise to read or hear them and to check our souls asking the Holy Spirit to show us if the criticism is true of us or not.
I won't speak for S. Spencer here. But I will say that your postings sound very much like those of Earl Bowman who has given the impression of having left this site only to come back 3-4 times with different screen names. So, it would be helpful to us if you will answer this question. Have you been on this forum in the past as Earl Bowman?
Please know that I pray for you and others on this site every day. I will continue to do so because, since God has brought us together on this forum, we ought to care for one another, be willing to pray for each other, be willing to listen to what others say and prayerfully respond, not to contend, challenge, or debate others, but to express ones own belief, stand firm on our own beliefs if need be, and always have a willingness to admit to oneself that we may be wrong in our views and need to eliminate certain aspects of our beliefs to align with Scripture. We should be gracious to one another, not combative, not eager to have a "come back" for what someone else posts to us.
At times, participants on this forum do cross the line and say things they ought not have said. Apologies area always in order and should be warmly accepted. Some times it is best to exit a thread for the sake of peace.

Genesis 15:18
King James Version
18In the same day theLordmade a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:
GOD said let there be light. I can see these things on earth as it is in heaven
We cannot say Satan made me do it, we are responsible if we sin.
What is death? Is it just the body that dies and our conscious soul, lives on somewhere outside the body? This started when the serpent said to Eve, Ye shall not surely die, you will be as gods. Most pagan religions have an afterlife where the soul lives forever. In the Bible, the OT is the word Sheol meaning the grave and death was sleep with no knowledge or consciousness, nowhere is the immortal soul in the Bible.
When Adam and Eve sinned, they were taken out of the garden and forbidden eternal life/immortality from the Tree of Life, Gen. 3:24. When the OT was translated into Greek Sheol became Hades with the Greek meaning that came with it, and in English, it's Hell with the same Greek meaning, the soul separates from the body and the conscious souls goes to a place of the dead. Many believe there is either eternal life with Jesus or eternal damnation in Hell/lake of fire where they will be tormented for eternity.
If we say our soul is immortal, we are saying we are gods because we cannot die. But the Bible says without the gift of eternal life given to us in the resurrection we will die the second death, we will perish, be destroyed forever to be no more. Romans 6:23Psalms 37:10-13Psalms 92:7Proverbs 10:25, 29 John 3:162 Peter 2:10-12, they are mortal and will perish.
The unrighteous will be destroyed/perish, they will have their part in the lake of fire, Rev. 21:8. Their death is forever, not forever in torment. When we die our destiny is fixed, there is not a second chance after death. This adoption of the Greek philosophy of the immortal soul and Hades fogs our understanding, it plugs our ears that are to hear.
I could say more but I will leave it here, I hope you will study for the truth. We should empty our minds in prayer where we are open to the truth given by the Spirit of Truth, not led by the traditions of men, Colossians 2:8.
There is something to be said for wisdom that comes from above in guiding our decisions; if anything simply trusting the Word of God on certain things like guidance on money ( Proverbs 10:2 on "ill gotten gains"; Proverbs 20:21 warns of a quickly received inheritance that is spent rapidly and or unwisely reminding us of the story of the son who squandered his inheritance in Luke 15.)
Similar things can be said for other basic issues in life such as behaviors that enhance or disrupt marriages and other family relations; as well as the general counsel not to trust in themselves. Proverbs 3:5-6 warns us about not leaning on our own understanding.
The difficulty comes in the seemingly mundane actions that the saved and unsaved perform every day. At least we USED to assume a standard indicative of verses like 2 Thessalonians 3:10 which interestingly enough was apparently repeated by Lenin (an avid atheist) but for some odd reason is missing from the far left today. Go figure. When we look at work; assuming that we are not a total criminal for a living (not to be the case as much today in society); we can certainly see how those who are highly skilled; making a "name for themselves" in the world as well as very rich can be much more likely to be caught up in their own accomplishments and status. What would be considered a disaster for them (i.e. having to do manual labor because of mental decline or their company folding) would be to many a cause of rejoicing who are struggling to survive. Such perspective of individuals inevitably squews (however you spell it) our viewpoint. Our natural affections are self centered as well as many of our personal dislikes. The Spirit must be renewing the inner man daily and those who are saved have access to this sanctification. There is ALWAYS contention between the Spirit and the flesh; it may lie dormant but sin is always present as long as we are in these mortal bodies ( Romans 7:24).
Proverbs10:11. How truthful The mouth of a righteous man can be used in uplifting, edifying bringing peace to others all he wants to talk is about God's love and what God has done for him
Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty ( Rev. 4:8). This aspect of the Lord which should characterize our daily praise was a topic a friend of mine from out of town who I'm visiting next week brought up. He; as I am is highly supportive of the "grace gospel" (i.e. God's sovereign plan of election giving no credit toward man for any of his own righteousness in being saved). It is true; however that many of our houses of worship are more caught up in an academic exercise when it comes to the "institutes of Calvin" than spending a time worshipping a Holy God who condescended to save any worms like me. ( Job 25:6). He; who is the creator of all things is above all; so that even the stars are impure in His sight ( Job 25:5).
There are truly heavenly joys that we cannot comprehend now. ( Psalm 16:11). Everyone; from Daniel and Isaiah and Ezekiel in the O.T. and John in Revelation fall in awe and wonder at His presence. It is a true statement that God is love ( 1 John 4:8); but we need to view this in light of 1 Cor. 13:4-8. We must; therefore also see His grace along with His judgments in light of His righteousness; and eternal omnipotence as the King of Kings; Lord of Lords. God does not change; and if we remain in Him we shall never be moved (see Proverbs 10:30). Heaven and earth will perish before one "jot and tittle" of the law perish ( Matthew 5:18). Since this is New Testament; surely this refers to the true meaning of the law and the motives of our hearts.
May we; although flawed be characterized by a unique reverence for God so we can be known as just men ( Matthew 1:19). To be salt and light; we must be distinct from the world and through the fear of the Lord comes the beginning of understanding ( Prov. 1:7; 9:10; etal). If we put to death the deeds of the flesh through the Spirit ( Colossians 3:5; Romans 8:13) then we can let His Spirit transform us ( Romans 12:2). Let us begin each day with praise. Agape; Rich P

When God began working on my heart I was lead to this website and it helped me tremendously. Having no real Christian connections it truly allowed me to feel connected to some of "the right people." I received great information, encouragement and a little love when I really needed some! It became a candle in the darkness.
I hope you enjoyed your day today brother and praise God for the breath in our lungs on this day! What a blessing!
This website is the Greatest site that our GOD led me to receive, thank you so very much for your Love for Our GOD, have a blessed day to you, your family and your work family

You do this in every post I've seen. You start with a paragraph accusing or condemning someone and then try to manipulate it to sound like you're helping. I don't know how many times it needs to be said...this isn't a site for political, ideological, denominational or otherwise...conflict. Read the Comment Guidelines and ask yourself if you're coming here to help those who don't understand the Bible well in a simple way with reference to the KJV? Are you edifying the church? Or are you causing discord and preaching personal doctrines?
You could have simply written: Let's pray for all of those under the oppression of religion [Bible verse KJV]. Let's pray for those oppressors in Islam that God may have the final word [KJV verse] and that they may be saved. Let me be a light to them.
But you write these post with a multitude of words. Try humility when you're faced with a disagreement because there are plenty we can find but that's not the purpose of KJV online discussion. It's for the edification of the body and outreach to the unsaved. That's it.
Proverbs 10:19 KJV: In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.

Hello, welcome to the Discussion & Questions section of this website.
Many of us here volunteer here because we love GOD & love HIS people, whom HE created.
Like Adam said be careful about listening to opinion. This is such a difficult topic, emotionally, spiritually, morally etc. This issue effects society, families, individuals.
1st let's address the effects = Loss to their family, loved ones, friends, community & even the World. Loss of what that person would have accomplished, & what that would have attributed to each mentioned. 1Corinthians 12, Psalms 139,
2nd, What that leaves behind = confusion, sadness, undue feelings of guilt, grief, helpless feelings to those dear & close to the person & then effecting all around them, even extended to people that looked at that person as an example, children nearby, jobs, everyone & everything left, all effected 2Corinthians 3:2, 1Timothy 4:12,
3rd root causes = pain, abuse, sometimes just selfishness, etc. But we are not without hope, Romans 8, (whole chapter)
The Bible does not say much specifically about smoking cigarettes, although it does deal with good pursuits and bad habits. However, smoke is an irritant and God does not encourage people to fill their lungs with irritants.
Proverbs 10:26
As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.
Proverbs 10:31 The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom; but the froward tongue shall be cut out.
the froward tongue speaks against the truth Jesus' truth so therefor it will be cut out on judgement day most likely. Froward mean to be habitually disposed to disobedience or opposition to any kind of truth written in the Bible or against God's comandments.
I love the Bible ! I keep learning different facets & understanding as I go through my life. I try to live right . Yes ,@times I stumble& @ times even splat flat out.God helps me. I firmly believe this. God has blessed me in many ways . He has taught me to have trust & faith. I am thankful for His blessings! God loves us all so very much always. He doesn't abandon us.Pray for all.God Bless you all ! I learn from all of you ! We just need to trust & obey ,putting one foot in front of another. One can pray anywhere @anytime whether one is standing or on their knees .
Thank you for those good words from our great God and Savior!
I was thinking today about how remarkable Jesus' whole life must have been to those who lived with Him and saw Him live from day to day from infancy on. He NEVER sinned. What did His family and childhood friends think about what they saw him do and say? Did people notice how holy and righteous He was? It must have been so obvious. Maybe that is why people followed Him so readily, knowing that His teachings matched his lifestyle. No hypocrisy, no misplaced emotions, nothing retaliatory or underhanded in all of His interactions, never a coarse of ungodly word, no guile, perfect innocence.
How lovely that must have been to behold as His mother, relatives, and friends.
To the person who said God gave a new commandment to love your neighbor. That is NOT A NEW COMMANDMENT.
OLD TESTAMENT:
"but you shall love your neighbor as yourself; I am the Lord."
Leviticus 19:18
Jesus came to FULFILL the LAW! NOT DESTROY IT.
Jesus Christ kept every commandment and did not sin once. If Christ is in us we do NOT continually DISOBEY.
"And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning."
1 John 2:3-4, 7 KJV
"Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil."
For the next few days we'll consider how spiritual growth, is gracious, gradual, and guaranteed. My interpetation is God's confirming his covenant & to be God's son and in growth. Galatians 3:17 KJV

Hope to see you back here in the comments Gerald!
God Bless you and your family my friend!
I'm responding to your reply without reading any of the responses, so my thoughts will stay focused. Just incase there's repeating._..

Hope = Hebrews 4:8-16, Romans 5:1-21, Romans 15:4,13, Galatians 5:5, Colossians 1:23,
Strength to endure = James 5:10, Romans 12:12,
Comfort = 2Corinthians 1:2-4,
Purpose = Ephesians 1:17-19,
People that went through feelings of that but made it through = 2Corinthians 1, Job 7:15, Jonah 4:9, Matthew 26:38,
Direction = Proverbs 2, Proverbs 8, Proverbs 10:2, Proverbs 24:10-12, Hebrews 4:15-16,
Disobedience to GOD = Psalms 68:20, Ezekiel 18:32, Ezekiel 33:11, Exodus 20:13, Deuteronomy 5:17,

Proverbs 10:26
As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.
the froward tongue speaks against the truth Jesus' truth so therefor it will be cut out on judgement day most likely. Froward mean to be habitually disposed to disobedience or opposition to any kind of truth written in the Bible or against God's comandments.
Of the Gospel, for it is the power of
God unto salvation to believe in Him
and fully trust in Him !
To God be the glory - Amen!
Have a most blessed day !
Psalms 73:22-28, Titus 3:2-8, Matthew 7:26,
1 Corinthians 4:9-13, Proverbs 4:5-18, Proverbs 5:1-2,
1Corinthians 1:18-31,
Hopefully these are helpful in your study.
1 John 3:4-8 KJV
