I think this verse will inspire you. The reason being, that when we submit to fantasy and lust, our minds aren't on the Lord.

    Philippians 4:8

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

One way to improve self-control is to remove everything that causes lack of it.

Read in Proverbs for wisdom. Titus 1:15 and Genesis 38:6-10 for resolve to honor the Lord with your body. Paul taught that if we struggle with singleness, to consider marriage.

    I hope this helps.

Tony I thought for a while about your questions but given this is for the most part a format that is here

to discuss the positives of believing Gods Word and deliverance through Jesus Christ, I don't see the profitability

spiritually of continuing this area of conversation. If someone else chooses to that's there privilege, so that being

Hello. This a Psalm of David. The occasion of this Psalm is set at a time when he was being persecuted & chased by Saul and then sought refuge in the country of Achish. See 1 Samuel 21:1-15 for the account.

So, this is David's prayer to God, trusting God for His protection & guidance and not to trust in his own wisdom or devices. And this David did as he fled to Gath & also when he fled from Gath. When David confidently placed his trust & his life in God's Hands, all his fears & dread of what might happen to him, left him.

And that is what real faith is: to give our concerns in life & the worries & dread in our hearts, completely over to the Lord for Him to deal with & help us - and not looking back at the problems. In like manner, the Apostle Paul many centuries later could say in Philippians 4:6,7, "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." David knew God's Peace in that awful time in his life - Paul also knew God's Peace when he faced afflictions & persecutions as a devoted servant of the Lord - and we can know it too as we confidently rest in our Lord Jesus & let Him take full control of our lives.

Gigi A few principles I keep in my head all the time in life or situations do not assume of presume anything because that's your natural thinking pattern possibly blocking what God might be telling you to do. This is totally different than common sense planning ahead. One of my favorite scriptures I memorised Philippians 4:8 helps keep the head clear of any negatives. One other thing no matter how a person treats me I remember a certain Guy on a Cross that said forgive them father for they know not what they do! We have no problems forgiving others if you remember what you've been delivered from. I'm no body special, like all of here doing my best to believe and walk in the deliverance paid in full for.

'Alway' & 'Always' are the same. The former is an archaic adverb of what we generally use today. You will see it appear in Philippians 4:4 & many other verses throughout the Scriptures as well as the word 'always' showing up. Why the translators chose to do it this way, I don't always know (or, was it 'alway' know).

Timothy This is some heart, when I got born again all of my friends were dopers including guess who. Now all I knew is wow something happened and I didn't want the stuff any more, but I still considered these guys friends I knew them for years. Went to a friends house where they lit up passed it arouncame to me and I said don't need it or want it any more. The fun began why not, are you a narc now are you crazy, if you don't do this we are no longer friends. Then I said I because I was more hurt than anything, at one time none of us did this and we were friends and now that I say I don't want to smoke anymore we're not friends that's insane. I walked out a little confused and hurt but my heart said its O.K.

I did get to witness eventually to all them but of course they considered me nuts.

One of the things to help with deliverance is completely new associations which God can and will provide trust me he did it for me and I'm a nobody. Some additional verses for the mind Ephesians 4:23-32, Philippians 4:6-9, Colossians 3:1-17. I leave you with this, Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His Wonderful Face and the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His Glory and Grace. God Bless

Hi Jennifer Gods knows your need better than anyone else, also he knows your heart, these are for the mind to heal, He sent His Word and healed them. Romans 5:1+2 Peace with God, greatest cargoes of life come in over quiet seas.

Romans 8:28-39 more than a conqueror and nothing [think about that] can separate us from the Love of God which was in Christ Jesus our lord. You and God are not at odds anymore he is your Father and fathers meet the need of all His Children.

1 John 3:1+2 Beloved now are we the Sons of God, also 3:20-22 he's there to answer prayer and needs during confusion quilt, condemnation, because he knows we will deal with this stuff.

2 Timothy 1:7 Anything opposite of these three is not of God.

Change your mind change your heart

Put on in the mind Colossians 3:15-17 also Colossians 1:11-14 and Ephesians 3:14-20 notice how many times Christ is mentioned. We were saved by confessing Romans 10:9+10 and at that time we received the spiritual power that raised Him from the dead that why Paul wrote Christ in us the hope of Glory

Ephesians 4:23-32 Putting on the new man in the mind that's why I said change your mind change your heart. Proverbs as a man thinketh in His heart so is he.

Philippians 4:6-9 Be careful for nothing means anxious in verse 6, now verse 13 notice through Christ again that's the power that works in us.

Colossians 1:11-13 we are strengthen with might and we have been made partakers of the saints in light its incredible.

We have been made more that conquerors through Him that loved and loves us and those scripture are part of that. There are over 400 promises in Gods word to us who believe we can only do whar we know and act on.

    Prayerfully this helps.

Hi Jessie Hill Something I keep in mind the spirit in us is perfect we do not sin walking by the spirit but the flesh is weak and the mind is in the category of the flesh, therefore the battle is in the mind putting on the mind of christ to control the flesh to walk by the spirit. Committing sin is not just having a thought it is the carrying out in action of the thought. Now if you dwell or constantly think of negative stuff its just a matter of time before an individual carries out what there dwelling on because eventually they will believe it in there heart. Proverbs Guard thy heart with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life. Whether its positive or negative anything an individual dwells on or thinks about enough they will eventually become or do. Guard your mind Romans 12:2, Ephesians 4:23-32, Philippians 4:8, Colossians 3:1-14 2 Corinthians 10:5. Prayerfully this helps.

I take it to believe "yea", may not be him rejoicing but even that, has scripture backing Philippians 4:4-9, James 1:2-4, 1 John 4:18,

even if we walk in/near death we should not fear because GOD promises to be with us (that trust in HIM) Deuteronomy 31:8, Hebrews 13:5-6, John 14:16-21, Psalm 139:1-24, Psalms 37:40,

    The rod; Proverbs 13:24, Job 21:9, Proverbs 29:15, Lamentations 3:1, many times references discipline, correction: Proverbs 22:15, Proverbs 23:14, Proverbs 3:12, Hebrews 12:4-8-11, Staff: Hebrews 11:21, Zechariah 8:4, Exodus 21:19, Numbers 22:27, 2 Samuel 3:29, Judges 6:21

    Philippians ch 4 v 9

This is the overcomers chapter ,

Verse 9 says if we DO what we know is truth GOD will be with us .

This is true fellowship with God ,actually knowing him and communicating with him spiritually.

Walking with God , what more could a person want ? This should be greatly desired , all the promises become real in our very life , and more .

The book of Daniel say that they that know God shall be strong , and do exploits.

Delight yourself in the Lord and he shall give you the desires of your heart . That means your desires are in tune with him , not sinful .

Yes He is worth getting to know more than any one or thing that comes your way . But the cost is very high .

Apostle Paul said he counted the loss of all things dung , that he may know God . That should be an encouragement to us , it sure is to me in these uncertain times .

Precious friend, actually, God Is THE "soul winner," we are simply co-labourers With HIM, and we simply "plant the Seed" of The Gospel Of GRACE, and then, when the recipient 'believes,' "God Simply Gives The Increase" {'winning' the soul}.

Further Growth In GRACE is when we "water the Seed" {by "studying HIS Word of Truth, Rightly Divided" ( 2 Timothy 2:15), and teaching others to do the same}, And, Then "God Also Gives that Increase" of understanding and Full Assurance for Growth In GRACE!" Amen? ( 1 Corinthians 3:6-15; Colossians 2:2)

The "pattern" is our GRACE apostle, Paul ( 1 Timothy 1:16; Philippians 4:9):

"Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and The God Of Peace shall be with you."

Please Be Richly Encouraged, Enlightened, Exhorted, and Edified!

    Dear Jon,

I think your definition of the word psychology in your mind is different than my definition. To me it is about how we think. It also sounds like you view it as conflicting with submitting God, but I still don't understand this point. I assume you work- how do you know what you do is of God and not man? I assume you learn things, like reading things: how do you know that's of God and not of man. How do you know that posting here is of God and not of man?

You disagreed that the Bible used positive thinking and you said it was invented later by a man. But did you actually read the verses I shared? I thought you wanted to see Bible verses and I spent time trying to help you. If you didn't even take a second to hover over to read them that would make me sad, because people like me and others who regularly visit this site are trying to help and we generously offer our time to share scripture.

So, I will post the same verse again so this time you see it.

Philippians 4:6-8 - the last verse is "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."

It says to think of good things. Do you agree with this verse? Do you agree that thinking of good things is what God wants us to do? If so, then you believe positive thinking is good, right? This comes direct from the Bible. God has shared much wisdom from us through His Word. I don't see how following His Word is somehow bad because you associate it with a "psychology" that conflicts with God. Thinking positive thoughts IS what God asked us to do, so why would I disagree with that?

You seemed to conflate 'faith' and 'trust' with thinking. These are separate things.

    Have you also read these?

    Hi Jon,

Thanks for explaining your question a bit more. This is an interesting question I haven't heard before and I'll gladly share my opinion. I personally do not see much scripture support against what you call psychology. So to start I looked up a definition of 'psychology' and Cambridge dictionary says: "the scientific study of the way the human mind works and how it influences behaviour, or the influence of a particular person's character on their behaviour:"

My understanding is it is just studying our mind and how we think. In a counseling session we discuss our thoughts/feelings/thinking and someone can sometimes help see any negative patterns and can sometimes help someone. There is pastoral counseling that is often the same thing. It's my belief that the Bible supports positive psychology concepts like positive thinking, for instance Philippians 4:6-8. It also challenges us to not be anxious, to take each day one at a time: Matthew 6:34. These are practical psychological wisdom that even atheists usually agree with, but this wisdom came from God.

My view of psychology is something everyone already does- such as talking to teach other. Fellowship is Biblical and is also therapeutic- not much different than talking with a counselor in my opinion. Also education and learning is ok, and that is also done in church. Challenging ourselves is also a positive thing. The Bible is full of personal challenges, and much of them is mental or psychological, such as focusing on following and emulating Jesus and not on sin.

What I think you did is interpret 1 Cor 3:5 as to avoid all wisdom from man. But it says don't put your "faith" in them. It doesn't say don't go to school, college, to not learn anything, to not ever be counseled, to not even talk to your parents, or anybody who says anything personal. So, my interpretation of this verse is probably different than yours and I see no problem with psychology. God bless...

Precious Marva: "does god hear my prayers when I'm unable to speak, but pray silently."? Yes, God Hears all humble people who approach Him, in faith, including dumb people who cannot speak:

As we grow mature in The Lord, our Savior is Glorified. As believers in Jesus Christ it is given us "in behalf of Christ, not only to believe on Him, but also to suffer for His Sake" ( Philippians 1:29). (Borrowed from brother Ed Bedore) My study:

Job Auta Fruit is an indicator of spiritual growth and spiritual growth is determined on what you keep in your mind and act on. Things to put in mind Philippians 4:6, 4:8, Ephesians 4:22-32, 2 Peter 1:1-8 notice verse 8 for if these things be in you and abound they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Question on Hebrews 4:11 Another aspect of our rest in believing is in Philippians 4:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure. The more we walk in Him the more he works in us. We need to be as committed in our faithful walk as our brother Jesus Christ that's the rest. Walking by the spirit is more inspiration than perspiration. In His Service

Question Hebrews 4:11 Context is in regards to believing consistently in the accomplished work of Christ, the Children of Israel even though God showed them incredible signs of His power they kept disobeying because of their unbelief, therefore an entire generation fell in the wilderness due to unbelief. When we believe with consistency that God will meet our needs by everything accomplished in Christ we can no pun intended rest assured that all our needs will be met. Philippians 4:19 But my God Shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. I put it simply Let Go and Let God. In His Service

PRAY, read your Bible, memorize Scriptures, sing--cling to God in all His ways. He has also given scientists the knowledge to developed medication designed to treat mental illness. Nothing to be ashamed about doing that. It's like taking an aspirin for a headache or cough medicine for a cough. If you and your mother aren't taking meds or have quit taking meds, please seek out a doctor to treat you.

May you find hope in God and feel His longing for you to come closer to Him.

Psalm 34:17-20 When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken.

Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

2 Timothy 1:7 For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

God bless you, comfort, and keep you.

The Bible calls it Pestilence. Pestilence can be illnesses, plagues, pandemics.

Use the Search Box on this website to look up those other words I added.

Just reading all the verses gives a real clear picture of what these things are.

You can GOOGLE: PAST PANDEMICS LIST

to read a list authored by the CDC. Even if the numbers are low, it shows that the earth has undergone this before. Only in The Bible it says these things will speed up and be more overwhelming as when a woman is about to give birth.

Know what Matthew 24, and Luke 21, warns us of to be looking for the Lords return. Also, 1 Thessalonians chapters 4 and 5. It's good to read Peter. I keep my mind anchored on Philippians 4:8

    Matthew 17:21

Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

    Mark 9:29

And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.

Like your friend I was spiritually blind and deaf. I only remembered wondering why Christians never invited me to go to church with them.

I was saved like Paul. I had been an astrologer. I believed the stars would tell me all the answers. All I knew after I was saved, is Someone was telling me how to be free. Acts 19:19.

Your friend may not be able to hear the Truth: John 3. You may have to put on your armor and pray and fast from food and media. BIND up the spirits of blind, deaf and dumb (can't speak Gods Word). CAST them into outer darkness. Pray to the Lord of the Harvest to send laborers to your friend; ask God to protect him with His angels.

The Devil just wants to hurt you; make you feel inadequate to help your friend. He doesn't want us to feel equipped to evangelize. He likes us paralyzed and doubting.

Dig in. Announce your fast. You can drink water.

Satan and his workers are invisible. You're not going to see them. You will be peeling their hands off of your friend. Claim his soul for the Kingdom of God. If you gotta go sit in your car to "turn up the volume", do it. Jesus defeated Satan when he was on his fast...WITH THE WORD OF GOD. Scriptures. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you some good ones.

Be kind to your friend. Maybe ask him if he minds if you can say a few words...and just speak blessings, a good week at work, favor in all his dealings, etc.

Don't reveal your warfare on his behalf. The Lord is our Intercessor and He's working out the details. Just stand on your scriptures with your most holy Faith. Expect a Miracle. Sing unto the Lord. Philippians 4:8

    Dear Kim,

Keep yourself clothed in Christ so that everything in your life is presentable to the Lord. Romans 13:14 "But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof."

Pray. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."

Stay the course no matter what happens or what your emotions are Philippians 4:6-7 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 2 Corinthians 5:7 "For we walk by faith, not by sight."

    God bless you!

    Hi Tyron,

This verse shows us how to deny the flesh. Romans 13:14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof. In other words, walk in Christ, staying away from things that will cause you to sin.

    Asking for a mate...

Philippians 4:6-9 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me-practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you."

2 Corinthians 6:14 "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" Choose a wife who is a born-again Christian.
