Here's what it is referring to in Philippians 4:8:
It says, whatsoever things are true: that is truth. Think about things that are the truth, especially in Christ.
Secondly, whatsoever things are honest: the word honest means something that is honorable and reverent toward God. If it honors the Lord!
Whatsoever things are just: that's the word for righteousness. And it means those things that are right with God.
Whatsoever things are pure: this word comes from the word for separation. And it means concentrate or think on those things that are separated from the corruption of the world, things that are pure, unmixed with the world.
Whatsoever things are lovely: that is whatever things that are pleasing from a spiritual perspective.
Whatsoever things are of good report: this word comes from the word fame. So when people come and give you a report about somebody else, only listen to reports that are of good report that fits in with everything else, pure, pleasing spiritually. Don't listen to the negative reports.
He says if there be any virtue, (ARETE), and it means character, anything for the development of your character. And if there be any praise to God, the command is to think on these things.
The Greek word for think is LOGIZESTHE, and it is where we get our word logic from, the reasoning processes. It is a Present Imperative which means continue to set your reasonings and your thoughts on these things.
We have control over what we meditate on and focus on. But we sometimes worry to the point of sickness because we want to handle things ourselves. We're supposed to just trust the Lord with it, but we don't want to let go of it, we want to worry about it, you know? It's like if I let God take care of it then it might not get done right, so I've got to do it.

Revelation 21:7
Revelation 22:18, a warning
Note: first 2 scriptures are what David prayed in prayer after he royally messed up, and knew it.
This is how we should pray in 1 John 1:9 always.
(Your Surety= Hebrews 6:18-20)
When we royally mess up.
We are a Royal Priesthood. In Hebrews 6:18-20 is named the High Priest of our faith.
I will pray. God has blessed you with freedom to make choices and take action and I also challenge you to take action towards improving this area of your life. So, instead of just asking God to take care of this for you, it's both praying and you doing your part. This is a good verse to repeat regularly: Philippians 4:13
We don't know each other, but I already detected a word you said had a negative slant to it and I don't believe is true. You wrote that you "can't" leave your home. But you can. Sometimes negative thoughts need to be challenged. If what is said is true, then surely it can withstand a few questions, right? Often we entrap ourselves in our own mental prison, because of our own negative thinking. So, instead of assuming you can't do things, assume you can. Instead of looking at glass half empty, look at it half full. Instead of looking at your life as what you don't have or can't do. Thank God and be greatful for all you have and all you CAN do. Keep repeating Philippians 4:13. That verse says you CAN not a can't. Who do you believe more, God, or that thought that said you can't? Where does the can't thought come from? Your parents, relative, spouse, you as a child, a boss, satan? Is it true only for you or for everyone else? Is it true 100% of the time, only part of the time, or none of the time? What if it wasn't true?
I'm not sure if you realize this, but many people used to have paralyzing anxieties and no longer do. If millions of people could learn to manage and improve in this area, don't you think there's a high % probability you can too? I'm sure you're aware of all the resources God has already blessed us with to help, like books and counseling with ideas. The #1 thing to reduce anxiety is exposure to the thing that triggers the anxiety, in tiny little increments. Open door, close it, open door take one step, go back, etc. Each day expanding, and using positive reinforcement. Then challenging our assumptions and negative thoughts. God bless..
God said in his word ask and it shall be given you knock and the door shall be open seek and you shall find. If a evil man know how to give good gifts to his son well when you ask the Lord Jesus for something he will give it to you all you have to do is to obey the Lord and live by his word and anything you asked of him he will bless you with
"God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?" Num 23:19
This was uttered by a pagan prophet who was prevented by God from pronouncing curses against Israel. It is truth.
Exodus 32 & 33 tell a compelling account of Israel rebelling against God and God expressing His anger in order to get across to us the level of anger and disappointment He had with them.
In 32:7-24 He says that He wants to destroy them and replace them with Moses and his descendants. But Moses intercedes for Israel and reminds God of His promises to Abraham Isaac and Jacob (AIJ). And finally, "And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people." Exo 32:14
God knew and planned all along that He would not utterly destroy them but fulfill His promises to AIJ.
Chapter 33 begins with God repeating His promise to AIJ. But He also said, "And I will send AN angel before thee;" Exo 33:2 not His own presence. In Exo 33:12-16 Moses intercedes for Israel and this gem, from the lips of The Lord is right in the middle.
"And He said, My Presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest." Exo 33:14
God gives us these instances where He appears to want to vent His wrath on sinners but then changes His mind, withholds justice and bestows unmerited grace. And as you read and study you will see that this is what God intended to do from the very beginning.
Although this promise was for Israel, wandering in the wilderness, Jesus is still the same.
"Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me...Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever." Heb 13:5-6,8
"[6] Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. [7] And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. [8] Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. [9] Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you."
Revelation 21:4 - And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

I ask for prayer for me and my husband to submit ourselves wholly unto God and His Will for our lives. Also I ask for prayer for my 2 young adult children to repent of their sins and come to a saving knowledge of God. I also pray for my grandchildren to grow up in Christ also. Thank you for your prayers in advance.
"Offending God with your thoughts" is quite possibly not sin, unless you dwell on them, leading to committing sin whether in the mind or body. We all have spurious thoughts come to us, & sometimes downright disturbing. It's how we deal with them that matters: do we determine to terminate those thoughts or choose to fuel them or even act upon them?
We can run to the Lord in prayer & commit our folly to Him; or turn to the Word & allow the Spirit to minister God's Message & Words of healing to our minds; or even do as the Apostle Paul suggests in Philippians 4:8,9, to set our minds (our thoughts) on things that are honest, just, pure, etc. Why do this? We are effectively covering over & ridding nasty, disturbing thoughts with thoughts that bring on peace, stability & purity to one's heart - i.e. getting our minds back onto God's track & dwelling on things that will lift up our hearts towards God rather than weigh them down to our hurt.
Please pray for me I am having breathing problems I just want to be normal and do every day things. Please also pray for my father he is addicted to valium please pray that he will find a herbal anxiety medication that's not bad for him.
Please pray for my family and I. Please pray that my mother and brother come unto Christ and be born again and accept him as their savior. Please pray that I have the strength to help them on this journey, and that they have the strength to take it. I want them to go to heaven and accept God's gifts. Please pray.
Alec, neither of those Scriptures you've given apply to your situation. Hebrews 10:2, speaks about the Jews who had to yearly offer sacrifices to obey God's Commands & to avert His Anger upon them. The sacrifices could never remove sin or their guilty consciences & that is why they had to be offered each year. Philippians 4:7, is an encouragement for those given to worry & anxiousness. Paul suggests that they commit their problems to the Lord in prayer with praise to the One Who will deal with their matters.
You've indicated that you're feeling guilty over past sins. And for some reason, unlike the first time, you now can't rid yourself of this dilemma you're in. Usually, in such situations, folk have truly called upon the Lord for salvation or restoration, but haven't let go of their sins, their past life, or the pain they have inflicted upon others. When we come to the Lord for spiritual healing, we do so entirely based on faith in His Word, in His Power to be able to do this, & Promise that it will be "thy faith hath made thee whole". If we're dwelling on past sins, & lets face it, the memory will always be there but should not burden us anymore or bring on guilt, then we really haven't put those sins upon Jesus to bear them & forgive us - rather, inwardly we believe that Jesus has failed to hear our cry, we are not forgiven & we have to continue to live with the mental & spiritual uncertainty & torment.
Take stock of what took place when you came to the Lord. Did you earnestly seek His forgiveness for your many sins? Did you sense in your heart that He had done so according to His Word ( John 3:14-18)? That He will no longer resurrect those forgiven sins & accuse you of them ( Hebrews 10:14-17). Why should we then allow those past sins come back to haunt us? Leave it at the Cross - tell Satan who is taunting you with this, that you're a child of God, covered in Christ's Blood ( James 4:7), that you ARE forgiven. Spend much time in God's Word & pray for healing.
Thank you Glo for your message I Felt so alone until I read about your anxiety and thank you for praying for me and my dad. I will keep you in my prayers :)

Oops! Wasn't quite done! I forgot that Almighty God gave me Blessings of being able to Love so deeply and a person to share that Love with!
I forgot of myself, I am Nothing!
Only God can help me by my prayers & putting the things that give me anxieties into the CARE of my Loving Father - I was anxious because I separated myself from God!
I took back my Will!
I was in such a panic, was so vulnerable, that the dark crept in with it's doubts, tunnel vision that made my heart race & took away my oxygen!
I didn't let go...so I got dragged, shut off from the "Sunshine of the Spirit"!
Uncalm times are the ONLY times when evil can find an entrance; I am more afraid of Spirit unrest, Soul Disturbances ANY Ruffling of my mind, than of any earthquakes or fire!
Of course I wanted to die, than have my Unguarded Soul remain in The Darkness!
So I took a deep breath & prayed to God to forgive my sinful thought, that He was my refuge & my fortress! I want to live to Serve you, Lord, I just want my life as it is NOW to end!
That was my truth, Gabe!
How selfish to want to die before we have done our Utmost Good to serve God, Mankind, the Earth.
Even the smallest change for the Good as We Love & Serve one another creates ripples of Positive God energy all around, Lights up Souls & The Darkness cannot survive the Light & The Word!
Ask Christ to guide you along a new path for He is with you ALL THE TIME!
The Holy Spirit entered my body & I live & will have Eternal life, as will you; CHOOSE LIFE!
Every moment may not be filled with Joy, but they will only be MOMENTS - and you'll forget what even bothered you because you will seek The Light & The Word. Lose your self-centered fear by Serving other Children of God to seek Forgiveness, Love & Service & LIVE in Peace surrounded by light helping a Soul out of The Darkness, to be Saved; just like I just did as a "Channel of His Peace"!
I will pray for your father & for you; to keep strong in Faith!
I, too suffer on occasion from anxieties. They are so bad at time I felt I WAS dying!
I started to ask myself what is bothering me?
What things, one by one is disturbing me so much that I want to die?
One thing at a time I said it out loud & after each I prayed & I KNEW it was going to be OK; God had Blessed me by opening my heart to love another so much, that when they were ill, I feared losing that love!
