    When we pray He already knows what we have need of before we ask So if its comming from our hearts it doesn t take a lot of words to express our hearts and what we need long words will not make the outcome better its whatever isin His will will be done

    Mae Garrett's Matthew Chapter 6 comment about verse Matthew 6:6 note something very interesting here in 6:5 he is referring to a time of negative reward!

    then he explains, a time of solitude followed by a time of positive reward I believe the entrance to the time of reward to be the same, yet not the same exit times, he speaks of a time of the closing of an open door, like the five wise virgins in the gospels Matt 25:10 and also like Rev 3:7 These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;

    Wangatia's Matthew Chapter 6:6
    Closet means ' shutting out any distractions'

    yes there shall be much distraction during the time of the 666 you may not want to come out of your prayers for many weeks no even to answer the door! in the days just before the great reward

    Dubem onyekachi's 6:23 you are correct however understand sinful thoughts chase away the Holy Spirit. 1 John 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
    The believer does not practice sin because God's seed abides in him. And the Spirit will leave is man so much as thinks to sin, so with all hast welcome the Spirit back before entering into sin, then look the other way continuing in the Spirit of the Holy Ghost.

    I think it means a special private place that you choose where you can talk to God just you and him. My special place is my walk in closet in my bedroom. I can tell you from experince he will do just what he said in his word.What you ask in secret he will reward you openly.

    I believe somewhere down the century the prayer was changed. Remember Jesus acknowledge him self as Holy," be holy for i am holy he said." He never says hallowed. Anywhere. Identifying him self or angels.;
  • Shanna on Matthew 6:7 - 10 years ago
    The repetition of memorized prayers does not please God. Rather, our we must speak with our heavenly Father from the heart.

    The eyes feast on wrong images(half-naked women,wrong view about people etc) and sends these junks to the heart and the heart dwells on these wrong images; As a result evil thoughts are formed and corruption takes place.This is how one can be filled with darkness within. Selah

    The lord gave me this scripture a long time ago. For many months I asked him what was his righteousness. He revealed to me that his righteousness is Jesus - so first seek Jesus and then all things will be added unto you

    IN YOUR copy of the Bible, how is Psalm 83:18 translated? The New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures renders this verse: That people may know that you, whose name is Jehovah, you alone are the Most High over all the earth. A number of other Bible translations give similar renderings. However, many translations leave out the name Jehovah, replacing it with such titles as Lord or Eternal. What belongs in this verse? A title or the name Jehovah?

    Gods name in Hebrew letters

    This verse speaks about a name. In the original Hebrew in which much of the Bible was written, a unique personal name appears here. It is spelled יהוה (YHWH) in Hebrew letters. In English, the common rendering of that name is Jehovah. Does that name occur in only one Bible verse? No. It appears in the original text of the Hebrew Scriptures nearly 7,000 times!

    How important is Gods name? Consider the model prayer that Jesus Christ gave. It begins this way: Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified. ( Matthew 6:9) Later, Jesus prayed to God: Father, glorify your name. In response, God spoke from heaven, saying: I both glorified it and will glorify it again. ( John 12:28) Clearly, Gods name is of the utmost importance. If this interests you, feel free to reply to this Bible given truths and I will do my best to get back to whatever question you may have with regards to our Creators devine name...keep on seeking the truth.

    everything should be done in secret with the Lord, healing, alms, prayer, and everything that we do, as the tongue is deceit of all things. let the lord be the doer and us the hearer, as a silent lamb because it is the lord who gave knowlegde, understanding,m wisdom and healing. saying our father prayer demonstrates our forgiveness and seeking god for justice in our justifying. our imitate relationship with god is our treasure of heaven- not man, which is materialism. the lord is our shepherd, who looks after the lost shepherd to bring us together. he provides with his hand so he can feed us to righteousness because he is the only righteous person.

    Your personal relationship with God will guide you on what to say & how long to say such words. In sort, we need to be guidede in the spirit. Its my prayer that we may know Him & the power of His ressurection.

    Verses 9 and 10 instruct us about what should be our priorities in life: Jesus said the number 1 priority should be the sanctifying of God's name. So we should not avoid using God's name, because that would not be following Jesus' example.
    The number 2 priority is God's Kingdom. Jesus spoke often about that Kingdom and what it would accomplish. Do we speak about God's Kingdom? Jesus is the pattern, or example we should follow. Jesus expected to be made King of that Kingdom, so logically, it can't be just a condition of our heart. After putting God's name and the Kingdom first, then we were to pray for our needs, and those of others.
  • Odaba Michael on John 6:26 - 11 years ago
    Many times we tend to seek for Jesus only for fringe benefits not for what He is or what He has come for. This is why Jesus rebuked them for their wrong motive. But seek ye first the kingdom of God,and his righteousness,and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33. Many only remember God when they are need, once the need is solved no more God or prayer. Seek God for your soul to be saved first, then other things come next.

    I love Matthew6:1, I believe that if you know who you are in Christ Jesus ,then you shouldn't have to'showboat' for anyone else. Besides God's Holy Word tell us that whatever we do, do unto The Lord. I love and don't mind helping others out, However ,I don't need to shout it from the roof top that I just did whatever I did for so and so

    Matthew 6:33 is one of my most favored verses. I know when I do not seek Christ first I am like a squirrel in a cage. He gave us His Word for our benefit. It is much softer to follow the Spirit of God. He is IAM and in seeking Him first the day goes much smoother. He is the way truth and light. Amen.

    On Verse 3 concerning giving. Eample tithes do we have to put our tithes in and envelope with our name on the envelope or just give it between you and God.
  • Shay on Matthew 6:33 - 11 years ago
    This means putting Jehovah's standard of what is right and what is wrong ahead of human norms. Even when the majority of people are doing what God disapproves of.
  • David on Matthew 6:3 - 11 years ago
    Christ was instructing His disciples the right way of giving alms. Giving in full view of the public, to be noticed of them, is showing off of one's "righteousness", and that will create pride within. But when no one is watching, except God in Heaven, it will develop a benevolent character of giving. Our motives are what God weighs. It is not really about how much one gives, but about how one gives! That does not mean that we give less. He who loves his neighbor as himself will give liberally.
  • Norman Henderson on Matthew 6 - 11 years ago
    To many People believe that money will solve all of their problems. The word of God reminds us that true treasure is what we do for others with no expectations of something in return. By becoming last we become first. The greatest commandment is to love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, mind, soul, and spirit. The second is like the first, love thy brother as you love thyself, nothing about money (mammon).
  • Peter on Matthew 6:7 - 11 years ago
    Jesus was telling us to speak with God from our hearts in prayer ,thus our words in prayer[dialogue with Him however long we take will be meaningful]flowing from our hearts will be genuine
