Mark Chapter 9 has taught me so many things. 1 Humbleness in that Jesus spoke to his desciples saying whoever desires 2 be first will be last I know God wants us to always remember to put others b4 ourselves n to live a selfless life like he did. 2 To always remember never to hurt or offend these chidren that believe in him and his promises. 3 Jesus teaches that it is out faith that will bring us out of any situation and help us to get through any circumstance in our journey of life God never changes but sometimes our faith does which shouldn 't happen and that 's why we should be humble enough has the dad in the story who prayed "Lord help thou my unbelief ".
HE has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in CHRIST JESUS, faith is currency of bringing them into natural, remember the amount of your currency will determine the amount you will recieve.GOD will not hoard HIS goodies.Amen
If we believe God 's Word with our hearts we can accomplish anything inline with his Will. God is never at fault when we don 't receive what he has for us. Many a times the cause is unbelief.
salt is good GOD IS GOOD. IF THE SALT LOOSE IT 'S SAVOUR IT IS NO GOOD. IF WE LOSE OUR SAVIOUR WHAT ARE WE. JESUS NEVER LIVES US, I WILL BE WITH YOU ALWAYS. DON 'T LEAVE JESUS
Believe is a condition of the heart towards the WORD of GOD. Its as if JESUS was telling the lads father if he can totally trust the WORD of GOD for his sons healing all things are possible to him whose heart will, emotion and intellect is rightly conditioned towards the WORD of GOD.
A beautiful chapter nice to see what others liked about it I love the gentleness that Jesus showed to his followers and even to those in the previous chapter that did not know him I want the same gentleness that others looking on my life can see and know without a doubt who I ve been in contact with in the place of prayer
I believe it means GOD I believe but... my flesh is doubting. I think this is natural of mankind today to feel this atleast somepoint in there life. Just don't ever give up hope in the good lord. Amen.
Also, I suggest we look back to the event. 9 disciples left behind while Jesus took Peter, James and John up the mountain. On there return they find an argument is in full swing. Theologies rendering the authority of the disciples ineffective?
Jesus rebuke is not to be ignored!
Wicked and perverse generation... The word perverse implies that those involved in the attempt to heal and also the pursuing theological debate were more interested in themselves, their reputations and glory than they were in the plight of the boy and his father.
I can hear them judging the boy and the father... Who sinned.
Jesus did not come to condemn but to set the captives free... When the church gets suckered into a cause hunt, we fail to exercise the authority Christ has given.
Judge not lest ye be judged!
Now... Jesus didn't fast... He often prayed, but not for this boy... He didn't upbraid the father for his lack of faith... And Jesus is our example!
The usefulness of fasting is not an increase in our authority, it is useful in reducing us. Getting our religious and theological biases out of the way and turning us towards the work of God... Set the captives free!
salt is faith, fire is the holy spirit: we receive this salt of faith at baptism of Jesus, he was baptize with fire, with the salt of the sea, as the sea will not losses it saltiness we should not also loss our faith in him, the fire in the holy spirit, the holy spirit of fire is the love and grace of God we receive at baptism, we have received also the holy spirit of fire after his death and resurrection at Pentecost as we continue proclaiming the Good news through the inspiration of the Holy spirit.
I think where sin prevails, hell awaits and in the righteous of Christ Jesus the worm of sin is put to death, therefore the fire is quenched through righteousness.
People who condemn (some with vehement, insulting acronyms and derogatory comments) all Biblical translations except the King James Version (KJV) should reconsider many of the sayings of Jesus and the apostles in the New Testament. Here are merely two examples from Jesus:
This is really sad. What does it say to the unbeliever about Christian love and unity? We are supposed to be the Salt of the earth.
What about what Jesus said? "Salt is good: but if the salt haue lost his saltnesse, wherewith will you season it? Haue salt in your selues, and haue peace one with another." ( Mk 9:50, ORIGINAL 1611 KJV) or, for those who believe the "authorized version"- and revised - KJV of 1611/12 is the only truly inspired translation, just replace the "u"s with a "v": "Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltnesse, wherewith will you season it? Have salt in your selves, and have peace one with another."
What happened to the "...have peace with one another?" This is an excellent example of what unbelievers use to rationalize their rejection of Jesus Christ as the One, True God.
Also, it is a prime example of what Jesus said to the religious authorities, Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel. ( Matthew 23:24, KJV, authorized version).
I do believe fasting was in the original manuscript.
I know by own experience in the ministry of deliverance, that fasting is necessary in various cases.
The term fasting is in the Majority Text (Byzantine Text) and in the Textus Receptus and found in the text that is used by the Greek Orthodox Church both in Mathew 17: 21 and Mark 9: 29.
Shadrack St. Mark 9:7 And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him. We as men flesh and bone what joy can a father have more than the time he spends teaching his son?
St. John 17:5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.(before the world was) This is an eternal relationship between a Father and his Son and for this very reason Jesus Christ is the Son; the Word of God.
St. Matt 7:29 For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. Josh. 5:15 And the captain of the LORD'S host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so. This is the Holy Ghost
St. Mark 13:11 But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.
The Godhead is one purpose, one mind; but I believe this is what separates the Father the Way of God, which he teaches too his Son the Word of God, and the Holy Ghost who fulfills the Will of God. Mark 13:32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. Rev. 5:1 And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals. Rev. 5:5 And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof. Rev. 5:7 And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.
Luke 9: 27-36 and Mark 9:1-9 answers Matt. 16:28 in that this was fulfilled six days afterwards where Peter, James, and John ("some standing here") got to witness Jesus coming (Strongs G2064 verb used for BOTH arriving and returning ALSO metaphor for SHOWING ITSELF)i.e Jesus SHOWING HIMSELF/REVEALED IN TRANSFIGURATION with Moses and Elijah on the Mountain.
ALSO, biblically, the meaning of 'the kingdom of G-d' FAR MORE THAN the elementary idea of a physical gov't.
Only the corrupt texts omit fasting or the entire verse: Omitted by some in c/r ( Mt 17:21) but it is in all mss in ( Mk 9:29) except the corrupt "Vatican" mss which comes from Rome ! The omission causes doubt to the integrity of the Scriptures and endangers those who would "take away" from God's Word ( Rev 22:18-19)
Man put an 'if' to the power of God,dats why God put an 'if' to our faith.. We have the key to open the door of possibilities.Jesus insist believe and believe, coz every person has a doubt..
My respond to Val's Mark Chapter 9 comment on 9/07/2013, 9:45pm: In 2 Corinthians 4:18 it says, "the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal". So when we talk about life in heaven then we mean "life eternal" and when we talk about death in hell then we mean "everlasting punishment". In Matthew 25:46 There are people who will go to life eternal but other people will go to everlasting punishment. Even in Daniel 12:2 it says, some shall awake to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. When we talk about fire where sinners are to be cast into we mean "everlasting fire" as it is written in Matthew 18:8. It is the same fire being mentioned in Jude 1:7 called "eternal fire" where sinners shall suffer. This kind of suffering is "eternal damnation" as it is written in Mark 3:29 and that is none other than "damnation of hell" which is written in Matthew 23:33. They that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation as it is written in John 5:29. Therefore this sinners shall be burned "eternally".
The fires of hell are future tense... Set after the second coming. Why would God give Hitler a glorified body... Only to BURN it up later??? No one burns eternally... But will burn up... Just as satan will one day! "They shall be ashes under your feet" is prophesied for the Earth made new. Elijah, btw, was translated & went up in a chariot - he never saw death. Moses was resurrected ...& will never see death again! The two witnesses of Revelation are the witnesses of scripture- Old & New Testament ...& looking at the world's condition, they are already starting to be "killed!" Revelation spoke figurative of the witnesses! Justanotherpointofviewtoconsider:-)
The fires of hell are real. Hell was prepared by God for Satan and his angels. All those that refuse to accept the atoning blood of Jesus in payment of their sins are also included in the same fate. When Christians die they receive a glorified body. An unsaved person also receives a glorified, eternal body when they die. After the great white throne judgment, at the end of the millennium, the unsaved will be cast into the lake of fire with Satan....forever. I believe each person in hell will be ***igned some kind of worm that also eats the flesh of the glorified body for eternity. Selah... think about that Ask Jesus into Your heart and life. He will come in and do something special with your life.
Who is it that is now preaching the return of Jesus? Christians. The spirit of Elias returned in John the Baptist and he was not recognised. If Moses also returns, it will also be in spirit. Two candlesticks and two olive trees. Two spirits and two church bodies? Yet, the dead will also awake and be seen: some to everlasting life and others to everlasting shame and contempt. The person who said that fasting should not be mentioned in the verse about healing the child treats the bible as something he can bend to his will like the academics do when they deny it's truth. Rather than doubt it, pray to God to understand it.
Prayer is the key to open doors, solution to our problems. when Jesus was on earth he told his diciples that graet mircles can happen through prayer Mark 9:29
I think some translations left the word "fasting"out because it didn't belong in the verse.
Mathew 17:21 was also left out entirely by some translations or wasn't noted in italicize as being added for the same reason.
Jesus told the disciples it was because of their little faith that they couldn't cast out the spirit not because they didn't fast.In fact Jesus is not going to scold the disciple for something he didn't require them to do. Mat 9:14 Then come to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not? Mat 9:15 And Jesus said unto them, Can the sons of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then will they fast.
i am so sad to see that some versions ommitt the word, *fasting*,....this was extreemly important, along with prayer... or Jesus would not have said it. we are not to take away anything from the Bible.
Well I am a believer and believe that my savior JESUS Christ says it will be always true I believe him with all my heart, soul and strength. Hope apostle Mark stays with me tonight in prayer to bless me, my children Jacob and Rachael and also my wife Dasamma. Thank you Philip.
