Ye are the Salt of the earth! If the Salt becomes tasteless it is good for nothing but to be cast out and trampled upon by men. When the Salt is no longer able to keep things from spoiling, then everything gets rotten; and it is the fault of the useless salt! What happened in the days before the flood was precisely that! The Salt had lost its savor by assimilating into the world, and falling away.

Verse 50~Salt can be used to preserve and enhance food. We should enhance others by kind words and actions.

"And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea." The Lord has COMMANDED us to be of one mind and to all speak the same things, all in One Spirit! When we speak about the things of the Lord we must do so in love and for One end; as WE also must be saved, and FIRST give account.
  • Bruce on Mark 9 - 7 years ago
Bob:We Do not all have The Spirit within us. We only receive The Spirit when we receive Salvation then we are Baptized with The Holy Ghost: Mark 1:8, Matthew 3:11
  • Robert on Mark 9 - 7 years ago
We all have the Spirit in us and if we want the Spirit to move us to begin to learn the Lords loving healing everlasting life he so freely offers. A good place to start is with Romans to open our eyes and ears.
Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of GOD. THERE ARE NO SHORTCUTS. The living word of God will instruct you.
  • A disciple on Mark 9 - 7 years ago
Bruce; you said not too long ago, "No One comes to Christ until The Father Calls." Is there a time when God does not call; that men could excuse themselves for continuing in sins? Psalm 50:1 says, "The mighty God, even the LORD, hath spoken, and called the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof." All they who are of the truth will hear Jesus' voice, through the WORD preached!
  • A disciple on Mark 9 - 7 years ago
The word translated into the English, 'fool,' is literally 'moron' in the Greek. Jesus called the hypocrites, morons and blind. Jesus warned us all, that if we heard His words and didn't do them, we would be likened to a stupid man who without a foundation built his house on the sand. There is a right usage of words and names and the kinds of actions people take, and the things they believe.
  • Bruce on Mark 9 - 7 years ago
I Believe The Father will Call Everyone at least once or some more. Why do you speak Evil of The Way of Salvation, and Calling People Morons? John 6:44 Says No One Comes to Christ until The Father Calls (a Tug on The Heart) You call that a False Gospel. The Pharisees also spoke Evil. Your Post say you know The Bible but need Salvation. Most are Saved by The Foolishness of Preaching. Last Call?
  • A disciple on Mark 9 - 7 years ago
Bruce; Last Call! If any preach ANY OTHER gospel let him be accursed! The Lord Jesus Christ said, "Not every one that says unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father which is in heaven." And then He goes on to say, that it is in the doing of "THESE MY WORDS" that prove us to be wise unto salvation, or morons who lose everything and perish!
  • A disciple on Mark 9 - 7 years ago
How does one know the Scriptures, and teach the meaning of our Salvation in Jesus Christ having come in the flesh, according to the Scriptures; and not be saved and have the Holy Spirit? No one can say Jesus is Lord without the Holy Spirit. He that is not against us, is on our part. But there is no hope of salvation, or true foundation in Christ without knowing and obeying "ALL THESE HIS WORDS."
  • Bruce on Mark 9 - 7 years ago
Many know The Bible, they can post many Scriptures. Preachers NOT Knowing The Savior, preach all through The Bible and don't know how to be Saved. Most in his flock follow him down a dark road. / How long will it take for one to be Saved studying The Bible, Days,Weeks,Months? Telling The Lost How to be Saved,The Father Calls, they can ask forgiveness not Knowing One Word of The Bible. Is He Tugging?
  • A disciple on Mark 9 - 7 years ago
Bruce; Why are you so obstinate about holding on to your WRONG ideas? You choose watered down language and human thinking to make it more comfortable for the sinner, but betray the extreme seriousness and peril of going to hell, that he is in! This adding to a misguided notion that one doesn't need to know the Word to be saved, is teaching people to despise the Scriptures! John 15:3; Romans 10:14
  • Bruce on Malachi 4 - 7 years ago
Elijah has already come. He was John The Baptist: Matthew 17:11-13. And they done unto him whatsoever they listed, as it is written of him. Mark 9:11-13.
  • Bruce on Mark 9 - 7 years ago
Marcus: Were does it say you have to be a Bible Scholar or Understand The Bible? To be Saved. Fiad Corrrst You have to be Saved. Then The Spirit moves in. He Will Teach you as you Study. Are you a new Believer? Or do you need to be Saved. Is The Father Tugging on Your Heart: John 6:44. No One comes to Christ until The Father Calls. Revelation 1:5, Mark 1:8, 2Corinthians 5:17
  • Marcus on Mark 9 - 7 years ago
comment on one day ago!!! yes you do need to understand god's word. if you can't read that's one thing ! not reading is another especially without understanding. ask and it shall be given... seek and you shall find(action on your part) knock and the door will be opened.
  • Bruce on Mark 9 - 7 years ago
You're very Wrong! No one needs to Know One Word of The Bible to be Saved. A Believe telling The Way of Salvation,The Father Will Tug on Their Heart: John6:44. Never seeing a Church or Bible They can Ask Forgiveness. Without Knowing One Word They Will be:Washed,Baptized with The Holy Ghost. They Will be Changed. Sealed for The Day of Redemption. Those who can't Read or simpleminded can be Saved.
  • A disciple on Mark 9 - 7 years ago
Who is there reading these things and still says that we don't need to be a Bible Scholar to be saved? Just in the few minutes reading this chapter we are shown volumes in the words and doings of our Lord Jesus Christ that NOTHING in the world can ever begin to teach us! The Eternal Power and Glory of Christ; the necessity, nature and power of religion; the course in life of love that God demands!
  • A disciple on Mark 9 - 7 years ago
Brother Bruce how right you are! You know in Romans 1:18-32; how the Spirit describes the disgusting moral ruin of those who will not have anything to do with knowing the Lord, or any truth? That so describes the unbelievably evil kind of people we see in the News every day here. I can remember when I was first saved, and started learning about the "end times;" its so worse than I ever imagined.
  • Bruce on Mark 9 - 7 years ago
How will He answer: Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity: The USA is turning Darker then The World: Only by Accepting The Way of Salvation, by The Blood of The Lamb is there any Hope: No one comes to Christ until: John 6:44/ ask Forgiveness, you will be Washed by The Blood of The Lamb,Baptized with The Holy Ghost: Revelation 1:5, Mark 1:8 / You will be Changed. 2Corinthians 5:17
  • A disciple - 7 years ago
Mark 9:38 (finally); IF we were all obedient to the ONE and SAME Spirit of the Lord; all humble-minded and full of love, like those who are forgiven much; all in the SAME SCRIPTURES, and speaking the SAME THINGS; there would be no divisions, cliques, denominations, heresies, etc.. The point that the Lord Jesus makes so glaringly clear in this Chapter is that all these things will be accounted for!
  • A disciple - 7 years ago
Mark 9:38 (cont.); What does the Lord Jesus say about the many divisions and separations, when His commandment was explicitly, Love one another as I have loved you; and, One is your Master, Christ; and ALL YOU ARE BRETHREN? Here's a clue: If your eye or hand or foot cause you to sin; (i.e. to offend one of these little ones); better to enter life one-eyed, maimed or halt than be cast into Gehenna!

"..Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he follows not us: and we forbade him, because he follows not us. But Jesus said, Forbid him not.." Do you ever wonder where all those Church Denominations came from? or how that in the beginning they were without questioning, all of one accord, and one mind, and one heart knit together? How is the Lord going to answer this when He comes?
  • Peter A. Okebukola on Mark 9 - 7 years ago
At the Name of Jesus every knee shall bow. Christ reminds us in this chapter that if we call on Him, He will answer and at the mention of His Name, we can do what ordinarily, we are unable to do.

Mark 9:14- This is my beloved Son, hear ye Him.
  • A disciple on Mark 9 - 7 years ago
"And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief." Unbelief is a moral error; not a weakness! Where in the whole Bible did you ever read, that God sympathized with, or "understood" their stubbornness and disobedience? Feeling pain, and seeing and experiencing apparent contradictions of evil; does not change the truth of the LORD.
  • Breeze on Mark 9 - 7 years ago
Just read this the other day in my devotions. It's good to be encouraged. Do we believe God is willing and able? This is most certainly where I struggle, which is ironic when we call oursleves "believers." But faith can be grown if we act on what we do believe
  • Geraldine Bulos on Mark 9 - 7 years ago
Yes, by faith God can move mountains...

But the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit. Little children and soldiers in Christ Jesus, Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour.
