Thank you Brother Carleton, now I understand what you are asking or saying.

Where do we as bearers of light start. We can not TRULY start anywhere until we ourselves know TRUTH.

Matthew 23:15 Woe unto you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him two fold more the child of hell than yourselves.

Mark 8:15 And he charged them saying, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and the leaven of Herod.

Galatians 5:9 A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.

Our churches send out men that have no spiritual knowledge and make converts like themselves, converts with no spiritual knowledge.

We as light bearers are to start with those God places in our path. If someone ask you for money give it to them, with no expectations. If they are hunger fed them, with no expectations, if they steal you coat give them also your cloak, with no expectations, if they physically abuse you lift not your hand, if they verbally abuse you lift not your voice.

People see more than they hear.

Doing these things on a day to day basis will cause them to ASK concerning your actions, now you can plant a SEED, and that may be all you ever do, but God will CAUSE that seed to be watered by someone else.

Ephesians 1:10 That in the dispensation of the FULNESS OF TIMES (more than the lifespan we live) he might gather together IN ONE all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth, IN HIM.

My two grandmothers were exact opposites of each other, one PREACHED heaven and hell to me on a daily basis, the other never said a word but live a visible life of Christ, guess who impacted my life the most.

Contend for the faith that once delivered to the saints is different than having faith ?

E.g. I have faith that if I apply myself diligently

To bible study that I will find the bright faith.

Now with that being said I also have to have faith to study the right bible . For not all who believe do not as the scripture hath said

Are you a born-again Christian? That is, have you confessed your sins, repented, and asked Jesus Christ to come into your heart? Because having Jesus Christ as your personal Savior is the most important and the thing you can ever possess. Mark 8:36 "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?" What a pity it would be for you to get 1 Trillion dollars each day and die without Christ and go to hell.

But you can be saved. God loves you. Jeremiah 1:5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you." He sent His only Son to die for you John 3:16-18 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." But it's not enough to believe in your head. You must believe in your heart. Romans 10:9-10 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Confess your sins to Jesus Christ, repent, and believe in your heart that he has saved you. He will give you a new heart and a new life in Him. Ezekiel 36:26 "A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh." May God bless you.

Brother S Spencer, in your studies, would you please, find the Hebrew word that has been translated to the word Lucifer and see how it is defined in other scriptures. Man's belief that Lucifer was perfect contradicts other scriptures. If this is the only place that word is translated Lucifer? If it has another meaning, then maybe Lucifer was not perfect.

Job 26:13 By his SPIRIT he hath garnished the heavens, his hand hath FORMED (MADE) the crooked serpent.

Isaiah 27:1 In that day (TODAY) the LORD with sore and great and strong sword (THE WORD) shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and shall SLAY (kill by the word of God) the dragon that is in the sea (the sea represents us, Revelation 17:15). (We die daily by the word of God).

1 John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil (flesh); for the devil (flesh) committeth sin from the BEGINNING (not perfect and fell). For this purpose the Son of God was manifest, that he (SPIRIT) might destroy the works of the devil (FLESH).

From the (BEGINNING); Adam and all of us were FORMED (MADE) FLESH out of dust.

1 Corinthians 2:6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect (mature): yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the PRINCES OF THIS WORLD, that come to nought:

Ephesians 2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world (flesh), according to the PRINCE of the Power of the Air (flesh), the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience (flesh).

Mark 8:33 ....he rebuked Peter, saying, get thee behind me, Satan....

Peter was (flesh) not yet BORN AGAIN of the SPIRIT.

Matthew 4:1 Then Jesus was led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil (flesh).

Jesus was already BORN OF SPIRIT so the devil (flesh) had no power over him.

1 Corinthians 15:46 Howbeit that which was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural (flesh); and afterwards that which is spiritual.

Food for thought; the Spirit reveals.

    Mark 8:19

When I brake the five loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? They say unto him, Twelve.

    Matthew 16:9

Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

    Mark 6:44

And they that did eat of the loaves were about five thousand men.

Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let US (plural) make man in OUR (not my) image, after OUR likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

John 17:21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in US: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. (22) And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as WE are one:

Matthew 27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

Luke 1:30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.

    (31) And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a SON, and shalt call his name JESUS.

    (32) He shall be great, and shall be called the SON of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

John 12:26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father (not Joseph) honour. (27) Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.

Mark 10:40 But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is NOT MINE to give; but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared.

One lesson Jesus may be teaching is patience for others that don't see the details as clearly as you. Those whom Christ has called sometimes have a distorted view of Christ and others, but be patient with them don't discount them God is not through with them. Christ is still working with them. His work is not finished yet. Pray for them that God's mercy and grace lead them to repentance by faith and they would see the wonderful riches of God's kingdom. That they would experience the fullness of a Christlike life.
  • Chris - In Reply on Luke 9:21 - 3 years ago
In common understanding of the word, it means 'to express a sharp, stern disapproval; to reprove or reprimand'.

The word doesn't appear in Luke 9:21, so I'll give some other Scriptures that show various uses of the word:

    a. Matthew 8:26: Jesus gave out a clear command to the elements.

    b. Matthew 17:18: Jesus issued a Divine authoritative Command against the Devil.

    c. Luke 9:55: Jesus was stern & gave a strong correction to the disciples' ignorance & presumption.

    d. Mark 8:33: Jesus scolded Peter (at least the spirit working in & through him), for challenging the mission that Jesus was on. Peter had (in verse 32) rebuked (challenged) Jesus on that point.

So these few examples might show you how the word 'rebuke' was being used during Jesus' Ministry.

Mark 8:38, "Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels."

Those words of Jesus certainly mean, as you suggest, to deny Christ. But it could also mean that, in the midst of a Christ-rejecting people, we recoil from the Truth, whether we choose to keep quiet or even speak words that are so diluted so as to not offend anyone. We live in a World where we're being told that it's not right to offend anyone's person or beliefs. And this is correct, but when we then altogether refuse to speak up (in love & concern) for what is right & ordained in God's Word, then there is little difference to the one who is outwardly a denier of Christ in the midst of testing or persecution.

Not all Christians can be of the calibre of standing & preaching the Gospel to a crowd, but then again, most would rather keep their 'faith' private, sometimes so private that another person hardly notices that any difference. I'm retired now, but whenever I applied for a job earlier & the opportunity was there, I made sure that I stated that I was a Christian & adhered to biblical values & that my work ethic is based on my faith. Not that my position in Christ should have made any difference to the prospective employer, but I believed that the foundation was laid from the beginning, so any other action or event subsequent to it, could be seen as a result of my faith which was real & active. Of course, I too was under their scrutiny to live the Christian life before them. It's always a good policy to let others know of your new life in Christ, even in passing, for no other reason that to give you the incentive & boldness to live your life out, without reservation, before men.

  • TENTH GENERATIONS - In Reply on Deuteronomy 23:3 - 4 years ago
    Generations, Tenth

    Deuteronomy 23:3

An Ammonite or Moabite shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to their TENTH generation shall they not enter into the congregation of the LORD for ever:

    Deuteronomy 23:2

A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to his TENTH generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the LORD.

    [a non-covenant believer]

    Mark 8:12

And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, Why doth this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation.

Malachi 4:6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

    Isaiah 41:4

Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the first, and with the last; I am he.

    Isaiah 58:12

And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.

    Matthew 1:17

So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.

In the "time of Abraham a generation was an hundred years, thus: Gen." "15:16, "In the fourth generation" = in four hundred years (comp." verse 13 and Ex. 12:40). In Deut. 1:35 and 2:14 a generation is a period of thirty-eight years.

What Jesus spoke of in Mark 4:11,12 is an echo of what God said to Isaiah in Isaiah 6:8-11. In that portion, Isaiah actually had to tell the people that they would not understand God's message to them as an indictment to the stubbornness of their hearts.

Jesus gives the same warning to those living during His times, as they too were hardly ready to receive great spiritual Truths when they had to first realize that 'indeed, the Messiah of God had come amongst them'. So it was through parables, using illustrations that the people could easily understand, that people would be drawn to listen as well as the many miracles He performed in their sight.

Many did believe that Jesus was the coming Christ as a result of this, but it was only after the Cross that Jesus' Words could be understood for the wisdom that was contained in them. However, to His disciples, they were given special insight, and even here, we often sense that they too were sometimes 'hard of hearing' & wondered as to the words of Jesus. For one such example, see Mark 8:14-16. But the Blessed Teacher was there to give them Light, drawing them closer to fully understanding Who He was & the purpose of His Coming.

This is literally mansions the Lord Jesus is talking about. Jesus is talking here. He even said "if it were not so, I would have told you." God is always true with His word and God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfil? - Number 23:19

When the Lord says I am free then I am free. For He says, "So if the Son sets you free you will be free indeed." - John 8:36

That's why Paul says, "In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace." - Ephesians 1:7

Why can't we believe a God who chose to die for the sins of many so we can attain the life everlasting? It could have been us who should be on that cross but no. Because of His richness in grace and mercy "God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us". - Romans 5:8

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord - Romans 6:23

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us that we might become the righteousness of God in Him - 2 Corinthians 5:21

God chose to love us even we are unlovable. We are wretched people and we need a saviour cause there is no good in us; No one is righteous, no! not one. - Romans 3:10

What shall it profit me if I gained the whole world and lose my own soul? - Mark 8:36

It is better for me to be in His courts than a thousand anywhere else! I would rather be a gatekeeper in the house of my God than live the good life in the homes of the wicked - Psalms 84:10

For it is appointed for men, us, to die once but after this is judgment.

Death is real. Hell is real.

That's why God sent Jesus once and for all to die for many once. He is not going to do it again.

That is why we need a Saviour. We can only be saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.

Are you ready to receive Him?

Comments by Alex on Mark 8 v 22 KJV The blind man was symbolic of the Church that cd not see clealry under the 1st anointing, (Early CHURCH DOCTRINE) answers to the 1st anointing, Jesus spat ( his word ) in the blindmans eyes but he saw men as trees walking impling fruitless trees that are not grounded in the living word put out no fruit. Trees cannot be fruit bearing unless they are grounded ,Thats the early CHURCH they cd not see clearly,Even Paul said we see like thru a glass Darkly. We prophecy in part and we know in part etc But when that which is PERFECT is come, the 2 nd anointing, the 2 nd coming, the opening of the book resulting in a birth of CHRIST IN US, WHICH ANSWERS TO THE 2 ND WINE WAS THE BEST WINE. Early CHURCH doctrine was not the best wine spritually speaking.Thats y God found fault with the 7 churches in ASIA,the book had not been opened just yet,Thats y Paul said when that which is PERFECT is come that which is done in part will be done away with. The Church needs that 2 nd Anointing. thats y there are a zillion different Churches,on every corner they cannot see clearly under early Church doctrine, thus its all confusion. They have turned to money,Riches and wealth the gift of God there Doctine. At pentecost they were all intoxicated in the SPIRIT BUT THEY RAN OUTA OF THAT WINE,the best wine does not come till the 3 rd day, we are just beginning the 3 rd day now. A day being a 1000 yrs. When Jesus took the blindman by his hand and led him outta of the city means the blindman was symbolic of the early church that cd not see clearly under the 1st anointing,( early church doctrine). The best doctrine is the book in the right hand of the father that has not been opened just yet. The 2 nd wine,That image in Dan. 2 was all in Parts but it had to be destroyed,Paul said when that which is Perfect is come that which is done in Parts will be done away with. Thats y there are a zillion different Churches no body can see clearly under early CHURCH DOCTRINE.

After reading Earl's reply, Christ does things for mankind ,while at the same time the house of Israel. How his work and word are eternal . How the book of revelation also is a work in progress, now and forever until Christ returns! Too comprehend His return and how and when, are indeed are what we all look for! It will happen with some of us sooner than others. When our flesh gives up the ghost we will most certainly see Him as He is, according to the spirit that lives in us! The scripture is the light of the truths we who hope in Him speak! the voice of angels.

"For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace". Christ enters Jerusalem, enters the temple, and begins his final act of cleansing it. Throwing out money changers, that bought and sold, that made His house a house of merchandise. Not unlike the cleansing that takes place when we open the door to the temple of our hearts. Christ comes in and takes His place eliminating all sin that is within us! The scribes and pharisees ask Christ by what authority He does these things? Christ reminds them of John the Baptist! Christ asks them about The baptism of John, if it were of heaven or of men? How wonderful is His word, He reminds us of the baptism of John! While he convicts the leaders of the church of sin,at the same time reminding us of our baptism that it comes from heaven and not of men!

Fred, may the Holy Spirit grace us with his understanding, when the (children of the resurrection) physical body dies our spirit (now one with the Spirit of God through the work of Christ) in the twinkle of an eye we (corruptible) shall put on Christ (incorruption), and this mortal (us) shall put on Christ (immortality). I Timothy 6:16 Who (Christ) only hath immortality, dwelling in the light (God)...... Luke 20:35-36 But they (children of the resurrection) which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that (Spirit) world, and the resurrection from the dead....(vs) 36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection. Psalms 103:20 Bless the Lord, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word. Psalms 104:4 Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire. Hebrews 1:14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation? Psalms 149:6-9 Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two edge sword in their hand; (vs) 7 To execute vengeance upon the heathen (nations), and punishments upon the people; (vs) 9 To execute upon them the judgement written, this honour have all his saints.... Revelation 14:6 And I say another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on earth ( Revelation 20:7 And when the thousand years (church age) are expired, (the children of) Satan shall be loosed out of his (Gods) prison (the grave, the wages of sin is death), and to every nation, and kindred and tongue and people. Matthew 13:33 And the kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven (Spirit of God) which a woman ( Galatians 4:26 new, spiritual Jerusalem the mother of us all) took and hid in three measures of meal (us, the meat offering to God), till the whole (lump, all mankind) was leavened (by the Spirit of God).

From my observations, and I could be wrong, it may be because of the age of the Thread, or that the Thread itself has become too long. You've probably noticed how the latest comments being attached get narrower in appearance. Once I had to read a comment with one word on each line! So, I think 'locking' Threads is a reasonable thing to do & after all, a person can just start a new Comment since a lot of our comments disappear into antiquity very soon.

Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. Looking through a glass darkly would not present the past, Paul is speaking of the future, since we are talking about the salvation of man ,and the kingdom of God. One Lord, one faith, one baptism. When our Lord died on the cross it was one time only, not 2. The redemption for mankind ,for the world 1 Time! This was the hope of Abraham ,Isaac, Jacob. David, the promise that you say is clouded? This anointing we receive, is his shed blood! 1 time for the sins of the world.

The spiritual kingdom is the kingdom Christ established on earth after Christ resurrection. The church are those that teach and believe that he will fulfil his word when He returns for his church. His "bride. All through the gospel we see evidence that his own received him not. I wonder if Christ preferred to be alone with this blind man since he was brought unto him, knowing once that they maybe trying to deceive him into there own craftiness? Not unlike today who deny him, even those of the "nation" of Israel. There are always those who want to disclaim Him, even in the church of our own nation. It is a good interpretation nevertheless. God is saving us all the time. Even before our very own eyes!
