It is rare when a paragraph of doctrine is repeated as was those who trust in riches cannot follow Jesus in the way. Look and see those on the world stage who corruptly seek after riches and how they are diminished spiritually, even given over to the Devil. Have you eyes to see, ears to hear. To follow Jesus in the way requires a single mindedness that does not allow wavering, nor coveting
Having never come from a rich family, or any kind of upbringing that would push me to pursue riches; I've always seen through it to a great extent...it has no pull with me! Even putting that type of thing on a level of "worldliness in general" doesn't it make you feel like you're drying up inside and your heart dead to the Lord and spiritual things and holiness and FAITH? I'd avoid those thoughts!
"And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him." Scrutinizing everyone but themselves, debating and contending about things that are NOTHING to be debated, putting the Lord to the test with their incessant contradiction and hostility; men who take this course are without excuse and are nothing hidden from God! The hypocrite belies himself!
Marriage is a wonderful blessing and kindness from God. How dreadful for a man to be alone in the world, and a woman to have no man to be his companion and help build his house! But no one seems to give us the kind of advice and deep insight we need to build a successful Marriage relationship. It takes love, first and always! And it takes humility and honesty, and not being too proud to learn! :)
Thier are more places in the Bible that talks about this and if the partner does thier part in a marriage very seldom will the other leave, but most want to only go have way in a marriage and think about them selves you have to give it 100% and don't think about yourself. What did Jesus do did he think about himself or others???
To me i belive the word of God,but these word of God let us to instead u will leave ur wife went out side u better bring her in and married again.can this been committing adultery.
Kathleen; The Lord was talking about the ones leaving; NOT the one who was betrayed! "If the unbelieving depart, let them depart; a brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases." As for the adulterer or adulteress; when they sin and break the Marriage Bond, and then go get someone else; they then cause that one to commit adultery by being with them. God judges righteous in all things!
according to mark 10:12. What if the woman has proof she did nothing to make her ex husband commit adultery, why then is she commiting adultery by remarrying?
John; If one leaves his wife and children to fornicate, then he has broken the marriage bond and is the same as dead: so the wife who was betrayed is free if she wants to marry another. Meanwhile the man who sinned against his wife and children should repent! If he can be reconciled to his family he should try; or stay unmarried. I won't say if he can marry again: he first needs to be a saved man!
I am fully aware of getting married if your spouse dies but I'm talking about fornication it doesn't tell you that the other is free to marry another person if one of them fornicates, that person is also wrong if they remarry
Hi John; The verse you ask about is about getting divorced. The one whose spouse has passed away is free to marry again. As a Christian we are only allowed to marry "in the Lord" that is, to another believer. If one of the spouses fornicates, then the bond is broken the same as by death. There is also the case of an unbelieving spouse leaving: and the brother or sister is not in bondage in that.
I lost my wife a year ago do to cancer and have met different people in the mean time and had conservation regarding marriage and divorce and in verse 11and12 it is very clear to me. Any comments
Mark 10:21 Then Jesus beholding him LOVED him. John14:21 He that hath my commandments and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me and he that loveth me shall be LOVED of my Father and I will LOVE, him and will manifest myself to him.
verses 42-45, contrast these with Acts 6:2. The twelve really messed up here. They reverted back to their old way of thinking and not only missed out on a blessing, but set a standard and a precedent that has lived on to modern times. This precedent is WRONG! To be the greatest of all you MUST be the servant of all. These are the words of Jesus.
Verses 21 and 22: The rich young man placed a greater importance on material things than being a follower of Christ. He missed out on spiritual blessings because he had too great of an attachment to material things.
It is easy to get distracted by everyday events. We are reminded of going back to the source of our strength which is our Lord Jesus. In a glimpse of an eye, God can change anything.
Merlene We take the word of God at its first value The oil is anointing oil If you do go to church do as the word of God says in verses 14-15 With God everything is possible just approach Him with your heart know that He is and He is the regarder of all those who deligently seek Him I want to boost your faith as you need a miracle It's the will of God to heal us Mark 10:46-52 Matt 8:1-3; 15:21-28
BSP says above, "the different positions in heaven were not his to give." It was not the positions in heaven that were at stake. This is why Jesus told them, "Ye know not what ye ask..." It was the positions on the crosses on either side of the crucified Jesus that was "given to them for whom it is prepared." James and John were unwittingly asking to be crucified with Jesus "in His glory".
(42-45) The Times of the Gentiles, and of their form of Dominion over the earth, is coming to its completion and demise: the things that have so deeply held the minds and souls of men in darkness and bondage and hostile opposition to the Lord; are about to be taken away for ever, by the Coming of our Lord and Saviour. It is important that we know the difference between His Spirit and the world's.
V. 32 - "........and Jesus went before them .........." He always goes before us - IF we are walking with Him in HIS truth. He went before us in persecutions even he was crucified. He went before us in hunger, in cold, heat, poverty (no where to live). He went before us in it all - as our example, along with loving the sinner, yet hating the sin, in forgiveness, in WITNESSING.
The rich young ruler; I always feel sorry for him when I read his story. He was so-o-o close. He 'tho't he loved God because he kept all the law (this was the O.T. time, even WE call the 4 gospels the 'N.T.'); a testament cannot be of force until the testator is dead. The N.T. began in Acts ch. 2 with the beginning of the ch. age.
Jesus said that a spouse who breaks the marriage covenant has adulterated that covenant (made it unfit for its original purpose). The marriage covenant is no longer valid. The spouse who did not break the covenant becomes a free agent, and may divorce and remarry without sinning. The Bible Trivia question in the right column about divorce and remarriage is incorrect.
In verse 40 Jesus said the different positions in heaven were not his to give. This right belonged to God to put into place different ones as He sees fit.
"Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing you lack..." How incredibly kind and forgiving and patient the Lord Jesus is! Yet He doesn't candy-coat His words, or talk down to anyone; but always speaks straight and true, like only God can! How many times does He say, "You shall not be as the hypocrites;" and yet so many Christians think that some method or outward show is it!
Tell me...can one HAVE riches, and yet not TRUST in riches? How hard a thing that would seem to accomplish!
