For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
But if ye forgive NOT men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Matthew 18:21-22
Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?
Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until SEVENTY times SEVEN.
Luke 6:37
Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and you shall be forgiven:
Ephesians 4:32
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
Ephesians Chapter 4:26-27
Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
Neither give place to the DEVIL.
Colossians 3:13 - Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, you also do.
Comment by Mishael: when we don't forgive others, Satan accuses us before the Throne of God, until we do forgive.
Taking Communion in unforgiveness, causes us to be unworthy to receive the blessing. We even must forgive ourselves. Every day till it takes root in our heart. How many years are you willing to live with this self-condemnation?
Wipe your heart, and in time your mind will follow.

BSP- I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your comments. I am on day 301 of my Bible Reading in a Year journey and have seen and enjoyed your comments throughout this entire time. I see your comments from not only days or weeks ago but also from several years past. Your comments are not only inspiring but also remind me that my new walk with Christ is ongoing and never ending. God Bless You my new friend!
Bible doesn't condone slavery. Just because it doesn't address it specifically doesn't mean God allows it. It would be a logical fallacy to make such an assumption. The Bible doesn't specifically say that taking illegal drugs is a sin, like meth, cocaine, heroin, weed. Does that mean it condones it or is ok? No. It instead says your body is a holy temple. The Bible also doesn't say lying is wrong or a sin. Does that mean it's ok to lie? No. It says other places to not bear false witness. Lying is a sin. Colossians 3:9, for example. Watching pornography is obviously a sin, but the Bible doesn't say that specifically is a sin. It instead says all lust is sin. But Jesus took it a step further and said if you even look at a woman in the wrong way you're guilty of the sin. There are many other sins like this that aren't directly addressed, but is clear that it's a sin when looking at the context of all the verses. In many cases the Bible is even more restrictive than some assume.
So, if someone is enslaved and held captive beyond their will, it's obvious it's a sin, because of the mountain of verses showing context, like love your neighbor as yourself, and don't seek vengance- turn the other cheek. Matthew 5:43-48. It even takes it a step further and says to be kind to your enemy, pray for them, help others, and give to those who ask. Luke 6:30-36. There are other indications from the Bible that slavery is a sin as well. The mosaic law of the Israelites was to put someone to death for attempting to trade slaves: Exodus 21:16. In 1 Timothy 1:8-10 it lists 'menstealers' (slave-traders) along with other sins.
Romans 13:7-10. The Bible summarizes the commands as not every sin will be perfectly or specifically addressed, but just love one another. It says love is the fulfilling of the law.
I already explained how slavery is different than servitude common in Bible.
Given the mountain of scripture evidence, it would seem dishonest to claim the Bible says slavery is ok.
Patti, How blessed we are to know the love of Christ. Coming to this knowledge in a thankless world can only come from above. The power of the holy spirit in our lives is his grace towards us found in the shed blood of Him you speak of! God bless you in in your journey, while always keeping your eyes and hearing in the cross!
How quiet the world is before the true outcome that is going to happen. Where is the Love of others from their heart as before. I wish l knew. Their minds on their problems or their greed. Waxed cold in these days. Hurting of kids and animals. Selfish love of self. Uncaring feelings of others. Poor Jesus how He must of felt when He walked this Earth. He wanted the best...but got the worse of mankind. Always fighting Satan. Going to the Father for help. He carried on in His days serving others. So strong in His Love for others before His self. Do you know the Strength of True Love when it comes to you? I do..
Jesus showed me long ago...l will never forget it....NEVER!!!
5:3 Happy are the POOR - In the following discourse there is, A sweet invitation to true holiness and happiness, ver. 3 - 12. Matt 5:3-12. A persuasive to impart it to others, ver. 13 - 16. Matt 5:13-16. A description of true Christian holiness, ver. 17; chap.v7:12, Matt 5:17; Matt 7:12. (in which it is easy to observe, the latter part exactly answers the former.) The conclusion: giving a sure mark of the true way, warning against false prophets, exhorting to follow after holiness.
The POOR in spirit - They who are unfeignedly penitent, they who are truly convinced of sin; who see and feel the state they are in by nature, being deeply sensible of their sinfulness, guiltiness, helplessness. For theirs is the kingdom of heaven - The present inward kingdom: righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost, as well as the eternal kingdom, if they endure to the end. Luke 6:20.
People's Bible Notes for Matthew 5:3
Mt 5:3 Blessed. There follows nine beatitudes, each of which pronounces a blessing upon those who have certain characteristics. The word "blessed" is first applied to God, and means more than "happy", as it has sometimes been translated. Happiness comes from earthly things; blessedness comes from God. It is not bestowed arbitrarily; a reason follows each beatitude. The POOR in spirit. The humble, in contrast with the haughty; those sensible of spiritual destitution. The same state of mind is referred to when he speaks elsewhere of a contrite and broken spirit. Is the kingdom of heaven. Such shall become members of the kingdom that Christ will establish. The Jews rejected from this kingdom; on account of their spiritual pride.
Hi Kenneth, thank you for visiting & writing in here. Yes, growing up in the world, or even in school, as a Christian is very difficult indeed. We have all sorts of temptations & pressures to conform to what the majority do and think & we know that is not what God has planned for His children. When I was 14 yrs old, I too could find no one at school who believed in God & Jesus as I was taught at home - fortunately, my family loved the Lord & brought me up to read the Bible & obey God's directions.
In your time of prayer, ask God to give you some good friends, especially someone who knows Jesus personally. And even with other friends, you can still be the Light that God needs to shine His Love to them - and God puts His Light in so many different places so that people might hear the Good News that Jesus saves us from sin's penalty. Yes, your friends will notice the difference in you & even if they think less of you, your genuine love & friendship for them will show them Who God is & what a true friendship is all about.
So be encouraged Kenneth, stay close to the Lord, read His Word often, & talk to Him when you feel alone or when you are misunderstood by those you care for. He will bless you & use you in special ways - ways that you may not even be conscious of. All that God asks of us His children, is to be His "salt & light" to the world ( Matthew 5:13, 14). But if you feel alone or want to ask a question or have a chat, we would be delighted to see you again. May the Lord bless you richly.
Nancy, that's a fair question. There are a couple of references to this:
a. Matthew 5:3. "poor in spirit". This refers to the condition of the heart rather than to not having wealth. It means to be humble, having a proper humble (not debasing) opinion of oneself. These folk have a 'spirit' that will be more attune to the Kingdom of God, recognizing that they are nothing before God & have nothing to present to God to try & elevate themselves. Unlike the 'rich in spirit' who are the opposite, trusting in themselves, their accomplishments, authority or power. These don't have the characteristics that would bring them close to God, trusting in themselves rather than God. These things (the Beatitudes) Jesus spoke to His disciples, as also in:
b. Luke 6:20. "Blessed be ye poor". Again speaking to His disciples, this word from Luke gives the sense that the disciples were ordinary folk, having left all to follow their Master. Some were already 'financially' poor as the fishermen, others like Matthew the publican may have had wealth. Whatever their financial state, the criteria for discipleship was leaving all worldly goods behind & learning from their Master. To have wealth & thus being blessed by God as the people were taught, usually meant that that would interfere with their singular focus on the objective: one 'cannot serve two masters', Jesus said. So Luke seems to imply that both poverty as well as mental humility are required for truly hearing & accepting Christ's message: that worldly possessions should not get in the way - that was the true blessing = happiness. And these messages were confined to the heart condition pre-Cross. After Jesus' death & resurrection, the Spirit changes one's heart, mind & perspective of life & worldly possessions.
And yes, you can give to the poor to meet their needs, but they, including those with money, still need to respond to the Gospel in humility & repentance to receive salvation & be a part of God's Kingdom.
kenneth 14 years old:i am so glad that that there are so many followers of god growing up in jesus christ is hard be cause when you go to school there is no one who believes what you do im glad there are more people out there like me who believe in jesus christ
Yes, the sabbath was made for man, and it truly is a wonderful gift from God. Yes we can do good on this day.
Jesus showed us all of the wonderful things that could be performed on this special day! The scribes and Pharisees were always looking for ways to trip Jesus up with the Sabbath.
Luke 6:9-10
"Then said Jesus unto them, I will ask you one thing; Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy it?" 10. And looking round about upon them all, he said unto the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he did so: and his hand was restored whole as the other.
We can justify many things on the sabbath....but, ignore the sabbath, God forbid!
Apostle Paul below:
Romans 3:31
"Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law."
Mishael on the Sabbath Debates on John 20 - 4 years ago
Mark 2:27
And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath.
Matthew 12:8
For the Son of man is LORD EVEN OF THE SABBATH DAY.
Mark 2:28
Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.
Luke 6:5
And he said unto them, That the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.
Clearly The Lord is saying that HE IS the Lord of the Sabbath. If you will scour the NEW TESTAMENT on the Sabbath, you will quickly see that Jesus not only healed people on the Sabbath; He preached to thousands on the Sabbath.
The Pharisees, Sadducees and scribes all banded together to destroy Jesus for it, too.
What kind of people call themselves Christian followers of Jesus and lead others to believe we Get To Debate which day of the week is the Sabbath?
How very hastily we walk the wide road into Apostacy. Or, loss of reward at The Bema Seat Judgement of Christ: where there will be rewards or loss of rewards?
Jesus says clearly that He alone is the Lord of the Sabbath. We follow Jesus; not what the world, or other religions teach.
Didn't Jesus pay enough for us to believe what he said and did?
Why don't we dig into the scriptures of what Apostacy is? I've never seen that one debated in here. It's about knowing the right things to do or just walking away from it altogether.
Don't email because this subject is closed, for me, for now.
Great reply brother. I don't find your examples strange at all. They are perfect. Just as you stated that there are countless things that go on in our everyday lives. That the Ten Commandments may not shed light on. As bringing up examples or "parables", just as Jesus did, helps people understand which way is the right way. It truly is a help to other people that may not understand things in the Bible.
One thing I wanted to share with you is last night it came to me to check a couple passages and put them to the Ten Commandments. In Mark 7:21-23 where Jesus is teaching about evil thoughts from within that "defile a person". The other is Galatians 5:19-23 where Paul states of the "works of the flesh" and "fruit if the Holy Spirit". With these two lists you can match up all the Ten Commandments. The seven of things to veer away from and the three things that God wants us to do. Just looking at those two list there is much more detailed information of things to repent from and things to seek after or focus on. Like you stated about many examples, there still are more things than just those written. Also just another guideline, to help us, from the Lord.
It is so true that we will be faced with things, in this life, that no person has spoken of. Or is written about. It is also true that not everyone is to be Blessed to receive the Holy Spirit in this life. As the Comforter and teacher for us from the Lord. I still believe God to be in all of us as He knows everything about everyone. It is truly a great treasure, and gift, to have the Spirit of Christ reside in us. A wonderful teaching, as all are, of Jesus Christ is Luke 6:27-38. Also the simple but "golden" rule of "Do unto others as you would want them to do to you."
Hope you have a great weekend Chris. God Bless my brother.
I very much agree with what you are portraying brother. What I feel is that the Ten Commandments are good a, simple, guideline for us. Of coarse we have all already sinned and come short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23. Jesus Christ is our one and only saviour sent by our Father. Even though we will still probably all make mistakes it seems good to me to have some good guidelines to at least go by in the evil world we live in. To make our Father happy as surely none of them are bad things or that we can't easily fulfill by just using a bit of self control. Still as I can say a parable where one would have to choose between disobeying a Commandment or following the Will of God. How we need the Holy Spirit gifted to us as our teacher. Just as you said though. Our Fathers love is so great in that He has already given the perfect sacrifice for all sins. Also as said it is all of a power not of my own. Something else that makes our Father happy is producing good fruit of the Holy Spirit. As I'm sure there are much better people in the world, than me, that have done many more good things. I take no credit for anything good I've ever done. I am forever thankful. Glory be to our Father.
As praying for everyone feels right. The people who do right and them that do wrong. As the Lord has taught me to love all. As in Luke 6:35 :"for He(our Father) is kind unto the unthankful and the evil." Praise the Lord Jesus Christ and our Perfect Father! God Bless you brother.
In Genesis 22 :7-8 Isaac askAbraham his father where is the lamb Abraham said my son God will provide HIMSELF A lamb
IN Exodus 12 God gives the times and the orders of the passover lamb (Jesus)
Look at Exodus 12 :2 God starts time over to the beginning this is prophecy if you will perceive it
My interpretation is God StartsTime over here so we would know that when the true final passover lamb Jesus comes Time will start over and it did
And look at the Fulfillment of God will provide HIMSELF a Lamb
John chapter 1 verse 29 Behold the lamb of God which taketh away the sins of the world God Brings is on lamb Jesus in to his own house 2chronicles 3:1 on the 10th day of Nissan And Inspected Him ( Luke 6:7)Till the 14th day and judged Him ( John 18:28)by the law and by the religion of the day And Pilate said I FIND NO FAULT IN THE MAN NO BLEMISH NO SIN Luke 23:1-3
And it is still the 14th Till 6 o'clock
And crucified Him Outside of God's house the city Jerusalem at evening 3 clock Exodus 12:6
Matthew 27:37 And set up over His Head His accusation written THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS (God's Name Tag on His LAMB) And ROSE UP 3 days later on the 17th day
Hebrews 9:12 Took His Own BLOOD and Entered in ONCE into The HOLY PLACE (THE THRONE OF GOD) having OBTAINED ETERNAL REDEMPTION for us
John 14:29 (Jesus said) And now I have told you BEFORE IT COMES to pass that WHEN IT IS COME TO PASS YE MIGHT BELIEVE
This may or may not help you it is a point of view that you may have already Studied
(Pray for our ministers that are teaching Gods Word, every day.)
Matthew 14:23
And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart TO PRAY: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.
Matthew 24:20
But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
Mark 13:33
Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.
Luke 6:28
Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.
Luke 18:1
And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;
>The reason it says pray that your flight be not on the sabbath, is because the Jews can't go over a certain distance. They wouldn't be able to flee to the mountains as another scripture tells us.
>If we are not living a prayerful lifestyle..we are just fooling ourselves on how spiritual we think ourselves to be. That is Not an accusation.
If you think that was unkind of me to say that, then go listen to some Charles Stanley sermons on a life of prayer, on YouTube. He teaches on tv every Sunday too.
Hello my brothers and sisters. Hoping this is ok, here, as this is about prayer but not a prayer request. When prayer began to become part of my daily life. The our Father prayer was of coarse my foundation as it is a good, simple, prayer. As time went on it felt good to just add more details to the prayer to make it more personal, detailed, and unique. One thing that came to me was after looking up the definition of "us". As it states to be a plural form of "I" or "me" that, could, usually means more than one. But there's no real detail if you're saying the prayer for just yourself, or whose in your house, or what? The Lord said to me one night "pray for all". This was perfect. So as in the prayer lines like "give us, forgive us, or deliver us, etc" adding "all" after "us" felt great. The Lord Blessed me with this, as to pray for all people. As in the Word there are several sayings like Matthew 5:44, Luke 6:35, 2 Peter 3:9, along with many others showing Gods glorious mercy and love for everyone. It may be hard to see it at the point in life you are in, life's not easy, but He's with you. As I just felt to share with this with you all. In that it may help in any way.
I'm sure we all have our own relationship with God and Christ. It truly is special when we are intimate with our Perfect Father. Producing good fruit with His will. God Bless you all my brothers and sisters, in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.
Great question! I was just thinking about those recently & I realized a deeper thought about them. He said these things before HE actually lived them out as example, before HIS crucifixion.
When we sow seed towards the work of God(Kingdom work). When we sow it not only in faith but in obedience to God's word. Expecting God to get the glory out of our seed. We can expect for God to multiply our seed and give it back unto us in a greater measure.
Olivia, I believe you're referring to a comment initiated by Maryann a couple of months ago. If that is the case, I was addressing the matter of non-violence & non-retaliation, as prescribed in God's Word. Take time to read the following Scriptures: Matthew 5:38-44; Luke 6:27-38; and Romans 12:14-21.
So, these portions of Scripture tell us how Christians are to behave or respond when trouble comes our way. However, we should do all in our power to protect ourselves, our children & our property from wicked perpetrators. But what the Bible teaches is that we must not go on the attack, or repay evil with evil, or in any way do what Christ would not do. The only ones empowered by God to pronounce judgement & give out a penalty is the government. Often even they don't administer it correctly, but that is another matter.
Maybe your question is: "then how can we protect ourselves?" Are we talking about the authorities under instruction from an anti-Christian govt. coming to take you & your children because of your faith? Then I doubt neither you nor I could do much at all given their position & strength. We need to submit & trust God for the outcome. Or else, what would be your plans to oppose them? Using a gun? How far would that get you against the police or army?
But if you're thinking of a criminal breaking into your house or accosting you on the street, then you are authorized by law to protect yourself, but restricted by the amount of force used. Then again, how does one know what crime is intended to be committed? Does any of this help you, or have I missed your point?
Sometimes it seems the things that God commands of us are impossible (like loving your enemy), but He wants us to trust Him (without faith it is impossible to please God) to do the impossible. We shouldn't avoid malicious, evil people; we should count it all joy that we have an opportunity to do what God has called us to do. We understand that God is in control and He will fight our battles; vengeance is mine says the Lord! We must do what He tells us to do and then we will get HIS reward. When we act according to the flesh them we will get OUR reward according to the flesh.
"Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you".We must conceive of the words, Luke 6:27 and Luke 6:28, as having been pronounced with some kind of enthusiasm. These precepts overflow with Love. You have only to meet every manisfestation of hatred with a fresh manisfestation of love. Romans 12:21 and Romans 5:8-10 KJV.
I love movie: The Shack: there's a scene where God and this man he's helping are hiking through a forest. God shows him that he needs to forgive the man who murdered his daughter.
The man is sitting there trying to crush a ladybug in his hand, and God leans in and says: its about taking your hands off his neck. The man considers this and slowly opens his hand and lets the ladybug fly away.
It's a beautiful movie about forgiveness. How we blame God for the bad things that happen to us; and how we blame ourselves mercilessly.
It's a theme of Love. God will use your testimony to help others to get free.
I have finally figured out why we are commanded to do this; because it helps us to forgive. Have you ever noticed that when you pray for someone, you feel love for that person, even if you don't know that person? When we pray for those who have hurt us, or continually hurt us, it's not so their hearts will be changed--although I often pray for that. It's not so they will stop hurting us--although I often pray for that. It's so that the love that we automatically feel for people when we pray for them will heal our hearts and help us to forgive. Sometimes we forgive but the hurt and resentment is still there--praying for the person who hurt you helps your heart heal from the pain.
Pray these scriptures out loud, until you know them by heart.
Luke 6:18
as well as those who were tormented with unclean spirits. And they were healed.
Luke 9:11
But when the multitudes knew it, they followed Him; and He received them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who had need of healing.
John 8:36
If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
Acts 5:16
Also a multitude gathered from the surrounding cities to Jerusalem, bringing sick people and those who were tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all healed.
Romans 8:11
But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
Romans 8:2
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
2 Corinthians 4:10-11
always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus' sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.
Philippians 4:7
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
James 5:13-15
Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
1 Thessalonians 5:23
Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Timothy 1:7
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
You are correct. Adam was put in charge of the Garden. The spreading of sin to all of mankind has resulted from the inability of Adam to uphold the Law of God and resist what Satan was offering him.
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: Romans 5:12
Eve, however, was also there. In fact, Eve was the first person to accept Satan's proposal, look at Genesis 3:6.
Both Adam AND Eve received punishment for what happened in the Garden, look at Genesis 3:16.
The transgression that took place in the Garden of Eden had nothing to do with a piece of fruit. Both Adam and Eve were wholly seduced by Satan.
After the act took place:
Eve's punishment concerned child birth.
Satan's punishment concerned the separation of "seed" from the woman ( Genesis 3:15).
Eve found Satan to be "desirable" and "pleasant to the eyes" ( Genesis 3:6, 2 Corinthians 11:3). The punishment by our heavenly Father upon Eve, (and all of womankind) included her desire to now be focused upon her "husband, and he shall rule over thee" Genesis 3:16.
A few minutes of research into Scripture and a Bible Concordance will likely bring this topic into better light.
A man should not blame a woman for a mistake he made. Neither should a woman blame a man for a mistake she made.
It seems like nobody is doing their job anymore, male or female. How far ahead would mankind be if we took responsibility for our actions!!!

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
( Revelation 21:6,7)-
6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
( Luke 6:36,37)
36 Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.
37 Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:
Jesus showed me long ago...l will never forget it....NEVER!!!
Wesley's Notes for Matthew 5
Mishael
May the Lord bless you richly.
Happy Sabbath!
God Bless.

1 Thessalonians 5:17
Pray without ceasing.
1 Thessalonians 5:25
Brethren, pray for us.
Luke 18:1
And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;
Mishael
I'm sure we all have our own relationship with God and Christ. It truly is special when we are intimate with our Perfect Father. Producing good fruit with His will. God Bless you all my brothers and sisters, in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.
Mathew 5:1-48
Luke 6:17-49
Mathew 26:67
Mark 15:16-20
Luke 23:34
I love movie: The Shack: there's a scene where God and this man he's helping are hiking through a forest. God shows him that he needs to forgive the man who murdered his daughter.
The man is sitting there trying to crush a ladybug in his hand, and God leans in and says: its about taking your hands off his neck. The man considers this and slowly opens his hand and lets the ladybug fly away.
It's a beautiful movie about forgiveness. How we blame God for the bad things that happen to us; and how we blame ourselves mercilessly.
It's a theme of Love. God will use your testimony to help others to get free.
Luke 6:18
as well as those who were tormented with unclean spirits.
Luke 6:42
