Just to add a little to discussion:

Personal experience it is like to many new believers it's learning everything again but better.

I thought just the other day about this issue.

Like learning to talk, eat, walk & act all over again, in the Spirit

Like not going places that cause sin before, not saying hurtful or offensive words etc.

Saints is another name for Gods Children Israel

14He also exalteth the horn of his people, the praise of all his saints; even of the children of Israel, a people near unto him. Praise ye the LORD.

5 Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice.

6 And the heavens shall declare his righteousness: for God is judge himself. Selah.

7 Hear, O my people, and I will speak; O Israel, and I will testify against thee: I am God, even thy God.

the only people that made a covenant with the Lord is Israel

For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh:

    4 Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises;

5 Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.

In verse 2 at the end of the verse it says " the faith was once delivered unto the saints ".

When did this take place ?

Jesus taught the 12 apostles and before and after his crucifixion .

Judas was replaced before Pentecost . The qualifications for the replacement was that He and not she had to witness Jesus from the time of Jesus Baptism by John the Baptist to Seeing Jesus alive from the dead .

These men received the One and only completed faith . The Holy Spirit help in the understanding as Jesus left to be at the Fathers right hand . The Holy Spirit continues to this day to help us understand the written complete faith found in the New Testament . There are no revisions or add ons to the Apostles doctrine found in the books of the Bible .

The doctrine should be very precise not a matter of vague interpretation , of which leads us to many denominations etc and room for heresy to breed .

2 Timothy 3 v 16 , 17 It's all provable in the Bible . Since the apostles passed on evil men have made the faith many things . But the one faith remains in the scriptures , and with the Holy Spirits teaching you can find it and be assured of it ! God bless you as you seek the truth that sets us free from deception .

    Wesley's Notes for 2 Peter 2:4

2:4 Cast them down to hell - The bottomless pit, a place of unknown misery. Delivered them - Like condemned criminals to safe custody, as if bound with the strongest chains in a dungeon of darkness, to be reserved unto the judgment of the great day. Though still those chains do not hinder their often walking up and down seeking whom they may devour.

    People's Bible Notes for 2 Peter 2:4

2Pe 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned. In order to show that judgments on these wicked teachers are sure, Peter cites examples. Even angels when they sinned were subjected to punishment. But cast [them] down to hell. The sinning angels were cast out of heaven. The word rendered "hell" is not Gehenna, but Tartarus, a Greek term used for the place of future punishment. Delivered [them] into chains of darkness. "Pits of darkness" (Revised Version); possibly dungeons of darkness gives the idea. Compare Jude 1:6 Both passages point to a time when angels sinned, fell, and thus became angels of darkness.

    Raymond Quijano,

I hear you loud and clear and completely agree.

I will do my best to keep God's calendar and not the ridiculous Gregorian calendar that has everyone fouled up.

The Book of Enoch from the Dead Sea Scrolls gives us the Solar Priestly Calendar.

The Book of Enoch covers topics on the solar priestly calendar, origins of demons and giants, why some angels fell from heaven, an explanation of why the Great Flood was morally necessary, and the thousand-year reign of the Messiah.

The Book of Jude speaks of these fallen angels and Enoch is mentioned as having preached against them ( Jude 1: 14-15).

Sabbath days remain constant on the Enoch calendar in relation to the spring equinox; but they will rotate on the Gregorian calendar.

Enoch lived 365 years (and possibly .242)

The spring equinox is the great equalizer of the calendar and is the leap day that rectifies the calendar every year (day 365.242), look at (Ps. Ch. 19)

March 20, 2020 (sunrise to sunrise) was the 365th day of the solar year (the day of the spring equinox), making March 21, 2020 the first day of the first month of the New Year (and the 4th day of the week)

The 364 day Enoch solar calendar runs off the 365.242 day solar cycle

    When does the day start? Look at ( Gen 1:16, 18, 19:33, 34, Ex. 10:13, 16:22-27,

We are specifically commanded to use the SUN as the sign for days, Sabbaths, months, years, Sabbaths of years, jubilees, and feasts, and for all seasons of the year.

The LUNAR cycle for the year is 354 days

The Enoch solar calendar is 364 days (+ 365th and day of spring equinox)

The moon is to be for light upon the earth at night ( Gen. 1:14, Psalms 136:9, Jeremiah 31:35), for seasons ( Psalms 104:19), and for a witness to the covenant of David ( Psalms 89:37).

The ONLY calendar that can reckon Daniel's 70 weeks is the Enoch calendar.
  • Greg - In Reply on James 1 - 4 years ago
Chris, Book of Enoch worth taking a look at.

The 7th day Sabbath that I try to follow generally concerns 1) No servile work 2) not buying or selling / 3) resting 4) doing good works 5) honoring God.

3 and 4 I try to do every day.

I realize that I could be totally wrong about all of this. I don't think that God will fault me for trying though?

I am in the favorable position of being able to adjust for the (generally) yearly shift of the 7th day due to the Gregorian calendar.

Just as our birth day shifts every year, why would people think that the 7th day or the 1st day or whatever day they

    follow would not change also?

More information concerning the Book of Enoch:

    Paraphrased from Wikipedia:

The Book of Enoch covers topics on the solar priestly calendar, origins of demons and giants, why some angels fell from heaven, an explanation of why the Great Flood was morally necessary, and the thousand-year reign of the Messiah.

The Book of Jude speaks of these fallen angels and Enoch is mentioned as having prophesied against them ( Jude 1: 14-15).

Various Aramaic fragments found in the Dead Sea Scrolls, as well as Koine Greek and Latin fragments, were proof that The Book of Enoch was known by Jews and early Christians.

This book was also quoted by some 1st and 2nd century authors as in the Testaments of the Twelve Patriarchs.

Judaism- Although evidently widely known during the development of the Hebrew Bible canon, Enoch was excluded from both the formal canon of the Tanakh and the typical canon of the Septuagint and therefore, also from the writings known today as the Deuterocanon.

    One possible reason for Jewish rejection of the book might be the textual nature of several early sections of the book that make use of material from the Torah;

    Chris,

Thanks for taking the time to respond to my questions as well as your thoughts on the matters being discussed.

I would tend to agree with most of your thoughts concerning being saved. But I look at it from this point of view. Those that are predestinated, and chosen, and accepted, etc such as Abraham, Enoch, Moses, etc. are saved because God said so, as many of the verses you offer supports. We have examples of them throughout Scripture (whether they wanted to do the will of God or not i.e., Jonah or Saul / Paul). And I agree, it is only Jesus and God that truly know you are saved, man does not. Neither God, nor Jesus, nor the Holy Spirit, has revealed to me that I have been chosen, or have become acceptable, etc

I would like to believe that I have been predestined, and already saved through my steadfast belief in The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

I feel very blessed throughout my lifetime.

I want to believe that I have an unshakable faith that can withstand all the horrors that can be inflicted upon myself and my family and my friends.

I realize that I have had to fight for none of the religious freedoms I currently enjoy.

I have never been truly tested; life or death to be a Christian; as in other parts of the world today.

I feel as though I need to contend every day for the faith that was once given unto the saints ( Jude 1:3).

I pray that I can withstand the fiery darts of Satan if and when the time comes.

I know that if the end times weren't shortened by Christ Himself, even the elect would not be saved ( Matthew 24:22).

Hebrews 6:9 concerns the hope / confidence / trust that the beloved in Christ will not falter; but for those spoken of in Hebrews 6:6 that were once enlightened, and have now fallen away; Hebrews 6:8 is their final end.

Genesis 1:10 KJV(10) And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.

God called the "dry" land Earth as the meek shall inherit the earth. The dry, meek heart shall be dried of the waters of strife as they will humbly hear the opening up of His mouth that will teach us. He will open up the Scriptures to our hearing ears and we are to take heed on how we hear for we shall be given more.

    Matthew 5:2 KJV

    (2) And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,

Happy are the meek for they shall inherit the Earth as they shall hear HIs teaching humbly. The "dry" heart shall be dried of all evil and evil speaking....the waters of strife. God called the dry land "Earth" for the meek shall inherit the earth.

    Matthew 5:5 KJV

    (5) Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

But the gathering of the waters are people who will resist what they hear and don't understand as the "raging waves of the sea" foaming out their own shame as they speak a multiple amount/superfluity of evil words in their envy and strife. The wicked shall not understand Him as the "blackness of darkness" is reserved for them.

    Jude 1:13 KJV

    (13) Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.

The wicked are like the troubled sea when it cannot rest whose waters cast up mire and dirt (as they will speak multiple evil words in their contention of His teaching). There is no peace to the wicked.

    Isaiah 57:18-21 KJV

    (18) I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts unto him and to his mourners.

    (19) I create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace to him that is far off, and to him that is near, saith the LORD; and I will heal him.

    (20) But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.

    (21) There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.

Job 38 tells us the Sons of God shouted for joy at the creation of the earth. Adam did not come until 6 days AFTER the creation of the earth. So Adam could not have shouted for Joy before he was in existence. So the Sons of God of Job 38 must be angels., unless Adam shouted for joy before he existed.

Believers do not become Sons of God till they are born of the Spirit in the New Testament. Adam was called a Son of God since he had no earthly mother and Jesus is the ONLY BEGOTTEN Son of God. Angels are not THE SON OF GOD, they are Sons of God.

Job 38:4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.

5 Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?

    6 Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;

7 When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

After all who was the FATHER of the Angels? think about it.

God tells us He never called an Angel His Son we are all Sons and Daughters equal in Christ Jesus and Adopted by God yes like The Godhead our roles are different but God has no favorites. Jude tells us the Angels sinned the same as those in Sodom and Gomorrah Verses 7-8. Deuteronomy tells us who Gods Sons were who had relations with these Woman. yes we need to read carefully Gods Truth in Scripture but not with Man or Woman's understanding but with Gods Wisdom.

The text of the Book of Genesis says Enoch lived 365 years before he was taken by God.

He was considered to be the author of the Book of Enoch and also called Enoch the scribe of judgment.

The New Testament has three references to Enoch from the lineage of Seth ( Luke 3:37, Hebrews 11:5, Jude 1:14-15).

The Book of Enoch is considered to be a historical book and was not canonized into the Bible.

Isaac, the book of Enoch is an Apocryphal book that is not found in the Canon of Scripture. It is one of the books that were considered of doubtful value/quality when the Scriptures were put together for the KJV. If you want to see those books, then just go down to the end of this Site's page & click on KJV Apocrypha.

And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

    Genesis 6:1-4

The sons of GOD ARE INDEED Angels, this is referenced in Jude as well. So, 1st Enoch may be missing from our translations. GOD YHWH is the ONLY TRUE AND HOLY JUDGE.

    Mishael and everyone else.

Archeological records do show pre-historic people were religious. Religion has existed from the beginning, not just because God created us with a desire for Him, but because Satan and his horde used it to draw people away from God. The earliest writings are religious; Gilgamesh and Sanskrit. Just as God used to walk in the Garden with Adam and Eve, Satan and fallen angels made their presence known. Was association with these fallen angels and pursuit of idolatrous religious beliefs that excluded God, what the Fruit consisted of? Of course, we don't know. But everything in the Bible points to it. From the day Adam Sinned, to the present. The earliest cave drawings show rituals God would not approve of. Why have men been drawn to spiritual worship that excludes God? Why have they believed everything except the Truth? Out of 7 Billion people on the Earth, there are only 2 Billion that bear the name of Christ.

Think about this. Why is it Christ only showed Himself to a select group, after His Resurrection? Why not go public? Why didn't anyone recognize Him? They sat with Him, talked, fished and ate with Him, and they didn't recognize Him. Why? Because God has a Plan, a design. God created with a Purpose. Why did God speak in Parables and not plainly? Because if He had, they would believe. Didn't He want everyone to believe? The answer is a resounding No.

Men have been drawn away from God from the very beginning. Why? Satan. Satan enticed Adam and Eve by appealing to their curiosity about things they didn't know about God and the universe. He preyed on their innocence and the desire God placed in us for Him. God told them not to follow those things, but like Songs 2, they were enticed. They disobeyed. Gen 6:5, Rev 2:20, 2Kings 9:22, 17:16-18, Jude 1:11. 1Sam15:23: For rebellion is like the sin of divination,

and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, he has rejected you. Sound like Adam?

Frederick, Jude here refers to a group of 200 angels who descended upon Mt. Hermon and took an oath between themselves, to defile humanity. Perhaps as part of Satan's attempt to foil GOD's plan of redemption.

They agreed to intermingle with women which resulted in the nephillim. This is what the spirit means when it refers to the "mighty men of old, men of reknown" mentioned in Genesis 6. The nephillim were 1/2 Man, 1/2 angel and were humongous and great in strength and became well known for their exploits. GOD put enmity between them and they set themselves against each other until they were all dead. All the greek "gods" and the titans were actually these nephillim.

When the fallen angels appealed to GOD for mercy HE sent Michael to place them in iron fetters and then placed them in Tartarus, the land of shadow, which we know also as the bottomless pit. They are there now awaiting judgment.

Jude here refers to them as examples of of the consequences of indulging the flesh and its lustful desires and willfully disobeying GOD.
