    Greetings in Jesus' name, Carleton.

    The bible says:

    1 Corinthians 3:11

For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

So, my foundation is not a "she" or "her", but a He; verily the Lord Christ Jesus.

    1 Peter 2:7-9

    King James Version

7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,

8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.

    9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

And upon that rock, Jesus built His Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

The Church is not the rock.

She is built on that rock, which is Christ.

    Who is she you ask?

    1 Peter 2:9

    But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

    Amen.

She's a worldwide body of disciples baptized in Jesus' name (not titles F, S, & HG) for the remission of their sins (& not as an "outward showing of an inward change" or "public profession of faith"),

& filled with His Holy Spirit walking in his commandments continuing in His word ( John 8:31-32).

    Where is she you ask?

    John 11:52

And not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad.

She's scattered abroad throughout all the world,& doesn't exist in buildings built by men with fancy titles & big screens and p.a. systems, but in eachother's houses & in the streets confessing Christ to others (Roman's 10:9) for this is how Christians SHALL be saved.

    Praise the Lord!

    Now let me ask you;

How were you saved & unto what were you baptized?

Lezbeth, may the Spirit grace you with HIS wisdom and HIS understanding.

Revelation 22:16 I JESUS have sent my angel to testify unto you (you are the church) these things (that are revealed; by Revelation) in the CHURCHES....

Revelation 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave to him (Christ), to show unto his servants (Christ's inheritance; Psalms 2:8) things which much SHORTLY (during your lifetime) come to pass......

1 Peter 1:21 WHO (YOU) by HIM (CHRIST) do BELIEVE....

Galatians 2:16 KNOWING that a man is not justified by the works of the law, BUT BY THE FAITH OF JESUS CHRIST, even we have BELIEVED (by HIM) in Jesus Christ, that we might be JUSTIFIED by THE FAITH OF Jesus Christ......

Christ has given you HIS FAITH

Revelation 2:26 And he (you; the church) that overcomes and keeps MY WORKS (remember he gives us HIS faith, His truth, His wisdom, His understanding, His council, everything that is HIS he gives to us as our inheritance; we are his children) unto the END (when you leave this body of flesh at it's death; now he is going to give you HIS BODY; HIS incorruptible and immortal self ( 1 Timothy 6:16)......

Isaiah 26:19 Thy dead men shall LIVE, together with MY DEAD BODY SHALL THEY ARISE...

This is the rapture of the church (you) individually not collectively.

Isaiah 27:12 ...ye shall be gathered ONE BY ONE....

Mathew 24:40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken and the other left.

1 Corinthians 12:27 Now we are THE BODY OF CHRIST.....

1 Corinthians 3:21 Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours (THROUGH THE WORKS OF CHRIST)

The leaders in the time of Jesus were wicked pretenders of religion and Jesus exposed their hypocrisy:

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves. ( Matthew 23:15)

And the Lord said unto him, Now do ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness. ( Luke 11:39)

Jesus was perceived as a threat to the religious leaders so they conspired to kill him:

Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles. If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation. ( John 11:47-48)

Even Pilate saw through their facade:

But Pilate answered them, saying, Will ye that I release unto you the King of the Jews? For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him for envy. ( Mark 15:9-10)

The great wonder of this is that God knew all this and worked it all together to provide the needed sacrifice for our sins through his Son Jesus Christ:

Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain: Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it. ( Acts 2:23-24)

Clearly to me I feel 11:40 "Said I Not" Jesus had sent. Word earlier to Martha and Mary and so He had to complete His assignment elsewhere before returning, but Martha was very upset because he hadn't come earlier! He then Asked her to Roll the Stone away , but she said, " He stinketh by now, hes been dead four days". Jesus already knew that and yet she was still questioning Jesus request! This is the "CHURCH" today still questioning the Miracles Signs and Wonders that should be manifested today...Jesus Sent the Comforter that gives us the power to work through us...qwilliams

I believe that we need to understand what 'death' is when seen in the Bible. If you ask a man on the street, he will think of death as just a cessation of life & the body disposed of. But the Bible generally speaks of death as more than cessation of life on Earth, but of the requirement to enter into another dimension. When Adam & Eve were told that they would die if they disobeyed God by eating of that tree, indeed they would experience physical death, but much more, that death would take them into the next dimension of existence. So physical death (as in a deep sleep) is generally understood as a 'curtain' that we pass through into the next life. However, as in John 11:14, Jesus also spoke of just a present bodily death of Lazarus.

So when you read of a Second Death ( Rev 20:14), there must of necessity be a First Death. So the First Death is that first experience that we will enter as we close our eyes to this physical world & become aware of the next world. Even though there are other views on when & how this happens, my understanding is that if we are saved through faith in Jesus, we (our souls) are transported into Heaven (pre-Cross: there was a holding stage where the righteous & unrighteous were held: Luke 16:19-31)). But at Jesus' death & resurrection, those righteous were removed from there.

So the Second Death now only applies to those who have died without Christ, whether from days past or yet in the future. They no longer will be held in Hell suffering awaiting judgement, but at the close of the age, they, together with the Devil, his angels, the Antichrist & Death & Hell itself, will be consigned into the Lake of Fire for all eternity ( Mark 9:43-48). As for those in Heaven or in God's new heaven & earth (Revelation chapter 21) who will live into eternity in God's Presence, so too will those who have been sent to the Lake of Fire, be enveloped in continual flames for all eternity. Some believe in a reprieve - the Bible doesn't indicate this at all.

I'm sorry to read of your sad loss but to know that your husband loved the Lord, and is now his present joy & your comfort & assurance.

The best Scripture that I can think of, considering your husband's connection with the sea, is in Psalm 107:23-30. Even though the Psalm may seem irrelevant to some extent, the thought that whether going through physical storms (which your husband would be well acquainted with), or even the 'storms' that we all have to face in life, that the Lord will bring His children to their safe haven (add, Heaven) at the end of our lives.

Hebrews 6:18,19 (loosely transliterated): "God has given both his promise and his oath. Since God cannot lie, we who have fled to Him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold onto the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. This hope leads us through the veil that was torn down at Jesus' death into God's inner sanctuary. Jesus has already gone into Heaven for us. He has become our eternal High Priest". My husband (his name), had his hope resting only in His Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ; Christ was his sure anchor as he both sailed the high seas and throughout his life. And now that Anchor (Jesus Christ) Who was held on in faith throughout his life has now become his sight, as he stands in great joy before his God and Saviour.

    Other useful Scriptures: Romans 8:35-39; John 11:25-27; Revelation 21:3-7; 1 Corinthians 15:51-57; John 14:1-3.

I hope something here helps you & will reflect the hope & joy that your husband had in the Lord. May the Lord continue to comfort your heart by His Spirit & His precious Word.

I have nothing to do with the RCC doctrine, in Jesus teachings (KJV) he tells us to believe as little children and so I do believe when I read my bible, I don't understand a lot of it, such as how could Jesus raise someone from the dead, but I know he raised Lazarus, John 11:43, or how could he walk on water as in Matthew 14:25, but I know he did, and many more. Nowhere in the bible does it teach us that we need to understand, but only believe, believe as little children, when you see the trust and faith that a child has in their parent this is what Jesus teaches, only in the cross and his saving grace. the thief that was saved on the cross, he didn't have time to read up on scripture but only believe, and so on. I watch Billy Graham episodes on y tube, on a regular basis, and in one of his sermons he describes the trinity as in water, in water you have, liquid, ice and steam, they are all have the same components, but are different in form. So also as in 1 John 5:7 "the Father, Word and Holy Ghost and these three are one", neither do I understand this, but I know it's true.

Mark 10:15 "Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein."

    Anne, may the Spirit grace you with his understanding;

Hebrews 11 is a testament about the old testament saints; but pay close attention to verses 39 and 40.

Hebrews 11:39-40 And these all (old testament saints), having obtained a good report through (the work of the Spirit of Christ or the Holy Ghost which is) faith, received not the promise (eternal life, incorruption, immortality):

(vs) 40 God (Spirit) having provided some better thing for us (children of the resurrection), that they (old testament saints) without us (children or the resurrection) should not be made perfect (complete in the Spirit of Christ or the Holy Ghost who only hath immortality 1 timothy 6:16).

    John 11:25 ..... I am the resurrection......

Ephesians 2:6 And hath raised us ( old testament saints, children or the resurrection and Christ) up together......

Revelation 20:5 .... this is the first resurrection....

Matthew 27:52-53 And the graves were opened; and many of the bodies of the (old testaments) saints which slept (died waiting for the promise) arose,

(vs) 53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city (new Jerusalem)......

Revelation 7:1-4 (vs) 3 ......till we (Spirit) have sealed our servants (old testament) saints in their foreheads (given them the mind of Christ)......

Revelation 14:4 .......these (old testament saints) were redeemed from among men, being the FIRST FRUITS unto God.....

Revelation 1:3 .... for the time is at hand...

May the Spirit grace you with his wisdom.

Alex comments about the Trinity the Godhead. God told Moses his name was ABRAHAM ISSAC AND JACOB.that is my name forever and my memorial to all generations. Which is exactly like the Davidic kingdom Jesse David and Solomon, father son and granson, 3 distinct beings but 1 kingdom. And 1 of the prophets said that house of david is, like the house of God,Without this father son and granson scenario there cd have neva been a nation of Israel. LIKEWISE without the heavenly trinity, Father son and granson there cannot be an Israel of God. Thats y Jesus refers to the H.G as the PROMISE which is the multiplcation of Christ vii his seed etc that is gona be as the stars of heaven th Israel of God.Ya gotta realize that God Almighty offered up his only son Jesus just like Abraham offered up his only son Issac, Thats what Abraham means exaulted FATHER.thus the Abrahamic trinity is a profile of the heavenly trinity. When they saw the CROWN of THORNS on Jesus head they rememebered the ram caught in the thicket by his horns. The LORD shall provide himself a lamb which was JESUS. The ABRAHAMIC trinity is an exact PROFILE of the heavenly trinity, That y GOD told moses his name was abraham issac and jacob, and my memorial to all generations, just as the ABRAHAMIC TRINITY WAS multiplied as the sands of the seas so the heavenly trinity is gona be multiplied as the stars of heaven, that was the great promise and God swore by his very self,Thats y Jesus refers to the H.G as the promise he is the multiplcation of CHRIST in humanity via the seed of CHRIST th living word th new covenant.Behold ME and the CHILDREN the Lord has given ME th Israel of God via the seed of the sower the WORDS of that book in the right hand of the Father. that is gona initiate a birth of CHRIST IN US SINNERS. THE Woman in birth pains for the Israel of God,the H.G.thus the babes and sucklings are spirits. ok gbu

There are four types of love (in Greek) given in the Bible which is more useful than the single word we have in English.

    a. Agape: this is the highest form of love that one can give or receive; it implies an everlasting, sacrificial love. 1 John 3:16, 4:8, 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 are few examples.

    b. Storge: the love that shows familial deep care & concern between members of a family. Obviously, agape can also be experienced in families, but storge is that general love that family care & devotion applies to. Storge is not a word seen in Scripture, though its opposite is seen, e.g. Romans 1:31 "astorgous" & 2 Timothy 3:3.

    c. Phileo: the love, warmth & affinity shared by close friends. John 11:36, Romans 12:10.

    d. Eros: a romantic, sexual love, made especially lovely within marriage. This word is not used in Scripture, though implied in the reading of Song of Solomon & warnings of unrestrained love (porneia) going beyond the bounds of morality.

Luke 17:34 - Careful study suggests that the faithfull will be with our Lord Jesus on His return. Others will be perished as like in the age of Noah and Lot. The disciples asks where he one shall be taken? The taken shall be perished and eagles will feast on their dead bodies. Revelation 19:21- And the remnant were slain with the sword of Him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of His mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh. For our Lord death is a sleep only. John 11:11 - These things said He :and after that He saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth: but I go, that I may awake him. In reality , Lazarus was dead. Thus the death of an unfaithful is a permanent departure from Him.Still it is a sleep. The unfaithfull will be judged after millennium. "We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that love not his brother abideth in death. John 3:14.

"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.

And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Is. 9:6

Here, again, Christ encourages His followers to keep their "hearts" from fear and trouble. This repeats the statement Jesus used to start this message ( John 14:1), immediately after predicting Peter's cowardice ( John 13:38). Here, again, scholars suggest that Jesus is distinguishing between being troubled in one's "spirit," meaning pain and unhappiness, as opposed to being troubled in one's "heart," meaning fear and despair. Jesus was said to have a troubled spirit, at times ( John 11:33; 13:21). What He calls for here is not for Christians to be stone-faced and inhuman. Rather, it's to acknowledge the reality of suffering while at the same time trusting in God to make good on His promises.

    Lora, CONCERNING THE WORD "MYSTERY"

I agree with you, the mystery of God is complex.

I do not agree with you concerning the "mystery of godliness" as it pertains to Scripture you provided, being God Himself. I believe it concerns the Son of God being born of woman ( Isaiah 7:14). Jesus is the One spoken of in 1 Timothy 3:16 and the One promised in Genesis 3:15

I agree with you, Jesus is the way to salvation.

I, however, must disagree with you that God is Jesus and Jesus is God, and again will state that I believe Jesus never came claiming to be His Father.

Jesus came as the personification of the Words of the Father John 1:1-2); and His authority came from the Father; and He lost none of His Father's sheep ( John 17:12)

But Jesus is not the Father.

The word mystery only occurs in the New Testament.

The word "mystery" is the Greek word "musterion" and basically means a "secret."

There is more than one "mystery" spoken of in Scripture.

There is the mystery concerning the DURATION of time of the blindness of Israel ( Isaiah 6:9-10, Romans 11:25).

There is the mystery concerning the kingdom of God which was revealed in parables to the general public, but explained to the 12 Apostles; ( Matthew 13:10-11, 1 Peter 1:10-12)

There is the mystery concerning the fact that "we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed" ( John 11:25-26, 1 Corinthians 15:51, also look at Philippians 3:14, 1 Thessalonians 4:15, Hebrews 9:27)

There is the mystery of iniquity and lawlessness that is connected to MYSTERY BABYLON of Revelation 17:5-7, (look at Daniel 8:23, Daniel 12:4, Matthew 22:4, Acts 2:38, 2 Thessalonians 2:7)

There is the great mystery or secret concerning the Gentiles being co-heirs in the body of Christ, which was only revealed after the second rejection the King and the Kingdom by the Jews in Acts 28:17-31. This is the secret that was kept secret since the world began and what is being spoken of in Romans 16:25-26, Ephesians 3:1-12, and Colossians 1:24-27.

The present wellbeing in a person's life is no indication of their future disposition:

    Ecclesiastes 8:11-13

Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.

Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him:

But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow; because he feareth not before God.

In 1962 in America, one old lady athiest won her case to ban the Bible and the 10 Commandments out of public schools.

Why? people were fascinated with the space program and the upcoming moon walk.

You grew up without any reaffirmation of any public kind, Or from unchurched parents or schools. It was put upon the Church to teach 10 commandments but they were afraid of having tax exempt status taken away.

This is Gods way to have a successful life and marriage. 1 Corinthians chapter 7

1 Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman.

2 Nevertheless, to avoid FORNICATION let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.

3 Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence (marital relations) and likewise also the wife unto the husband.

4 The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife. (Don't use sex to get your own way)

5 Defraud ye not (Withhold sex) one from the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.

6 But I speak this by permission, and not of commandment.

7 For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God (celibacy) one after this manner, and another after that. (Marriage)

8 I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I. (Abstaining)

9 But if they cannot contain (not having sexual relations) let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.

In society, fornication has been made acceptable. Problem is the two become one, and after experimentation and breakups, we have all these old soul ties to other lovers, that weaken a marriage at the start. It takes prayer by the new couple to sever those ties to the past. Mutual respect keeps marriage strong.

    Marie,

The Jews are gathered in Jerusalem to celebrate the Feast of Passover. Jesus was crucified on Friday.

There are 12 hours in a day.

John 11:9 "Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day?"

    If there is midday

Acts 26:13 "At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me."

    and midnight,

Exodus 11:4 "And Moses said, Thus saith the LORD, About midnight will I go out into the midst of Egypt."

then we can say that the day starts at 6am, and the night - at 6pm. That shows that 3rd hour falls at 9am and 9th hour (when Jesus died on the cross) falls at 3pm. (New translation translate just like that).

Mark 15:25 "And it was the third hour, and they crucified Him."

Matt. 27:46 "And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken Me?"

Bible mentions unusual darkness between 6th hour (12pm) until 9th hour (3pm). The darkness can't be seen if it's dark already...

Matt. 27:45 "Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour."

If there was Wednesday and Thursday, then I believe the Bible would have mentioned days instead of just hours.

25 Jesus said unto her, I am the RESURRECTION and the LIFE, he that believeth in me, though he were dead yet shall he live 26 and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

Note: The same question JESUS asked back then remains for you and I in 2020, never-the-less, the question for us in 2020 is: Believest thou that JESUS is the RESURRECTION and LIFE and anyone that believeth in JESUS though that person were dead SHALL LIVE and anyone that beliveveth in JESUS SHALL never die. Through John 3:16-21 I believeth all stated in verse 25-26, and looking forward to being at the Marriage Supper of the LAMB.

    Chris,

Thank you for your great reply! I am so much enjoying this website, & commenting with others about the Lord! I think you may be right about the thief on the cross because since my last comment I remembered something! When Jesus was crucified and was raised, He appeared & was talking with His disciples. He told one of them not to touch Him because He hadn't ascended into heaven yet! So, how then was He in Paradise with the thief when they gave up the ghost?

Angela, it is my belief & understanding from Scripture that when we die, our spirits go immediately into eternity. Those who have been saved, into Heaven, & those who have refused Christ, into Hades.

You cited the thief on the cross: & true, on that very day, as Jesus gave up His Spirit & the thief also died, the thief went into Paradise (we don't believe it was Heaven, but a place of comfort). You also quoted Paul's great expectation from 2 Cor 5:8. It seems clear in the way Paul had expressed it, that once his death took place, his presence with the Lord would be immediate. I also think of: Eccl 12:7, Acts 7:55-59; Phil 1:23; 1 Thes 5:10. There are many who proclaim that there will be a 'soul sleep', i.e. at death, our souls & spirits will remain with our bodies until resurrection day. My understanding from Scripture, is that there is no interim time, rather an immediate transfer of the spirit into eternity. One though has to decide here & now where that eternity is going to be, through his response to the Cross.

    Eric,

It doesn't have to be out of your hands when you die!

That's what it is to be a Christian! Choosing God while are soul's are in this human, worldly body. Then when we die, our soul will go to Him. He said's that "Absent from the body, is present with the Lord! Did you know that if you choose to live for Him here, that Judgement Day is nothing to fear! Did you know that if you are saved, He will be giving you your rewards that day!I have been through so, so much! For years I wasn't living right, and it always led to bad, serious, & tragic things happening to me. I felt alone, rejected, and not loved right! Alot of anger and hurt will lead to anxiety & depression! It can also lead to thoughts of suicide! Eric, God is real I promise you! I can tell you stories of when He has shown Himself in my life!

I make my choice while I am alive. It's out of my hands when I die.
