Discuss John 11 Page 3

    Hi David.

1 Peter 4:6 is a verse that you have to put it in context with the previous verses.

Dead mentioned here in this verse isn't physical death it is spiritually dead. ( Dead in trespasses and sins).

    Notice the context.

1 Peter 4:3-6. For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:

Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:

Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.

For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.

John 5:24. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; BUT IS PASSED FROM DEATH UNTO LIFE.

    Here's more parallel references.

John 11:25-26. Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

    Ephesians 2:1-3, 5. And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

    I hope this helps.

    God bless.

    Hi Zerubbabel,

Not all dreams are from God. Firstly, God does not dream, as to do so is an attempt to escape reality/truth, and it is impossible for God to escape from Himself. Yet, He can and does speak to our mind while we dream while asleep. These messages will always reflect God's Love and/or forgiveness. Fearful dreams and nightmares are caused by an "opposing" source who hates you, who in reality doesn't even exist except only in our delusional mind, but not in the mind of God. What except God can exist. Nothing beyond Him can happen, because nothing except God is real. The truth of one thing or entity (God) always makes the falsity (non-existence) of its opposite perfectly clear. God is not the author of fear, we are, as we have chosen to create (think) unlike Him, and have therefore made (miscreated) fear for ourselves.

Is it not possible when we awaken from our night time dreams, we have merely slipped from one dream to another without really waking? Wake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. Eph. 5:14. Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep. John 11:11. He said unto them, Give place ( go away): for the maid (little girl) is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn. Matthew 9:24.

    Peace.

    Brother Luke:

Enoch and Elijah are not the only two people in history that did not die but were translated into the presence of God. Anyone from the time of pentecost until the present that have been born again of the word of God, through the works of the cross, have not seen death. The two witnesses to this truth is Mosses and the prophets.

John 11:26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me (truth and life) SHALL NEVER DIE .....

    Titus 1:2 In hope of ETERNAL LIFE, which God , that cannot lie, promised (witnessed by Mosses and the prophets) before the world began;

    Amen Brother Chris.

I've once heard a guy explain it like this; The prayer was for us to see that there was no other way but through the cross for man to be saved. Jesus himself knew.

He sort of done the same thing with Lazarus.

John 11:40-42 Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?

Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. AND JESUS LIFTED UP HIS EYES, AND SAID, FATHER, I THANK THEE THAT THOU HAST HEARD ME.

AND. I KNEW THAT THOU HEADREST ME ALWAYS:

("BUT BECAUSE OF THE PEOPLE WHICH STAND BY I SAID IT, THAT THEY MAY BELIEVE ")

    THAT THOU HAST SENT ME.

Man sin wasn't just excused, the penalty had to be paid for.

Jesus knew and by that prayer now we know.

    God bless.

Lazarus, John 11, your question about those who came out of the graves, what happened to them:

    1Samuel 2:6,

    Matthew 27:52,53, 1Corinthians 15, Matthew 22:31,32, also, Luke 7:15,22, Luke 8:49-56, Luke 24, Colossians 1

Did you see it prophesy in:? Ezekiel 37:12,13, John 5:21,25,28, Isaiah 26:19,

    Hosea 13:14, possibly Isaiah 8:1, Psalms 88:10,

    John 12:1-11,

    Romans 6, Romans 8, Revelation 20,

    John 11:25, Romans 10:9, Romans 14:7,8,9, 2Corinthians 1:9,

Hopefully these are all helpful in answering your question & deeper questions you & others may have on the subject

    John 11 and predestination

This chapter emphasizes more in the area of the sovereignty of God and the course Christ was ordained or predestined to follow on His way to the crucifixion in Jerusalem shortly to come to pass after the event with Lazarus. Therefore, there is the theme here of the final leg of the journey when Christ would finally voluntarily sacrifice His life and how He must be preserved until that hour; as well as the confusion as to the true state of Lazarus and when He would come back to life.

The time of His journey had to at least have two days further after the two where He remained where He was residing; once He finally got to where Lazarus was in verse 17.

The contrast between verses 4 and 11 seem to be an issue; but the issue seems to indicate that the final; permanent death or bodily decay wasn't going to happen yet. There could also be an indication here that only the body; not the soul sleeps in this situation. In any event; after confusion as to the timing of the restoration of Lazarus by Mary and others lack of faith while Christ remained on earth; once the miracle did occur it cemented the final plans to kill Him. Caiaphas made the prophetic statement about one man dying for the people in verse 50; not realizing the application for the Jews AND Gentiles through the death and Resurrection to come.

Jesus knew the exact time when He was to head to Jerusalem to die; as He followed the Father's lead in all things. See John 10:18 about Christ's understanding of His power and control on laying down His life AND raising it up again. When we understand the works He has set forth in Ephesians 2:10 prepared for us we also have God lead us through the Spirit.

We are to be conformed to the image of His Son ( Romans 8:29) after a process going from salvation to sanctification to glorification in the next verse (8:30).

    Please read : John 11:1-53,

Luke 16:19-31, someone I believe it was "Chris" in previous discussion multiple months ago, pointed out most Parables, if not all were without name, but this one, perhaps being about Lazarus.

    John 12:1-18,

The sisters have much also mentioned it appears : Luke 10:38-42,

    Matthew 27:56,61, Matthew 28:1, Mark 15:40,47, Mark 16:1,9, Luke 8:2, Luke 24:10, John 19:25, John 20:1-18,

    Possibly even: Romans 16:6,

    Hopefully these are helpful

    Sister Barbara:

    Is she mixed up:

Colossians 1:27 ...this mystery ..... CHRIST IN YOU ....

Christ CAME THE SECOND TIME at pentecost; in SPIRIT, as the Holy Ghost.

Hebrews 9:28 So, Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many (first coming, as flesh), and unto them that look for him (as a thief in the night) he shall appear the SECOND TIME (unseen like a thief, as the Holy Ghost) without SIN UNTO SALVATION.

Philippians 2:13 For it is GOD (the life of the body) that WORKETH in you (his body) both TO WILL and TO DO his good pleasure.

Revelation 20:6 Blesses and HOLY (Christ in you) is he (the body of Christ) that hath part in the FIRST RESURRECTION ..

John 11:25 ....I am THE RESURRECTION, and the LIFE, he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall HE LIVE.

    CHRIST IN YOU.

1 John 2:27 The anointing (THE LIFE) in you ....... will teach you ALL THINGS .......

Colossians 3:3 For ye are DEAD, and your LIFE is HID with Christ in God.

Christ blood COVERS our sins, to REPENT means to change your way of thinking, or your beliefs.

It takes lots of studying God's word and lots of repenting in the way, and things, we believe.

    OLD AND NEW COVENANT

These two covenants are as far apart as the east is from the west.

Revelation 21:5 ......I make ALL THINGS NEW ........

In the Old Covenant, LIFE was in the BLOOD.

Flesh and Blood CANNOT inherit the NEXT AGE.

Christ came as a BODY of Flesh and Blood.

John 3:7 .....ye must be BORN AGAIN.

We CANNOT inherit the next age, because we are still flesh and blood.

When this BODY of flesh and blood DIES, it goes back to dust from whence it came.

The LIFE goes back to GOD that gave the BODY LIFE.

1 Corinthians 15:49 ....we SHALL bear the image of the heavenly ....

1 Corinthians 15:53 ...this mortal SHALL PUT ON IMMORTALITY (Christ) ...

1 Timothy 6:16 Who (CHRIST) ONLY hath immortality ....

1 Corinthians 15:38 God giveth it (the NEW COVENANT IN CHRIST) a BODY as it hath pleased, and to ever SEED HIS (Christ's) own BODY (I AM the RESURRECTION John 11:25)

    YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN.

John 3:16 Whosoever BELIEVES SHALL (at the DEATH of this flesh and blood body) BE SAVED .....Delivered.

    Revelation 12:1 ...A WOMAN (Christ bride) .....

Revelation 12:2 An she (Christ's bride) being with CHILD cried, travailing in BIRTH, and pained to be DELIVERED (given a BODY to exist in the NEW COVENANT.

Revelation 12:5 And she brought forth a man Child, who was to RULE ALL NATIONS with a rod of iron .....

Revelation 2:26 And he that overcometh (the deception of this age, free will) and keepeth MY WORKS ( Philippians 2:13 For it is GOD that WORKETH IN YOU both TO WILL and TO DO his good pleasure), to him will I give power over the nation.

Revelation 2:27 And he shall RULE THEM with a red of iron, even as I received of MY FATHER ( Psalms 2:8-9) ...

Ephesians 4:6 One God and Father OF ALL .....

Christ pour out his blood, and the flesh and blood BODY, DIED.

The Father RAISED Christ's BODY from the GRAVE and gave him a NEW BODY.

A Flesh and Bone BODY, the blood no longer the LIFE; but, the LIFE was SPIRIT.

John 4:24 God is SPIRIT (LIFE) ....

    God Bless ALL.

Matthew 17:5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

Who and why are they called the two witnesses?

Lord Jesus took Peter, James and John to a high mountain and He was transfigured before them and then Moses and Elijah was talking with Him ( Mat 17:3). These two witnesses had to see the Lord Jesus physically on the earth so when they return to the earth, they will testify about Him ( Rev 11:7) and turn the heart of the fathers to the children and the heart of the children to the father ( Malachi 4:5-6) in the first half of the tribulation period when they will appear on the holy mount. They all witnessed the voice of the heavenly Father speaking to them, that this is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased and listen to Him.

These two were the ones who were given the power for the fire to come down, ( 2Kings 1:10) stop the rain, ( 1Kings 17:1) turn the water into blood. ( Exodus 7:20) They are the two candlesticks having the olive branches by their side emptying the golden oil out of themselves for they are the two anointed ones that stand by the Lord Jesus ( Zech 4:11-14) to testify about Him and restore all things as Jesus said. ( Mat 17:11)

Many say that Enoch and Elijah will come again.

They were taken up to heaven and will come back again and then be killed and after three and a half, Spirit of life from God will enter them and then go to heaven. Well in the time of Jesus many died and rose from the dead again, Mary's brother Lazarus ( John 11:43) the widow's son who rose from the coffin, ( Luke 7:15) Dorcas ( Acts 9:40) and the daughter of the synagogue ruler, ( Mark 5:42) yet they also had a second death in their old age. For then Moses and Elijah will die again and be resurrected again for the Spirit of life will enter them and they will go to heaven. ( Rev 11:11-12)

Old Testament law: Deuteronomy 16:16, Exodus 34:23,24, Deuteronomy 31:11, Exodus 23:17, the dates of calendars have changed even the Hebrew / Jewish calendars. Moses through GOD established the beginning of the year to be the Passover, no calendar today honors that. Exodus 12:2, Exodus 12, Numbers 28:16,

Jesus honored these things, along with His parents (on earth) Luke 2:22,23, Luke 2:41-49, John 4:45, John 5:1, John 10:22,23, even those who opposed Jesus expected Jesus to honor the appointed days : John 11:54-57, John 12, Even facing His own brutal death: Matthew 20:17,18 , Mark 10:32,33,34 do you think HE knew He was the Lamb,: Luke 2:38, Luke 18:31, that was going to be slain for Passover? That's why HE told them, as HE obediently set his face to go? Luke 9:51,

    Matthew 21

    Micah 6:6-8,

    John 4:21-24, 2Corinthians 6:2, 2Colossains 2:16,17, Hebrews 10:1-19, Matthew 18:20,

    QUESTION?

Ephesians 4:4 ONE Body, ONE Spirit ......

Ephesians 4:5 ONE Lord, ONE Faith, ONE Baptism,

Ephesians 4:6 ONE God and Father of ALL .....

    What is this ONE?

Is it physical water, or LIVING WATER?

1 Corinthians 1:20 For all the promises of God IN HIM ARE YEA ....

    CAN YOU PLEASE GOD?

Matthew 19:21 ......go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor ......

Acts 2:41 ....and were baptised ....this whole chapter is about the outpouring of the Holy ghost ....so it it batpism of physical water of living water?

Acts 2:45 ....and sold their possessions and goods and parted them to all men .....

If it's water baptism, and you are trying to please God why not go and sell all you possessions; also, and part them to men.

Coming to TRUTH is what pleases God.

Philippians 2:13 For it is God that worketh in you both to will and to do his pleasure.

The life in you is Christ, the faith in you is Christ's faith, the works are Christ's works, the baptism in you is the baptism of Christ (the Holy Ghost):

YOU ARE THE BODY OF CHRIST.

    John 14:6 .....I AM .... LIFE ......

    John 11:25 .....I AM ....... the RESURRECTION .....

Revelation 20:6 Blesses and HOLY is he that hath part in the first RESURRECTION ....

    TRUTH! ....will set you free!

You died on the cross; Christ was resurrected and gave YOU HIS LIFE.

Colossians 3:3 For you are dead, and your life is HID IN CHRIST with GOD.

    ONE ....ONE .....ONE .....ONE .....ONE

1 Corinthians 15:28 .....that God may be all (ONE) in all (ONE).

This topic is widely referred to or discussed in the Scriptures, but I'm unsure whether you're just wanting Scriptures relating to death or more specifically on the preparation to enter eternity. So here are a few Scriptures for you to look at:

    Psalm 49:6-15; Psalm 116:15; Daniel 12:1-3; John 11:19-26; Romans 5:12; 1 Corinthians 15:12-58; Revelation 21:4.

I've understood it to be similar to Simon called Peter: Matthew 4:18, Matthew 10:2, different than Acts 8:9, & Luke, Acts 10:18, Acts 13:1, Acts 13:9, Acts 14:2, notice in Acts, the same book, there are multiple names referenced even a wind, Acts 27:14, Acts 27:8, Hebrews 11:18,

Matthew 1:6 Jesus called Christ, John 4:25, Luke 6:15, John 1:42, John 11:16, not Colossians 4:11,

Romans 2:17, Romans 7:3, same supposed writer as Acts , also Romans 9:26

    Matthew 26:14, Luke 23:33, John 19:13, John 19:17, Acts 6:9, Revelation 11:8,

    Revelation 12:9,

Luke 2:4, Luke 8:2, John 21:2, different than Acts 9:11,

    Acts 1:23, Acts 9:36,

    Colossians 3:15, 1John 3:1,

Hopefully these are all helpful in your study

    Hi John.

Here's the verse you mentioned in context. Picking it up from the previous verse. John 11:25-26. Jesus said unto her, I AM THE RESURRECTION, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

I believe the Lord is talking about the second death as seen here in Revelation.

He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death. Revelation 2:11.

    Also Revelation 20:6.

When we are born again we are Identified with Christ death. "Baptism. Romans 6:2-6.

    Christ is the first fruit.

"But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.

For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.

For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming."

    1 Corinthians 15:20-23.

It means we won't face judgment.

    God bless.

    Amen Brother Alex;

This is for the ones reading our comments.

Zechariah 12:6 And in that day .....

The DAY of the LORD, when it became possible TO BE GIVEN eternal life, THE FIRST RESURRECTION.

John 11:25 .....I am the resurrection, and the LIFE ....

This DAY has been going on for 2000 years.

Zechariah 12:6 And in (the first hour of) that day will I make the governors of Judah (OLD SAINTS) like a hearth of fire among the wood, and like a torch of fire in a sheaf; and they shall devour all the people round about, on the right hand and on the left: and Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place, even in (NEW) Jerusalem.

Zechariah 12:7 The LORD also shall save (resurrection to LIFE) the tents of Judah (Old Saints) FIRST, that the glory of the house of David (NEW SAINTS) and the glory of the inhabitants of (NEW)Jerusalem do not magnify themselves (the NEW SAINTS) against Judah (the OLD SAINTS).

Zechariah 12:8 In that day shall the Lord defend the inhabitants of (NEW) Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David as God, as (the likeness) of the angel of the Lord before them (OLD and NEW SAINTS).

Hebrew days were from sunset to sunset'; the 24 hours were divided into 12 hours of the night (reckoned from sunset); and 12 hours in the day (reckoned from sunrise. See John 11:9) Hence the 6th hour of John 19:14 was our midnight; the 3rd hour of Mark 15:25 was our 9AM; the 6th hour of Mathew 27:45; Mark 15:33, Luke 23:44, Acts 10:9, was our noon; the ninth hour of Mathew 27:45,46; Mark 15:33,34; Luke 23:44, was our 3PM

Expression a night and a day equals a 24 hour day ( 2 Corinthians 11:25) denotes a complete day (Gr. nuchthemeron)

    Brother Mike W:

The first resurrection occurred at Christ resurrection.

John 11:25 ....I am the resurrection....

Ephesians 1:5 Having predestinated us into the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, ACCORDING TO the good pleasure of HIS WILL.

John 15:16 Ye have not CHOSEN ME, But I have CHOSEN YOU .....

All is the WORK'S OF GOD, man just receives the GIFT.

Philippians 1:29 For unto you it is given, on the behalf of Christ, not ONLY TO BELIEVE on him, but also to suffer for his sake,

1 Corinthians 4:7 For who maketh thee to be different from another? and what hast thou that ye did not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why does thou glory, as if thou received it not?

You begin life with a mind of FLESH, if you have your part in the first resurrection, your mind of FLESH IS BEHEADED, and replaced with the mind of Christ.

    All the WORK'S OF GOD.

Have to disagree with you about the Sunday law diving the people, as it changed the day God blessed and sanctified and gave to all creation. It causes God's children to worshiped him on the day of the pagan Sun god day of worship. It joined the Christians to the pagans. It only divided Christians from God. Sunday is the only day God blessed and sanctified, and for God to change it would make him a liar. As it would also make Christ a liar to except any day his God and ours chose for himself and us.

And any Christian should be worshiping God every day, but His chosen day of rest is the Sabbath; unless someone can show me in the bible were it was changed. (Mamatos5, there is a good book about Passover, the bible) And Christ becoming our Passover has nothing to do with a day of the week. Christ is our Passover, the blood over our "door" that gives us eternal life by forgiving our sins. And my comments about Sunday being the mark of the beast was only to make those reading to consider what might be, and to search their bibles for answers. No one knows what is it unless God has chosen them to be a last days prophet. All you can do is pray that the Holy Spirit will guide you to where God wants you in your knowledge of his word. And Friday sundown to Saturday sundown is the Sabbath, as explained by Genesis 1:5,8,13,19 and 23 "And the evening and the morning where the first day"; 12 hours of light, morning through evening ( John 11:9)

This morning I thought more on Lazarus & the parable of Lazarus, in thinking about it: maybe the parable/story was also about how the "Rich" in scriptural knowledge, not sharing or helping while Lazarus had "wounds the dogs would._." alone in his suffering, while the other had historical words of hope, healing, redemption, deliverance.

Just thinking: even though Lazarus in real life may not have been financially poor, his sister had been tormented by 7 demons, in front of the ' religious ' for they judged her openly, Lazarus who dwelt with his sister/s suffered.

Jesus walks in, delivers, redeems, forgives, restores & teaches GOD's words. Mark 16:9, Luke 5:17, Luke 5:29-32, Mark 2:14-17, Matthew 9:10-13, Luke 8:2, Mark 16:9,

John 11:2, John 12:1-11, Luke 7:36-50, Luke 8:2, believing Mary to be Mary Madgelene, & reading John 11:2, (as the only time Jesus feet were anointed with oil, & wiped by a Mary's hair)

Luke 16, interestingly in the Parable/story the "rich" man cried "Father Abraham, have mercy._.._" & "if they hear not Moses an the Prophets._."

    John 11, & John 12,

Hi Haold, or maybe, Harold. That's a difficult question to answer, as we are not told an exact number of people resurrected. Some that come to mind from the Old & New Testaments are: Widow of Zarephath's son ( 1 Kings 17:9-24); Shunammite woman's son ( 2 Kings 4:8-37); an unnamed man ( 2 Kings 13:20,21); Widow of Nain's son ( Luke 7:11-17); Jairus' daughter ( Luke 8:49-56); Lazarus ( John 11:1-45); of course, our Lord Jesus Christ (Luke chapter 24); an unknown number of saints buried in Jerusalem ( Matthew 27:50-54); Tabitha ( Acts 9:36-42); Eutychus ( Acts 20:7-12).

    Hi Darrel.

I would like to share my thoughts.

    First I would like to establish this;

In 2 Peter 1:14. Peter says "Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me."

The tabernacle is the body which the spirit resides in. Peter still exists, The only thing seems to be going anywhere is Peters body.

Now I would like to share a few verses.

    John 14:20.

    John 14:23.

    John 11:25-26.

John 17:22-23. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:

I IN THEM, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. "I IN THEM"

Colossians 3:3-4. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. ( You are already in Christ. ) When you die Christ will be fully manifested to you and in you. No longer hidden.

Galatians 2:20. Paul says he is crucified with Christ, nevertheless he lives. ( Christ dies no more, neither does Paul. ) This is why Paul says absent of the body, present with the Lord. There is no where for the spirit to go! It's not the spirit of the world that lives in a Christian, It's Christ spirit that lives in you.

    1 Corinthians 15:44-49.

This sinful body we inherited from the 1st Adam returns to the Earth.

The 2nd Adam is a life giving spirit, one that we was baptized into, and the same everlasting spirit that resides in you.

The spirit will be made perfect and the body returns to Earth.

    God bless.
