Discuss Job 4

Hello Bmccaugh58. The answers to your questions are actually found throughout the Bible (from Genesis to Revelation), because the Bible essentially shows us how far mankind has fallen away from his Creator (because of sin), the repercussions we face from living in such a sinful state, & what God has done to offer correction & help, or else, judgement. So, one merely has to read through the Bible (even in your daily devotions/readings) & will see how people, yes all of us, have done wrong towards God & man & what subsequently entails from that. Some will learn & be corrected & then restored - others will persist in their evil ways & face God's Judgement.

So, here are some passages to start you off, but in your reading of the Bible, God's Spirit will alert you to what you seek or even where some action needs to be taken in your own life.

    For "Consequences", see: Genesis 2:15-17; Genesis 3:16-19; Deuteronomy 28:1,2,15; 1 Kings 11:9-11; Job 4:8,9; Isaiah 59:2; Jeremiah 17:9,10; Matthew 27:3-5; Romans 6:23; Romans 13:4; Galatians 6:7,8; 1 Timothy 5:8; James 2:10; Revelation 20:12-15.

    For "Correction", see: Proverbs 22:6; Proverbs 29:15; 2 Corinthians 5:10; Galatians 6:1; Ephesians 6:4; 2 Timothy 4:2; Hebrews 12:5-11; Revelation 3:19.

These are just a very few Scriptures, reminding us that there will always be consequences for our actions, not just in our dealings with each other, but more importantly, as we stand before God. But this God of Love always gives sinful wayward man an escape route, from a life of sin to a life of holiness & love - and His Name is Jesus.

    PROPHECY

Psalms 91:13 Thou (Christ, the old lion) shall tread upon the (young) lion (man) and the adder (the devil, man), the young lion (man) and the dragon (the devil, man) shall thou trample under feet (of Christ, the old lion).

Nahum 2:11 Where is the dwelling of the (young) lions (man), and the feedingplace of the young lions (man), where the (old) lion (Christ), even the old lion (Christ) walked, and the (old) lion's whelp (the young lion, man), and none made them (the young lion, man) afraid.

Job 4:10 The roaring of the (old) lion (Christ), and the voice of the fierce (old) lion (Christ), and the teeth of the young lions (man), are broken,

Job 4:11 The old lion (Christ) perisheth for lack of prey (when Christ subdues man, the young lions, under him), and the stout (old) lion's (Christ) whelps (young lions, man) are scattered abroad.

Genesis 49:9 (the tribe, children of) Judah are a (old) lion's (Christ) whelp (young lions, men), from the prey (devouring the young lions) Thou (old lion, Christ) art gone up, he (Christ) stooped down, he (Christ) crouched as a (old) lion, and as a (old) lion (Christ) who shall arouse him (the old lion, Christ).

    God Bless YOU!

I feel there is a significant detail that is possibly a detail that the LORD wants to show you. You may want to independent research about lions. I would be interested in what you find relating to what the LORD shows you!

    Psalms 91, lions Psalms 91:13,

1st I must thank you, Thanks for bringing me back to this Psalms it's Powerful & encouraging!

Hear are more scriptures on lions within the scripture. Several of GOD's people were delivered from lions.

I understand it to mean, any lion just incase we question "what about a young one". Here's a scripture about "._._.an old lion, who shall rouse him up?' Genesis 49:9,

    Young lion : Numbers 23:24,

these also mention a difference between: Job 4:8-21, Job 28:8, Job 38:39, Psalms 17:12, Isaiah 30:6, Isaiah 31:4,

    Ezekiel 19:3, Amos 3:4, Micah 5:8,

    Victory from lions : Judges 14, 1Samuel 17:34,36, 2Timothy 4:17, Daniel 6,

But also used against a Prophet that disobeyed GOD's specific orders : 1Kings 13,

    Hopefully these are helpful

This is a fascinating thing. I heard a sermon one time saying the words spoken about "if someone sees the face of GOD they cannot live" he said "they cannot live, the same" Is this the question you're looking deeper into? Genesis 32:20,30, Exodus 33:11, Exodus 34:28-30,35,

    It would be very interesting to do a study on the words. Exodus 3:6, Exodus 33:20,23, Numbers 6:25, Deuteronomy 5:1-5, Deuteronomy 31:17,18, Deuteronomy 32:20, Deuteronomy 34:10, Judges 6:22, 1Kings 13:6, 1Chronicles 16:11, 2Chronicles 7:14, 2Chronicles 30:9, Psalms 13:1, Psalms 17:5, Psalms 22:24, Psalms 105:4, Isaiah 54:8, Isaiah 59:2, Jeremiah 21:10, Ezekiel 20:35,

Perhaps it's the word "man" that the emphasise is. Romans 8:14, Galatians 4:6, Hebrews 12:7, John 1:12, Philippians 2:15, 1John 3:1,2 , 1John 4:15, How sad it is when a living father says "see his face no more" or turns his face.

Genesis 3:8-10, interestingly, in this translation it says they heard "the voice of the LORD" they "hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God"

What's amazing is: Genesis 4:16, it appears even though they were cast out of the garden GOD's presence was still with them.

    Psalms 139, Job 4:15,

    Hopefully this is helpful

Beloved "Richard H Priday", everything is just emptiness without the Holy Spirit. For without Jesus we dig and run in all directions and do not know where we end up.

Ecclesiastes 1:1 The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem.

2 Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity.

3 What profit hath a man of all his labour which he taketh under the sun?

4 One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh: but the earth abideth for ever.

5 The sun also ariseth, and the sun goeth down, and hasteth to his place where he arose.

Matthew 18:18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.

20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

Be blessed in Jesus' Holy Name i love you in Christ. 1 Corintihans 15

Let the games begin; as they say. Job's lamentable situation was; up until this point met with silence of his "friends" for a week when he was mourning. Now; the seemingly endless dialogue between each of the 3 individuals and Job (eventually involving the more youthful FOURTH figure) was to begin; and encapsulate more than 30 chapters of scripture. At least the first few verses acknowledged Job's accomplishments in helping others (v. 3 and 4) before the criticism ensued. This; as far as I know is the only positive thing his friends said-and even in this case it was used against him. The "spirit" passing before his face in v. 15 of Eliphaz sure sounds like a demon; and whatever truth was stated; no doubt was inspired by Satan himself to further torment Job in his compromised condition.

It should be remembered that from what we can ascertain; Job never learned the cause of his suffering and the author if it was Moses or not was only later given this understanding. It should serve as a sober warning of the "accuser of the brethren" ( Rev. 12:10) who continues his old tricks even to this day and until His doom comes to its final fruition. However the Spirit restrains him at present; the fact that God can give him authority to this level; and in fact surely would have killed him had God given permission should be a sober reminder to us not to trifle with principalities and powers apart from the power of the Spirit of God. Christ Himself and He alone has victory and determines when Satan is bound and sent to his final punishment (even if angels administer the action). We need to be praying for others going through "like temptations" as well (although I can't find the verse at present!)

Psalms 9:10, Psalms 18:2,30, Psalms 56:3, Psalms 71:5, Isaiah 12:2, our trust & hope should ultimately be in GOD

    * Psalms 118:8, * Jeremiah 9:4, * Micah 7:5,6, Luke 12:52, Psalms 27:10, Ephesian 6:2,3, Proverbs 23:22, people even most dear can betray, abandon, abuse etc. There was much abuse, betrayal, within King David's family & those he served. 1Samuel 21, 2Samuel 15, Saul his King, his children, wife, etc. Starting with his calling, 1Samuel 16:5-11,

    Psalms 20:7,

    Psalms 62:2,5,8, 2Samuel 22:3,31,

    Job 4:17-21,

    Psalms 17:7, Psalms 25:2, Psalms 31:19,

    Psalms 40:4, Psalms 44:6, Psalms 49:6,7,

Luke 14:26, trust GOD 1st & only yet honor them, this may be when there is contradiction to GOD's will & commandments. Even Jesus faced those struggles with earthly parents & family. Mark 3:20,21, Mark 3:31-35, John 7:3-5, Luke 2:42-52,

    Hopefully these are helpful.

Genesis 3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

Genesis 18:27 And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord, which am but dust and ashes:

Job 4:19 How much less in them that dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, which are crushed before the moth?

Psalms 103:14, Psalms 104:29 , -- Ecclesiastes 3:20 All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.

Ecclesiastes 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

We haven't cremated any of our family, no plans to. But I wouldn't think it makes a difference.

To all of my brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus: That man of sin, the son of perdition, has been revealed to us by the Holy Spirit of God. The same is Lucifer Isaiah 14:8 thru 15 and the Assyrian Isaiah 10:5 and Isaiah 14:25 . The same is the great dragon, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world Revelation 12:9 . The same is the lion Job 4:10, Job 38:39, Psalms 22:21, Psalms 91:13, Jeremiah 4:7, Jeremiah 25:38, Amos 3:8, Nahum 2:11, Nahum 2:12, 2 Timothy 4:17 and 1 Peter 5:8 . The same was involved in the 2005 Cedar Revolution in Lebanon Isaiah 14:8 . The same speaks very softly in his interviews see Job 41:3 yet the mighty of the world are terrified of him, and rightly so, to the point of urinating their pants Job 41:25 . The same was born in Damascus on 11 September 1965. His last name in Arabic means "the lion". Pray to our Father in heaven, in the name of our Lord and Savior JESUS CHRIST, that we may be found worthy to escape this evil! May the Lord JESUS be glorified. Amen

    @Char,
Please invest in a King James Version Bible. Be very sure that if you ask God to open your understanding, He will give you all you need at that time. We usually want more than we can handle so, He gives us little by little and precept by precept!
  • Mas on Job 4 - 12 years ago
    @Char,
If you are in a country where Christians have freedom to gather, then you best regularly attend a church, because thats pastors and preachers everydays work to explain the Bible.
Because, its a hard work which one can hardly accomplish with you online. Unless you register with some Bible study courses online, and some of them are totally free. You can search them with Google.
    I hope this helps.
    God bless you.

I have a very hard time understanding the bible and then going to the commentary is very frustrating to me, because I again don't fully understand it, the words that Matthew Henry uses are confusing to me and I find that I'm looking up to those words to try and understand what he is saying which then makes me just want to give up. But I don't, I have a hunger to understand the Bible but just don't seem to get it. I'm looking for more than just reading the words. If anyone could be of help to me, please help me that would be a great burden lifted off of my shoulders. If you can help, only I know that GOD will put people to help me understand so I'm hoping and praying that this is one of those times.

Jesus said, "In this world you will have tribulations, but be of good cheer, for I have over come the world. As we face lifes certain trials, we should be careful to consider, the sun shines on both the just and unjust. And likewise the storm will destroy the home of the saint and the sinner. But by our faith in God the saint is restored."
