Discuss Isaiah 12

Hello David. It seems those of the Watchtower Society have been ministering to you since the loss of your wife & you have likely also embraced their beliefs & practises. I would share in Derek's warning concerning those beliefs, many of which are in variance to Biblical Christianity & correct understanding of God's Word & Jesus His Son.

But to your question about Psalm 83:18. And again I assume that your question is about the use of 'Jehovah' in the KJB, a Name that is more commonly used in the NWT. Actually, the answer lies with the translators of the KJB, back in AD 1611, appointed by the then King James I in AD 1604. As we check on the instances where the Name Jehovah appears in the KJB (i.e. Exodus 6:3, Psalms 83:18, Isaiah 12:2, and Isaiah 26:4), it seems that the translators who were appointed to work on those Books, preferred to use 'Jehovah' in those verses for their own reasons.

When we look at the Isaiah 12:2 & Isaiah 26:4 references (be-yah Yahweh), it is likely the translators wanted to emphasize the absolute greatness of God. As one expositor has commented, "The union of these two forms (of Yahweh) seems designed to express, in the highest sense possible, the majesty, glory, and holiness of God; to excite the highest possible reverence where language fails of completely conveying the idea." Otherwise, where the Glorious & Personal Name of Yahweh is given in the KJB, translators have used LORD (in caps) instead.

    Greetings in Christ JESUS, SeanPaul'

Yes,certainly,as you said,GOD HIMSELF manifested himself to the Hebrews through the OT;which was written by the twenty-four elders, starting with Moses, understand?By the way,JESUS said GOD is Spirit- John 4:24-,what is the name of the invisible Spirit of GOD?Well,GOD had said in the beginning- Genesis 1:26(the beginning is JESUS,who is the LITERAL IMAGE of GOD,He is GOD)-, yes, GOD had said:"Let us make man in OUR image, after OUR likeness", then, both are One, and as we can see, since ancient times, since Genesis, GOD revealed He would be made flesh.

By the prophet Isaiah, who is one of the 24 elders,GOD again revealed He would be made flesh, and around 2000 years ago He LITERALLY fulfilled His promise- John 1:14-and what is the NAME that GOD chose for He Himself? The NAME that GOD chose for He Himself was/is JESUS - JOSHUA-. Luke 1:26-the angel GABRIEL was sent FROM GOD(the Word is GOD,GOD Himself,self-executing) unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, and said to Mary:behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a SON, and shalt call his NAME JESUS. He shall be great, and called the Son of the Highest: the Lord GOD(the Word is GOD, GOD Himself, self-executing) shall give unto Him the throne of His father David.

Remember: The Jews said to JESUS: John 8:41-we have one Father, even God. And JESUS said to the Devil, father of the Jews-Yahweh:It is written,Man shall not live by bread alone, but by EVERY WORD that proceedeth out of the MOUTH OF GOD-Mat.4:4.

    Psalms 110:1combined with Hebrews 1:8(plus Matthew 25:11, James 2:1, Isaiah 49:14, Luke 20:42, 1 Corinthians 9:1) -

GOD said to the Lord JESUS:Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy Kingdom.

KJV Psalms 83:18, Isaiah 12:2, Exodus 6:3, Isaiah 26:4 LORD=JEHOVAH; ->JEHOVAH is another esoteric and kabbalistic and spiritist nickname of the father of the Jews.

Luke 16:5 lord=a King or one of authority, yes, see John 18:37.

Thanks you for explaining the difference and use of the name and by whom, Now I know the difference. I don't think Bible hub will burn as I was only translating Old Testament, and the Old Testament was given in Hebrew and was given to them as there laws in Hebrew.

In KJV there are 3 different uses of the name. LORD and Lord and lord. Psalms 110:1(A Psalm of David.) The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. I think this explains it best.

KJV Psalms 83:18, Isaiah 12:2 , Exodus 6:3, Isaiah 26:4 LORD = GOD JEHOVAH, LORD GOD of Israel

    KJV Psalms 110:1, Matthew 25:11, James 2:1, Isaiah 49:14, Luke 20:42, 1 Corinthians 9:1 Lord = Jesus

KJV 2 Samuel 24:3, Luke 16:5 lord = a King or one of authority

I actually found the Psalms answer on u-tube form someone studying the KJV 1611 he was proving the KJV is the true word of GOD and just so happened to answer my question at the same time. I added these verses I found because I didn't mention any books or verses in my original question because it is every translation in Old Testament I compared no matter which book or verse. And I also found this.

Yahweh is the name of Israel's God and the God who came to earth as Jesus Christ, Yahweh in the flesh. Matthew 1:21 says, "She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins." The name Jesus is from the Latin form of the Greek form of Yeshua, which literally means "Yahweh saves." So Yahweh will save His people from their sins, and simultaneously Jesus will save His people from their sins. This is just one of many instances where Jesus and Yahweh are equated.

Romans 11:16-24 shows Israel as distinct from the Church: the "natural branches" are the Jews, and the "wild branches" are the Gentiles.

The "olive tree" is the collective people of God. The "natural branches" (Jews) are "cut off" the tree for unbelief, and the "wild branches" (believing Gentiles) are grafted in. This has the effect of making the Jews "jealous" and then drawing them to faith in Christ, so they might be grafted in again and receive their promised inheritance.

The natural branches are still distinct from the "wild branches," so that God's covenant with His people is literally fulfilled.

    Romans 11:26-29, citing Isaiah 59:20-21 Isaiah 27:9; Jeremiah 31:33-34

Isaiah 62:11-12 "Behold, the LORD hath proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy salvation cometh; behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.

And they shall call them, The holy people, The redeemed of the LORD: and thou shalt be called, Sought out, A city not forsaken.

Moses' prediction of Israel's permanent restoration to the land in Deuteronomy 30:1-10.

Moses said, "THE LORD YOUR GOD WILL CIRCUMCISE YOUR HEARTS!!

SO HOW WILL "ALL ISRAEL BE SAVED?

Zechariah 8-14 , which speak of end-times Israel at Christ's return.

The key verse describing the coming to faith of the future remnant of Israel is Zechariah 12:10.

This occurs at the end of the tribulation.

    Also; Zechariah 8:7-8.

Israel will be regathered from the ends of the earth ( Isaiah 11:12.

    Page 1.

Thank you Oseas, that was helpful to me & I did pursue research into what you shared. I first looked at the Complete Jewish Bible & then the Tanakh, and read Isaiah 12:1,2 as follows:

    1. On that day you will say: "I thank you, ADONAI, because, although you were angry at me, your anger is now turned away; and you are comforting me.

    2. See! God is my salvation. I am confident and unafraid; for Yah ADONAI is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation! (These verses are a little different to what you've given from the CJB & I wasn't able to easily find online a CJB that read exactly as yours).

Then in the Tanakh, Isaiah 12:1,2 reads:

    1. And you shall say on that day, "I will thank You, O Lord, for You were wroth with me; may Your wrath turn away and may You comfort me.

    2. Here is the God of my salvation, I shall trust and not fear; for the strength and praise of the Eternal the Lord was my salvation. (So in the Tanakh as well, even though the wording is different, you are correct, Yahweh is not given).

Now let's look at another example: Exodus 6:2,3 (KJV):

    2. And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the LORD:

    3. And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them.

    In the CJB:

    2. God spoke to Moshe; he said to him, "I am ADONAI.

    3. I appeared to Avraham, Yitz'chak and Ya'akov as El Shaddai, although I did not make myself known to them by my name, Yud-Heh-Vav-Heh [ADONAI].

    And in the Tanakh:

    2. God spoke to Moses, and He said to him, "I am the Lord.

    3. I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob with [the name] Almighty God, but [with] My name YHWH, I did not become known to them. (you may want to re-check these against your readings).

Dear Chris, thank you for your kind replay.

This discussion started for myself when Adam quoted Isaiah 12:1-2, and appeared the pseudo name of Jehovah, which was inadvertently added into the translation from the original source.

Comparing what Adam quoted from Isaiah 12:1-2 in the translations of Scriptures, with the Complete Jewish Bible, here's the difference:

    Adam quoted: Is.12:1-2:

1- And in that day thou shalt say, O Lord, I will praise thee: though thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away, and thou comfortedst me.

2 Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the Lord JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.

From Complete Jewish Bible-Is.12:1-2: (Comparison-see the difference)

1And you shall say on that day,"I will thank You,O Lord, for You were wroth with me;may Your wrath turn away and may You comfort me.

2Here is the GOD of my salvation,"I shall trust and not fear;for the strength and praise of the Eternal the Lord was my salvation."

So, Isaiah didn't cited the name of Devil when he preached the message to the people of Israel.Isaiah had the Spirit of Christ, understand? He was a messianic prophet, you know of this.By the way,JESUS still was in the bosom of the Father- John 1:18

You said I should supply my references that you may research this too,I agree, but I did not still do this because the site doesn't accept to post links. My assertions were based from a source called chabad, try to find it: It's Tanakh, the Hebrew Bible, Ketuvin(Scriptures).

As you said, it certainly is a serious matter if both Jews and Christians(then and now)are reading corrupt copies of the original.

Between both Scriptures above quoted, which of them is approved by the Holy Spirit?Only one is true, and approved by the Spirit of Truth. In my vision is the original source, but I'm referring strictly to this portion of Scriptures- Isaiah 12:1-2.

Therefore with joy shall we draw water out of the wells of salvation.

    Greetings in Christ JESUS

    Adam

I repeated the original evidence because there is not greater EVIDENCE than the everlasting Word of GOD, is there? The Word is GOD, the invisible, the Omnipotent, and Omniscient and Omnipresent GOD, for me it is He Who is "the Strong's identifier". The Word is self-executing / executable because the Word is GOD, understand? Psalm 33:9 - He -the Word- spake, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.

Yes,I stated that the added name Jehovah(a demonic name of Satan)is not in the original Scriptures as being GOD,Father of my Lord JESUS, but as Lucifer, the son of perdition, father of the Jews as said my Lord JESUS- John 8:44-,transfigured as God- Isaiah 14 combined with 2Thes.2:2-3 among other biblical references, and no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 2Corinthians 11:14. Be careful, for Satan is wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that can be hidden from him, understand? How can the believers fight against the devilish traps and strategies of the Devil if are not knowing so well the depths of Satan?

You said that If I think there's holes, how am I believe and trust the rest of it and where I draw the line,so I must say that the

limit of the line is in Genesis 2:16-17 and 3:1 combined with Matthew 16:23.Take a look.By the way,his throat is an open sepulchre

You said that I'm using a different translation, and asked so how I know its more accurate and not less accurate.Well, well, I used and am using the same source you used to quote Isaiah 12:1-2,right? Tell me:What Scripture is more accurate? The original Hebrew Scriptures,or the copies of the Hebrew Scriptures that were transcribed in a lot and different translations?

Furthermore, answer your question if I have any more evidence, so let me ask: Is there evidence more truer than the true Word of GOD? The evidence is the Word of GOD. The testimony of GOD is greater.

As you know, the Word of GOD is from everlasting to everlasting, the Word is GOD

    Greetings is Christ JESUS

    Adam

As you know, the Bible is about two Covenants- The OT and NT.

What we are commenting is about the OT, not about the NT, for there is not that NAME or nickname in the NT. Remember: You quoted Isaiah 12:1-2.

Isaiah 16:-1-2 in the OT -Nevin'im(Prophets) Yeshayahu(Isaiah) is written as follow:

1 And you shall say on that day, I will thank You, O Lord, for You were wroth with me, may Your wrath turn away and may You comfort me.

2 Here is the God of my salvation, I shall trust and not fear; for the strength and praise of the Eternal the Lord was my salvation.

In fact that name was added in the translations inadvertently, but the name you have mentioned it is not the only fictitious name or nickname added in the OT (not added in the Bible as a whole-OT&NT), there are several others: I have listed YHWH, Yahweh, Yehovah,Elohim, Adonai, HaShem, Yahusha, YEHshia, Jehovah, YEHvah, these names are not NAMES of GOD, quite the opposite, all these names listed are strictly the names of the father of the Jews- John 8:44 combined with Revelation 12:3-4.

JESUS in His prayer to the Father, said: John 17:6 - I have manifested thy NAME unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: ... -->What's NAME?)

    Greetings Adam

Good question. We are face to a deep and terrible puzzle/enigma. The most important is the Truth. GOD is Truth. The Word is GOD. The Word is from everlasting to everlasting. The GOD's people needs to investigate and seek Truth.

Replying to your question, I must say that NAME does not exist in the original Hebrew Scripture, it was simply added.

Remember, JESUS said: Re.22:18 -> I testify unto every man that hears the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, GOD shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book.

What matters and prevails is the pure Word of GOD. Isaiah 12:3KJV says: Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation. (Jo.7:38-> He that believes on me, as the Scripture has said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. Compare with John 5:37-47)

4 And in that Day (in this current Day, the seventh and last Day) shall ye say, Praise the Lord, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted.(This will LITERALLY be fulfilled: Revelation 7:1-8. 144K)

5 Sing unto the Lord; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth. -> ( Revelation 11:15-18, among other biblical references.Take a look)

6 Cry out and shout, you inhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee. -> (Re.1:7-8-> 8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, sais the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. ->7 Behold,He comes with clouds;and every eye shall see Him, and they also which pierced Him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

    GOD BLESS

    Greetings Oseas,

I respect your posts and think I have agreed with most I've noticed in the past, but your two paragraphs starting with "By the way" has me puzzled.

Can you please share how you arrived at that belief and how you interpret verses mentioning that name in verses like Isaiah 12:2?
  • S Spencer - In Reply - 1 year ago
    Amen Gigi I agree.

If salvation was to the wicked whether you accept Christ or not and we all "including the wicked" will be ce gods whether we accept Christ or not, there is no need for righteous living.

And God's display of love in offering his only begotten Son on the cross was pointless and cruel.

That is not the Gospel of Christ!

Here is who's Gospel it is.

    Genesis 3:4-5.

And the SERPENT said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and YE SHALL BE AS GODS, knowing good and evil.

    Isaiah 12:14

How art thou fallen from heaven, O LUCIFER, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:

I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

    This origin is of Satan.

For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.

And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

    2 Corinthians 11:13-15.

    Also

Just because there is two opposing views on the deity of Christ.

If either side hates the other view, how is it possible join sides and to usher in this view or any other heresy to attack the Gospel and say that you are a child of God.

    Blessings.

We have a good example of the book of Job.

the bible said he was a righteous man and fearing GOD.

Jehovah ( psalm 83:18) himself called job righteous.

It was Satan doubting Job as a righteous man Job 1:6-11.

Satan planted seeds of Doubt by raising up 3 friends of Job

who spoke without really understanding Job 2:11. Their false

    assumptions cause job many pains.

Jesus is aware of the traps of Satan and how he uses deception and lies.

    Luke 4 and Matthew 4.

Speaking about things we don't understand in a since can be

like the ways of Satan John 8:44. false accusations and hinderance to do what is

right or what God wants us to do is from Satan- Genesis 2:15-17; Genesis 3:1-5

Jesus wasn't saying Peter was Satan. but he was being a hinderance to

his obedience to Jehovah God. John 3:16,17; Isaiah 12:2

Jesus after his impalement, Jesus came to Peter again. John 21:15-17

We can avoid hindering others by praying.. Matthew 6:9,10,13

Dear "Jamie", See here it is not taken out.

    Psalms 83:18

That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.

    Isaiah 12:2

Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.

    Exodus 6:3

And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them.

    Isaiah 26:4

Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:

In this context, it is a strong word. In KJV you have what is right. Some creeds have their own printing presses and can therefore make / raise / shorten as they wish. This will be confusing for those who read it.

My experience is KJV is the best. Sometimes i hear readings from other publishers and the words are unfortunately mixed so that even if i read in my KJV there is total confusion. My advice to you is to read a translation that you drop and stumble upon the words / settings and the like. Only KJV :)

Hope the answer can help you. For the Bible is meant to have a word that is understandable. Jehovah is also used by the Witnesses. I have no prior knowledge there. But maybe someone else has? Know that they do not believe in the trinity between God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

Stay safe in Jesus name, love u in Christ. John 7:10_24

Hi GiGi, May Jesus bless you very much.

My Nanma Margaret passed away peacefully on 6th March.

Our faithful Lord allowed me to see my beloved grandmother twice before she left.

Both my parents were able to see her also, and others from the family. Once we had all seen her, she passed in the very early hours of the next morning. I believe the Lord waited until we had all said our goodbyes.

I felt led to read scriptures to her as she rested, I listed them below. When reading from God's Word, she seemed to stir and try to respond in her frail condition.

Thank you GiGi, for your faithful prayers and well-wishes, and for sharing with me more understanding about being confirmed into the Anglican church. This gives me much comfort and hope for her salvation.

She is already missed. This was the first passing of someone who I was close with, but I have peace about it because I know we loved each other, and I could see God moving throughout my time with her, even til the end.

The scriptures I felt led to read to my Nanma:

    Matthew 6:9-13 (KJV)

    2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (KJV)

    Psalm 23 (KJV)

    Isaiah 12:2-5 (KJV)

    Ecclesiastes 12:7 (KJV)

God bless you very much GiGi. I let my Nanma know there were people all over the world praying for her (with you and others from this forum in mind). Thank you GiGi. I'm praying for you also.

Psalms 9:10, Psalms 18:2,30, Psalms 56:3, Psalms 71:5, Isaiah 12:2, our trust & hope should ultimately be in GOD

    * Psalms 118:8, * Jeremiah 9:4, * Micah 7:5,6, Luke 12:52, Psalms 27:10, Ephesian 6:2,3, Proverbs 23:22, people even most dear can betray, abandon, abuse etc. There was much abuse, betrayal, within King David's family & those he served. 1Samuel 21, 2Samuel 15, Saul his King, his children, wife, etc. Starting with his calling, 1Samuel 16:5-11,

    Psalms 20:7,

    Psalms 62:2,5,8, 2Samuel 22:3,31,

    Job 4:17-21,

    Psalms 17:7, Psalms 25:2, Psalms 31:19,

    Psalms 40:4, Psalms 44:6, Psalms 49:6,7,

Luke 14:26, trust GOD 1st & only yet honor them, this may be when there is contradiction to GOD's will & commandments. Even Jesus faced those struggles with earthly parents & family. Mark 3:20,21, Mark 3:31-35, John 7:3-5, Luke 2:42-52,

    Hopefully these are helpful.

Jehovah used in this KJV translation : Exodus 6:3, Psalms 83:18, Isaiah 12:2, Isaiah 26:4,

To find where each place it's located : (I just searched Jehovah in the search tab, on this site. It opens in top left of page when you tap the KJV Standard)

If you notice in Exodus 6:3, it's perfect how it explains HE appeared to Abraham, Isaac & Jacob as GOD ALMIGHTY, but JEHOVAH that name was not known to them. It's very interesting the way the Bible has the names of GOD, especially old testament. In Psalms 83:18, Most High over all the earth.

    Hopefully that's helpful.

I love how Jesus defeated Satan with_ "IT IS WRITTEN." The Word defeating satan with The Word,

    The Sword of the Spirit!

We have Dominion; Power and Authority in Jesus Name. We're children of the King.

Tom Not to my understanding the devil biblically is the Kingpin He doesn't show true colors so to speak but satan

is regard to His indirect approach i.e. circumstances situations and conditions that he manipulates and sets up i.e.

like roaring lion seeking who he may devour. Also everything the true God has done he tries to manipulate to make

look stupid. That's why experience is no guarantee for truth unless it lines up with scripture.

Brother Earl, I'm sure you mean well, but I, along with others here do not believe your interpretation of calling Jesus just a man. That disregards scripture like John 1 and Isaiah 44:6 that says Jesus was there in the beginning and helped create everything. Either you believe that or you don't. It clearly says Jesus helped create mankind so we believe it. He is the creator not the creation. This belief disregards all other scripture saying Jesus is God. If you scroll up you will see people have posted dozens of scripture that says that. That would be really sad if you deny the Lord. John 14:6 Isaiah 12:2 Matthew 10:33. 2 Peter 2:1

Do you believe all of the Bible is true?

    Chris,

Not so, KJV has accounts of "Jehovah" being used:
